Was that blue last night a bounce? How funny, to think blue could be a bounce...

She was hungry this morning. Still sounded kind of congested to me last night (she was grooming on the bed and that's when you can tell she sounds kind of "mucosy", a new word). Otherwise, I think I've only heard her sneeze when she's eating lately, and I don't know if that even counts, with chicken dust and all. Didn't seem to affect her appetite - she ate the first Tbsp of FF this morning almost completely before I even noticed... then I put down another Tbsp or 2 and she finished most of that with some chicken dust. So - she ate more than 2 Tbsp this AM... which is good.

Kasha had a good time at the parties yesterday... She's all tuckered out today. She wanted to thank Raja for keeping an eye on Blue for her. She also said that if anyone can pull off that backward e collar look, it's Shadow. I checked her out and it doesn't look like she smuggled any lizards or palmetto bugs home with her, but it's hard to say.

I heard Blue crying this morning at exactly 6 am. Just before my alarm went off. I left the lights on in the kitchen last night and just stumbled into bed, thinking that I might get up in a little bit and turn them off. But I didn't. And he was hungry cuz I didn't leave him extra food overnight (I'd fed him several times over the evening and I think he ate some of Kasha's food when he was out of the cage, but he was still hungry this morning). Apparently he had a great time at the parties last night and worked up quite an appetite. While I fed him this AM, he went on and on about how pretty Maggie looked in her greens and blues yesterday... And apparently there was some very good foods cooked up by Chef Stu as well... I said, "don't expect to have any of those grilled palmetto bug appetizers here!"

I also saw Blue jump down from the couch last night. Pretty effortless since he lands on the front paws and the back one just landed behind. He seemed balanced and all. Jumping UP is going to be another issue. We'll see. I have to buy some bleach or something and clean the pet steps I picked up at a yard sale. I had a run-in with ringworm last year myself (barn cats) and I am NOT taking any chances. That stuff is hard to get rid of.

Ok - think I might take a shower or go btb or something (yeah, right). I have to check on my horse today at some point and I'm dreading it because I know he's having major joint issues quite suddenly and I feel so helpless right now.

Nice amps for Kasha. Glad to hear blue is dong well. Have you tried MSM for the horse. It works well, is a natural supplement and water soluble and reasonable.

Thanks, Barbara... I'll have to see what's in the liquid supplement I got him last week. It may contain MSM, but I don't remember (I looked at a bunch of supplements before choosing one and now I don't remember what's in it!). Hopefully I can get to the tack shop today and pick up some more supplements. I don't feed and give sups cuz I can't get out to the barn during the week unless I take off work, so I don't want to make it too complicated for the people feeding.

Nice AMPS for Kasha. I haven't done Maggie yet; holding off food! She has a kitover from that extra niptuni (forgive my wrongful slang)! She awakened me at 2:30 am, and I'm still up! Maggie had a great time at the party and said to tell Blue she's impressed with how well he's doing and how well he gets around and is progressing. She loved his blue necklace, too. I hope your horse will be okay and you were able to get more rest.

Ann... you and your crazy schedule!

In about 20 min, I'm going to get a +3 on Kasha. She's eating food from 2nd breakfast now, which makes me think she may be heading down (maybe I'll test before +3, who knows?). I'd planned on getting a +2, but somehow I missed it. Makes me wonder how long I was actually in the shower this morning!

Is it OCD that I labeled all the FF cans I bought yesterday with their carb content? I mean, I write it on the HC and MC stuff so that in a pinch, I don't have to look it up or think about it... but I wrote on something like 50 little cans last night: 2%, 3%, 4%... LOL...

I think it's a little interesting that my vet doesn't like to see them drop below 90 or so. I don't see how that can be...

I'm debating going out for some breakfast... there's a restaurant on the corner of my street (about 14 houses down) that will make me a cheese and green pepper omelette and that sounds sooo good right now. I'm not sure how old the eggs in my fridge are (from farm market, no date on them), so the omelette idea is sounding better and better. I don't feel like doing experiments to see if they float to determine if they are good or bad... I bought them quite some time ago, so I think I'll write them off.

Another good start for Kasha's day. And, I had to check -- yup, this is the condo where there was one very frustrated bean about a month ago.

Vets get nervous with lower numbers because most people don't home test the way we do. Not only do most people not home test, they don't know how to manage low numbers with food. If numbers are in the 50s, the vets will tell a bean to take their cat to the ER or bring the kitty to the office for hypo treatment. It's the vet's means of protecting him/herself.

Ringworm. UGH! We went through that last summer. Gabby contracted it at the vet hospital where she was staying on the ICU. I do not wish ringworm treatment on anyone.

Yes - the kitties at the barn have it and I mysteriously came down with it on my leg (I never wear capri type pants to the barn anymore!). The first doc didn't recognize it, thought it might be staph and gave me an ointment. Didn't get better. I researched on the internet and had it down to ringworm or a strange type of skin cancer! My regular doc (and by regular, I mean I never see him but his name is listed as my primary care person) was walking thru the waiting room, saw my leg and said, "that looks like ringworm". I treated it for 3 months - it seemed to go away (it would go away and then I would notice a little red dot and have to treat all over again)... then, around Christmas, it showed up again, same leg, about 2 inches from the original site. Argh... 3 more mos of treatment. So far so good... The kitties at home showed no sign of it - which was my big fear.

Some of the Starbucks have egg sandwiches, and they are pretty good. There is one healthy wrap with egg white omelet or something and some healthy veggies mixed in; there is a much smoother name for it, but anyway worth checking out. They're alrrady made, and they heat them up! The restaurant you mentioned sounds nice and as a last resort there is always the Egg McMuffin at McDonalds.

One more day for Blue... Even less, actually. Our follow-up visit is at 9:30 am tomorrow. Blue is NOT going to be happy about going into the carrier... but I'm interested in what the surgeon has to say about Blue's progress.

My Vet says same thing. I asked him what is the normal range for Maggie, and he said between 100-200! If so, she's within normal ranges. I need to call him tomorrow to ask a question.

The vets I work for are the same way as for keeping numbers higher most vets must think this way great numbers for Kasha :mrgreen:

Kasha is looking great! Blue was so sweet, standing next to my Shadow and modeling the different versions of the collars. Everyone was so impressed. Did you read in my tales of the party what Blue did last night?

He is such a wonderful kitty! Awwwwwww.....it sounds as if he is doing great and adjusting really, really well. Can't wait to hear what the vet has to say!

Lousy appetite this evening. I think it doesn't help that I have a box of breadsticks and marinara sauce and she's waiting for me to start eating it so she can ask for some. I think she's eaten less than 1 Tbsp so far. Luckily, I'm home this evening to watch her.

I got stuck in a downpour this afternoon. Running 20 ft to the restaurant door to pick up the breadsticks and I was totally soaked. Water was around 2 inches deep in the parking lot. And it had just started raining maybe 5 minutes before. Fun to drive in, as well. On the highway - if you were in the fast lane, waves of water would roll over the barrier from the fast lane in the other direction (I was NOT in the fast lane - LOL).

I realized that today is Blue's birthday. I know... But it was also Big White Cat's birthday... Which makes me a little sad. On my calendar at work it says on today's page: "Kittens" - 14!

Because they will always be the kittens to me.

I had Blue on the couch with me but every time I moved to pick up the laptop or move Kasha's food, he'd move into my spot. And then he jumped down, but he had his paws on the e-collar and I though he was going to face plant into the carpet. I gasped and reached for him, but he landed fine (no idea how) and now he's stretched out on the floor.

A strange noise is coming from seemingly behind my couch... I do NOT want to investigate this...
 
Question about ordering Lantus online from http://www.canadadrugsonline.com (or I guess maybe this is just a question about cartridges). There is an option for the 5 X 3ml Lantus Cartridge OR the 5 X 3 ml Lantus Pen injections (Solostar). Does it matter which one I order? The solostar is slightly cheaper... and when I call around to stores, they have been quoting the Solostar prices. My prescription just says Lantus cartridge 5 X 3ml. Also - can I fax the prescription or must I have the vet fax it?

Any info would be appreciated.
 
You can fax the Rx. I would call/contact them and make sure it doesn't matter exactly how the Rx is written. Just one word of caution. I got my Lantus from them last summer. When it arrived, the ice pack was melted. The cartridges were getting a little wonky before 28 days.
 
Hi Krys,
I would have the vet write it out for exactly what you want - pen or cartridge. If you are unsure what they need, call the pharmacy and ask. You should be able to fax the script. The vet could also do it.

Ive always found the pens easier to handle, because they are longer. Im always afraid of dropping the cartridges. Thats just my own personal preference.

Thats what happened to me too...different insulin, tho. Came from the same company you are ordering from. I believe these guys have a 30 day guarantee, if you feel it didnt get shipped properly and was not working. You could ask them more specifics on that.
 
Hmmm... I have to say, I am worried about getting warm cartridges... this might not be the time of year to experiment (I saw 91 in my car today). I might call around again to see if some place nearby will sell me one cartridge...
