Good morning, LL!
Thinking about Robert and DW, and Michele. Sending them light as they mourn the crossing of their kitties.
Also sending feel-better vines to Zeus, and vetty vines to Maggie.

Ripley is doing great today.

She's been sleeping on her rocker the last few nights (I miss having her next to my tummy). She seems to go through 'waves' of sleeping near me for a few nights, then on her rocker for a few. Last night I was saying good night to her before I went to bed and she had a look in her eyes that said "stop petting me." She seemed annoyed. (Two nights ago, as I was administering her sub-q fluid, she bit my hand ~ very rare for her to 'lash out' at me like that.) Maybe she's just in a funk. She seems to be ok otherwise: eating, visiting the LB, talking, preening. Poor old girl; I wonder if she just gets fed up sometimes with all the poking and prodding. Not that I blame her... cat_pet_icon

I hope everyone has a great Tuesday.

OT: Anyone else still having issues connecting to the board? Several attempts this morning took me to a page that said it was unavailable; the web address it was showing me was 'ignorelist.com' I think? It's the same one that someone had posted on fb ~ they were seeing that same msg, too. I can access it from my phone with each attempt; just having issues on my home computer...

Re: 6/25 Ripley AMPS 88

Morning Josie, thanks for the Vetty vines for Mags. Well, wonder what's up with Ripley with biting the hand that feeds her. Don't feel bad, as I get bit quite often when I try to clean up Maggie's butt! Those teeth are sharp, ouch! I bet they do tire of all the prodding and poking at times.

Re: 6/25 Ripley AMPS 88

Hi guys .. numbers look good ripley! I think sometimes our kitties get fed up with the pokies but we do what needs to be done right? I had trouble connecting yesterday to the board but no problems today .. I clicked on the link to that ignorelist site and my virus protector thing popped up .. odd .. have a great day guys!

Re: 6/25 Ripley AMPS 88

Nice green start for Ripley today. I think the kitties have those funky days as well. I know mine seem to. Have a wonderful day Josie!

Re: 6/25 Ripley AMPS 88

Lucy has one of those days as well
I'm glad Ripley is doing so good!

Re: 6/25 Ripley AMPS 88

Lovely start to the day, Ripley! Keep up the great, green work! Shasta goes through phases (I think) where she doesn't join me in bed...I hate it. She also has times when she gets really pissy with me when I love on her or poke her or whatever. That's the time that I break out the treats and all of a sudden my pets aren't that bad!  As for the website, I have gotten a few "invalid address" screens. I click the back arrow and all is good in the world. Hope you have a wonderful day, Josie!

Re: 6/25 Ripley AMPS 88

Hi Julie. Nice AMPS for Ripley. I'm sure the little nip she gave you the other night was just a love bite. I imagine they do get tired of all of the prodding and poking we do so I guess they are entitled to be moody every once in awhile.

I haven't had any problems getting on the board. I am having problems putting an avatar up but I'm beginning to think it's an iPad problem and not the boards. Hope the bugs get worked out for you.

Have a great day.

Re: 6/25 Ripley AMPS 88

Hi Josie,

What a nice number for Ripley and Cleo to start at :-D Cleo get her "cattitude" up once in a while too. I get the evil eye and a tail flick. So far, it has only lasted a few hours. They must sometimes think, "Can you just leave me the help alone!" Hope Ripley is in a better frame of mind for you tonight!

Re: 6/25 Ripley AMPS 88

Hi Josie - I just love Ripley's numbers. All that green!

I will hope that Ripley is just having an off day or two.... maybe lingering effects of the full moon. I haven't had any Board issues but have read that some folks have.

I hope you day will be a good one.

Re: 6/25 Ripley AMPS 88, +9 88, response from Merrick...

There are those crazy 88s again ~ recently went through a wave of 'em, and now they're back.
Ripley is having a good afternoon. She's outside, 'basking' in the overcast weather. A little rainy and humid. Odd for our area.

Merrick:
Over the weekend I contacted Dr. Lisa and Merrick regarding Merrick's new "Purrfect Bistro" line, and the new formulas of Cowboy Cookout and other flavors. Dr. Lisa gave me a list of things to find out from Merrick (typical nutrient analysis, etc). I received a response from the company today:

Hi Josie,
Thank you for taking the time to e-mail us. I am very sorry but we do not have the full nutritional analysis on our New Purrfect Bistro yet. This takes the average of several runs and then its samples must be sent to the lab for results. This could take up to 4 months to get back. We are very sorry for the inconvenience, however we would be more than happy to provide it when it comes in. Please feel free to check back with us!
Have a wonderful day! J

Bummer it takes so long.
Though the original flavors are still available in stores and online, it seems as though they are getting phased-out. (Petco no longer offers the orig. cans online, and the store had them all on clearance.)
I think when I get down to a couple of my own cans left, I'm going to try to slowly "wean" Ripley off of the CC (she currently gets a mix of 50% Wellness Turkey and 50% CC for her meals, and will only eat the WT if it's mixed with CC... ) and see if I can "trick" her into eating 100% WT... a grand experiment... I don't want to assume the new CC has the same carbs and phosphorous levels as the orig. formula.

Computer issues:
I can only access the board through a link (I found one in Dr. Lisa's site). Otherwise, it still takes me to the above-mentioned address and tells me that the server is down. I experienced the same thing that Devon did (also mentioned above), so I wonder if a file got corrupted or something... my virus-scanner said it found nothing wrong... hmmmm. Wish I knew more about computers...

When I got home from work, I had a scare: I opened up my front door to find Ripley and drooler Marley greeting me (as they usually do), but Ripley was SCREAMING :o  . A series of worst-case scenarios flashed through my mind (How quickly can I get her in her carrier and to the er? Do I have time to get a blood test? etc...). Come to find out Marley was stepping on her tail. (Marley is about 120 lbs.) Poor girl. I don't blame her for screaming. Scared the bejeezus out of me, though. nailbite_smile

Thanks for all of the visits today! Always appreciated! :-D :-D :-D

Re: 6/25 Ripley AMPS 88, +9 88, response from Merrick...

Awww...poor Ripley, having 120lbs of drooler on her sweet little tail! That would've scared the you-know-what out of me, too!

She's looking lovely in her 88s today! I'm surprised it takes that long to get the nutritional values for the fuds, but what can ya do?

Have a great evening, Josie!!

Re: 6/25 Ripley AMPS 88, +9 88, response from Merrick...

...It's sad (and scary) they can release food into the market without knowing the nutritional values.
Not much we can do, I guess.

Re: 6/25 Ripley AMPS 88, +9 88, response from Merrick...

Poor Ripley. It's amazing that she didn't filet your drooler for the offense!

I would send a note to the webmaster (webmaster@felinediabetes.com) about the access issues. This may be a result of the migration and it is something Robert should be made aware of.

Re: 6/25 Ripley AMPS 88, +9 88, response from Merrick...

Poor Ripley. That would hurt. That would scare me too. I hope she isn't too stressed and keeps giving you those nice greens.

Re: 6/25 Ripley AMPS 88, +9 88, response from Merrick...

Hi, Sienne, I sent an email... thanks for pointing me in that direction.
And I would've been shocked if Ripples had lashed out ~ she rarely uses her claws, even when her tail is getting painfully squished. I sometimes wish she would use her claws a little ~ it would help keep her fur-siblings 'in line.' Instead, they know they can take advantage of her sweetness and (literally  ) walk all over her. And eat her fuds.

Re: 6/25 Ripley AMPS 88, +9 88, response from Merrick...

Hi Josie, thanks for trying to get the nutritional values of the new CC. That is sad when they can't tell you and how long it takes. Bummer as I use for Mags often. I did notice last time Petco had it on sale, and I grabbed all the cans on the shelf.
Poor Ripley's tail, hope she is okay. Ripley needs some training on how to be tough, just like Mags!

Re: 6/25 Ripley PMPS 119, response from Merrick...

Hi, Carla :-D Sorry I missed you up there... I think Ripley is just fine. She recovered nicely, plus got some time out in the backyard this afternoon (one of her favorite places to hang out, besides her rocker and my lap  ).

Hi, Ann :-D I cleared out our local Petco's supply of CC over the weekend  .
Ripley needs some training on how to be tough, just like Mags!
So true!! Maybe next time they're in the lagoon together, they can set aside their umbrella drinks and Mags can teach Ripples some tough skills  . (When I mentioned to DH that she needs to learn how to use her claws, he said "YOU need to learn to not panic and think the worst right away."  ) Who, me?

Ripley only got 75mls of squids tonight, 25mls shy of her usual amount. That's what happens when DH comes home while I'm administering fluids and I'm explaining my adventures of trying to get info from the cat fuds company... I got on my soapbox and didn't realize Ripley walked away, until I heard the fluid hitting the wall as it was shooting out of the needle. Oops. ohmygod_smile

Re: 6/25 Ripley PMPS 119, response from Merrick...

FWIW..I phoned Merrick for these same nutrient profiles when I first discovered they were revamping their line back in mid May. We feed several of their varieties both BG and 5-star. I mention how many of us feed these who will be concerned with formula changes of old staples like CC, etc..
They are eliminating some varieties all together and 'updating' others. I was told the same thing, that they did not yet have complete nutrient profiles, but at that time they were saying 1-2 mos to have them to send, and to call back mid-June if I hadn't heard anything. I had to call again end of May for something else, spoke to a different rep this time, ...and was told it 'may take awhile'. So we are now 6 + weeks in from when I was told it would take 1-2 months, and now they are telling you 4 months? Crazy.
I'm with you, how can it be released to the market without this information available? You can be sure SOMEone knows it. They have to for the recipes, They are just not ready to release it yet...perhaps fine tuning?

Well I sure can't feed it without knowing.

What they did say is there will be several similar versions in the new line, but not the same...formulas are changing.

Re: 6/25 Ripley PMPS 119, response from Merrick...

he said "YOU need to learn to not panic and think the worst right away
Who is that good not to panic with a diabetic cat? ;-) :-D nailbite_smile
Just knowing everyone elses stories makes up extra vigilant and even paranoid  . I'm getting there.

Hi, Betty :-D Thanks for the info... This experience of cat food research (or an attempt at research, anyway) has been an eye-opener. There's a scary lack of regulation of ANY kind. In an e-mail from Dr. Lisa today, she stated that this is why she's been making her own food for her furkids for the last 10 yrs. I think I may need to revisit that option...

Hi, Rhiannon :-D You said it! Panic mode/paranoia automatically comes with FD diagnosis (and other conditions!). ;-)

Ripley just cleaned her bowl, and she's sleeping on her rocker.
Good night, sweet girl.
Good night, LL.

That would scare the bejeesus out of me, too. In fact, I imagine we have all had those moments of freak out, where's the carrier, how much time, best driving route at this time of day/night... Glad she's ok and glad she allowed Marley to live! :-D

I held my breath when I read the part about Ripley screaming :o I'm glad she's ok...all that just over a tail!

She's looking great. I wonder why she has been a little moody? Gracie also goes back and forth between sleeping on her condo and curling up with me. I wonder if it is just the summer heat. Do you think?

Thanks for calling Merricks. Gracie loved it but was allergic to it. Maybe if they are changing it, she can eat it. I hope you can find something Ripley will eat.
