We started Eddie's A/B last night and he seemed to tolerate it just fine. This morning, we started his new pen, and dropped off his free catch sample at the vet's office. I got a call just a little bit ago that his sample was "negative." I'm not 100% sure what that technically means, but I assume negative for the presence of bacteria? We were instructed to discontinue the A/B. I know free catch sample is really prone to contamination, but is as much of a concern about a false negative?

In any event, with Eddie finally hitting blue numbers today, I really have to think the insulin was the culprit. That could definitely explain the flat cycles, and maybe even what seemed to be a lack of duration. I'm guessing that if it was weakened or inactive, that we will basically be seeing the depot rebuild over the next several cycles. Either way, I'm really happy to see blue today, and I hope we will see Eddie getting back on track here soon. :-D

Hi Jen. Yep negative means no bacteria. It looks like either it was the insulin or he just needed more of it, JMHO. In any case he looks super good today. Are you going to continue with the AB? Have a great weekend!!

Hi Elise!

Yep, either he took four full cycles before showing any downward movement on our most recent increase to 2.0u, or our vial was done. I'm leaning towards the latter. I don't think I want to risk experimenting shooting with the old vial to test whether it does anything or not. I am going to stop the A/B. He only had one dose, and the free catch was collected before his first dose, so with the negative result and no symptoms, I don't think it makes sense to continue the A/B. Either way, Eddie's currently looking great today! :-D I hope he can hold the numbers down and not blast up at the end of the cycle. Max is looking wonderful today, too! It's nice to see those blues today. I hope Eddie keeps surfing. I'm glad the urine test was negative.
