Re: 6/27 Wonton AMPS=77 +1=80

She is doing great!!! In fact, so great, that it just might be time to see how she can do without insulin. As I said on your previous condo, I'd like a couple more eyes on her SS before it's a formal "go". But I'm working today, so I want to give the OTJ instructions because I can't access them from work and I want you to have them. But I'll post before your shot time tonight and let you know whether to start or not.

You can also choose to start the trial in the morning instead of tonight if I send you the "go" message. So....here's what you do:

  • Test at your normal AMPS and PMPS times. Feed multiple small meals throughout the day as much as possible (small meals are less likely to overwhelm a newly functioning pancreas).

  • If she is green at your normal test times, no need to test further until the next "PS" time, just feed small meals and go about your day. If she is blue, feed a small meal and test again after about 3 hours. If her number is lower 3-4 hours after a meal, then her pancreas is working!

  • If all goes as we hope, then after 14 days of the trial, we have a party!!!!

Sometimes the trial doesn't work the first time and we have to give a little more support in the form of resuming insulin. It's not the end of the world if that happens, we just give him the support she needs. Our goal is a strong remission and it's better to take our time to get that than to rush into remission just to have it fail later on.

We ask for you to post her numbers every day: date Wonton AMBG XX OTJ Trial Day X

So I'll get back to you today!! But at least you have the instructions now if it's a go!

Re: 6/27 Wonton AMPS=77 +1=80

Thank you for the info Marje!
If it's a Go, would I be able to start her this Fri night or Sat morning? I would then be home to feed the small meals and test her if necessary at +3. I do have a timed feeder that has 2 containers, would she need more?

Re: 6/27 Wonton AMPS=77 +1=80

Sometimes if you leave them on insulin too long, they can start to throw inverted curves. I'm not sure about leaving her on insulin for three more days...have to check on that.

Re: 6/27 Wonton AMPS=77 +1=80

Inverted curves sounds evil, LOL...don't want those. OK, I will do it if the time is right, Wonton is running the show!

Re: 6/27 Wonton AMPS=77 +1=80

Yeay!!! That's great news!!
Thank you very much Marje...I'll following the OTJ instructions...fingers, toes, paws crossed!! flip_cat
