Holding the 2.5 dose today to see what she does. Seems like she is finally stabilizing on this dose. Will watch today and, if basically no change, will try to go to a fat 2.5 tomorrow morning. Would like to see some lower numbers but nothing drastic like the 2.75 dose caused.

I hope everyone has a nice Saturday and many prayers go out for Sadya. Rest in Peace now, little Bodie cat_wings>o

46 @2.5. Fed 1 tsp h/c and will check at +3 (20 minutes). I should have fed 1 tsp l/c at +1. Didn't think she would drop this fast on a lower AMPS number.

Susie just won't let you have some peace and quiet  Good job so far!
Thanks, Melissa. I'm glad I didn't increase this morning. This cat is certainly an enigma. Yesterday her nadir was at +10. Praying that is not the case today or I will be on my toes every hour throughout the day. Mr. Kitty had a really good day yesterday. It's fun to get up in the middle of the night to test - isn't it?:arghh:

Whoa girl. It truly does take Susie a few days to settle into a dose.
My question is, what dose next?!! Susie - great numbers and surprises from you!
Are you thinking of taking a .25 unit decrease? I think it is safe to say now, that the decrease from 2.75 to 2.50 worked!

Yes, that is the question. I don't want to take the decrease but she is running low. You are right that it takes her a while to adjust to a new dose but usually not this long and not this way. I thought we were in for the blues from now on with the decrease. I agree that this is no failed reduction. I don't know what I am going to do. I'll watch her today and decide later. I'm just grateful that my gut said to hold off on an increase this morning.

Youre handling this better than I am!

For now, Olivia's going up the dosing ladder, but I know when she starts coming down and the lime greens start popping up I'm going to LOSE IT :p
You will be just fine. I'm really finding that understanding the "feeding the curve" mentality is a huge help and I would be lost without it. High carbs if under 50. Medium carbs in the 50's. Most importantly is to test often when you fear the big drops :arghh:. Don't get me wrong. I do start to panic with anything under 50. I want to stuff her mouth and check her every 10 minutes

On another note - I love your "dogs visiting" on your spread sheet. Dose Olivia have a problem with these visiting dogs? Is that a warning to expect higher glucose? They don't seem to have much of an impact on her glucose levels.:woot:

Yeah - it's not much, but I think her bg runs just a TOUCH higher when the dogs are around. At the very least, I think it's worth noting since it could maybe effect future cycles? Idk.

She's not a huge fan of them, no :p They're not bad dogs, but they're super anxious and have separation issues when their person isnt within a 5 foot radius. So they tend to pace/whimper/bark. Olivia doesnt understand these needy, drooly, LOUD beasts that are 8 times her size, so she tends to spend most of their visits flattened on the couch, watching them with a likewise anxious (JUDGEMENTAL) stare.

Why she doesnt go somewhere else where she'll feel safer? Because cat. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The couch is HERS, damnit, and she wont be ceding it.

Yeah, I was just thinking that she goes to the couch????? I would think she would hide under it or under a bed but, as you say, the couch is hers

Guess she told you what to do and said I want a decrease. Congrats. :D
I'm afraid we will go back up but it is imperative to me that I hold the decrease for at least 10 cycles to see what happens. I also feel responsible for her dropping that low. If I had given her a tsp of l/c at +1 that might not have happened. Do I have to take the decrease if I change my mind? I want to watch her the rest of the day, and a few times tonight, to see what happens. I'm tired of the bouncing back and forth but will see what happens.

Okay, Carla and Mandy. I'll reduce to 2.25 tonight. I just hope I don't go back up again. Will hold the reduction for at least 8 cycles - maybe 10 - as she is slow to adapt. She was coming up pretty fast this afternoon. Thanks for the advice.

She may be starting a bounce. Watch for the high before the lows like the other day.
I'm so sorry I have been so remiss. I remember a cat named Rex that recently passed but I did not tie it to you. I get so caught up in my own little world with Susie that I can be negligent with others. You are wonderful to be helping me. Your loss is so new. I'm sure your pain is very real and very fresh. My apologies and my thanks for you always offering to help me. It always hurts when I see folks on this site that lose their kitties. Like today with Sadye and Bodie. I guess I am just too emotional regarding these things. Again, thank you for being by my side and know that you will see your beautiful, fluffy Rex again - God willing.

Summer, you're sweet for saying that. Rex allowed for me to meet so many great people on this board over the years. I realized last week that I missed helping people read their cats' numbers. Susie just happened to grab my attention that one day and of course I wanted to follow along on your journey after that. :bighug:

Let's see if Susie can get more settled in on 2.25u and flatten out her numbers.

I'm so grateful that you decided to follow along on my journey despite your recent loss. You might be very disappointed in me tonight, though. I decided to feed her 1 tsp of m/c at +9 and she was only at 141 but she was dropping from PMPS. I'm just really tired and want to sleep without putting her in jeopardy and keeping me up. I hope that sometimes these moves are acceptable. Thank you, again, for being here for me. There are some people that will be/would be very upset with me for feeding m/c when it is not necessary to stop an urgent drop. I don't do this often but sometimes I just want to sleep but will not risk Susie falling too low while I do.

I think that was a good call if you needed to sleep. You do what you need to do to keep yourself healthy so you can in turn help your cat. You hold the syringe so you are the one who makes the final decision with Susie. We're here to give you advice to help you make informed decisions. :)

Summer i agree with Mandy, you are the one with the syringe. i doubt there is anybody on this board that doesn’t understand the challenges of testing during the night :bighug:

Hi Summer, another busy day for you and Susie. You’ve come such a long way with dosing and dealing with those low numbers. Hope you and Susie have a happy Sunday. Surf safely sweet Susie. :bighug::bighug:
