Spaz is still doing really well insulin free. The highest reading he had this week was 119, which concerned me a bit, but the rest of his numbers have been in the green.
This week I tested him twice daily every second day, but I think I am going to change it to once daily every second day for another week-then weekly.
His dandruff and his excessive shedding has almost completely ceased as well since starting the Dermoscent. I really should have looked at doing something about his dandruff sooner even if it didn't seem to bother him.
Just thought I'd do a quick update! Spaz may be In remission but I am still coming here daily to read the threads and educate myself :D.

Love my boy :)

Looking good Spaz! A few drops of fish oil (as long as he's not allergic to fish), can also help with dry skin and dandruff.

Great pic of your boy - looks like he loves you.

Thanks everyone :)
Fish oil added to his diet Wendy, or applied to to his skin? I was actually wondering about fish oil and if it would help.
Yes Spaz loves me *almost* as much as I love him, lol. I have owned a lot of cats in my life and Spaz is definitely the most vocal, clingy, and codependent cat I have ever met-but that is what I find so endearing about him :).

You have a beautiful kittie. He reminds me of my cat a lot in the face! Except Sheba has more weight on. The eyes are identical! I see he is a Siamese mix. My cat is an australian mist which is a mixture of alley cat, abysinian and burmese.
Congrats on being :otj:

Your Sheba is lovely Bron! I do see a lot of resemblance too between her and Spaz. Spaz is a pretty big boy (16 lbs), I think I just got him at a good angle, lol!

What a gorgeous pic and a great report :) that 119 was still in the normal range you know! Occasionally you may get an odd number out of the normal range too. Don't panic just take some additional tests that week if that happens. You don't need to be concerned about one number you just want to watch out for him trending up.

Thank you :)! I know the 119 is in the normal range, but I have been used to seeing him "in the green", so the blue took me by surprise a little! I put it down to him being stressed over an empty food bowl as he started bugging me around 2am for food that morning. I feed him and Panda around 4:30am. I'm probably wrong though, lol.

I'm definitely going to continue monitoring Spaz's BG regularly so that if his numbers start to go up I can take action right away. I consider myself very fortunate that Spaz wasn't in worse condition when diagnosed and was able to achieve remission fairly soon after diagnosis :).
