Yesterday
Shadow has 4 Ps today. We are not doing well as the day progresses. He started out eating ok so I gave him his insulin. After eating his +4 snack, he vomited it all up with a hairball included. I gave him some Ondanstron and then some Cypro and waited to see how he would do. I also gave him a B12 shot. I tried one syringe of watered down Wellness. After a short period of time, he vomited that up too. So here we are....not eating. He turned totally away from his +8 snack and I reheated it and offered it again a half hour later. He got up and walked to the other side of the room.
I have been lying on my bed with him for most of his meals....and watching him eat. He was doing well with energetic eating but then today after the hairball things changed. I can't explain it...he just seems so weak and so very fragile now. He is walking very slowly. I am tearing up as I type.
I am going to get more baby food since he seemed to take to that in the past when he hadn't eaten. 3 hours until PMPS. Maybe he will feel better by then. I am so sad because he seems to be thinner and thinner as the hours go by. He is the sweetest little guy.....really am trying to get nourishment into him today but if his stomach isn't keeping it down we will have to wait it out I guess...

(((((((Pat))))))) Will he eat dry food? I know it's not the best, but he needs to eat. After Ginger throws up which she does a lot, I put her in the bathroom with some dry food and I think it makes her feel better, at least she's happy to get the dry (I only had EVO before and now Young Again, so low carb).

Come on Shadow, please eat, please.

Can you give him subqs? Sometimes they become dehydrated after vomiting....especially twice....and if he doesn't feel like eating or drinking.

I'm so sorry.....there is nothing harder than a kitty that won't eat because we love them so much and try everything. It's so hard to understand and grasp why they won't.

(((Pat)))......I'm so sorry Shadow is not well. I know how much it hurts you. I wish I had advice to help.
I can only send prayers for him to eat, and prayers to ease your hurting heart.

I haven't visited lately so I'm not up to date. It may be he just needs a little time for his tummy to get its act together. I do think the baby food is a good idea.

He ate the turkey baby food as soon as I got home from the store....and then ate regular LC food for dinner. I had given him another bit of baby food as an appetizer before dinner and he seemed to really like that....
I just now gave him a little more LC food with freeze-dried chicken on top and he ate that too! Next scheduled snack is 1am....usually a half hour after getting Pepcid. So, we will try to feed a little more between the normally scheduled 4 hour intervals.....
sigh...
I guess he did need to rest his stomach and now he seems enthused again.
Maybe adding some Royal Canin RS syringed between meals ....or max-cal to add some weight back on????
I had given him a tiny bit of coconut oil on his paw the other day for hairballs but I guess it didn't help all that much since he had the hairball today.... It is SO good to see him eat. :-D
