Good Evening, Everyone,

I didn't have time to open Rusty's condo this morning because the climb of McKenzie started early. Also, I wasn't too happy to post the result of his fur shot yesterday evening! But it looks like he came down nicely and was green at least by +9. Edward watched him carefully and made sure that he ate his meals (this hot, humid weather is so hard on Rusty, with his beautiful long-haired coat, and he grazes gently when it's hot). Rusty was thrilled to see me when I got home this afternoon and spent some time sitting on the porch in my lap. We had a good shot this evening (and this morning).

I was--and am--exhausted from the climb today. The weather was hazy, hot and humid, although the thunderstorms didn't appear until we were almost down off the mountain (thank goodness!). The mountain was very steep with huge rocks and overhangs to get around, also some blow-downs from recent storms, mud that you wouldn't believe, and an army of blackflies at each of the 4(!) summits (mosquitoes in the woods, too). I kept hoping that the next summit would be THE summit, but to no avail. Finally we made it and ate lunch with the blackflies and headed down on a different trail--one that was not much used and that had so many blow-downs that we lost it at one point and had to backtrack. I'm really glad I got to climb this mountain, but I don't think I'll repeat the experience. Anyway, only 3 more mountains to go to win the "Saranac 6er" patch.

Please forgive me if I don't visit many condos tonight. I'm going to veg out for a while and will be back, briefly, later.

Hope all is well in LL,

Ella & Rusty

Nice diving today Rusty! Paws crossed the lagoon or grotto is what you see tonight. So sweet that he missed you. cat_pet_icon

I'm tired just reading about your hike. Good thing it's now done and you are half way through the set. And thanks to the weather gods for holding off the worst until you were done.

Great recovery, Rusty! Zener is proud of you.  Those false summits are so annoying... sounds like you could use some vines tonight, Ella. I found that watermelon was great for recovery from my latest runs.

Wow...what a day - sounds so invigorating!!! Rusty is looking good this evening. I know what you mean about the slowed appy on hot days...everyone here except Trixie has lowered appies on hot days. Trixe just LUVS to eat no matter what...nothing slows her down  !

Have a restful evening!!

NI NI, rest well and I hope you have an easy day tomorrow.

Auntie Ellabean, shoulds we send Tobey over for a massage? He works cheap, just a few cimmamum cookies! -- Tess

Rest well Ella, I know how exhausting those types of climbs can be, Been there a few times. I am so glad you got to go,and achieved the summit. That is very cool. I am also glad you were with others. There is nothing worse than realizing you have lost the trail. backtracking can sometimes not be as easy as it sounds. How lucky and wodnerful that the thunderstorms waited until you guys were off the mountain. YAY!!!! :-D :-D :-D

Rusty - nice recovery today! :-D

Auntie Ella! I will bring extra sepcial coffees for you tomorrow. My bean says you worked very hard today and could use a treat, something special. I won't come tonight cuz you should be sleeping... but will first thing tomorrow! ~~ Elsa, Lil BIT, kitteh barista
