Morning ~O) Yikes!! I missed a +2 as I was rushing around trying to get ready for Maggie's 8 am appt. and making notes.

No prezzies so I guess Mags will have an enema today. I will probably need to leave her there for a while until she does her thing and they clean her up and all. She was already scheduled for her quarterly b/w, et al today, so i asked if someone could give her an exam and feel her colon and see what's where and up and an enema. I'm making notes of when all this began as this is a new Vet in the clinic and just to save him some time from looking back thru her thick file. My Vet has surgeries.
I can't believe, but this all started with the severe constipation June 20 of last year and then the X rays confirming Megacolon. She's only needed one enema since the original diagnosis. I'll catch up on condos later.

Mags and I are always grateful for any Vetty and prezzie vines.
Thanks Mariko, Mtncat, Josie and Michelle for the poo vines and visits I missed last evening.

Re: 6/25 Maggie AMPS 146; +3 49 Vet visit

Sending a ton of vetty vines your way. Wow on that 49!!!! I'll be watching for updates....

Re: 6/25 Maggie AMPS 146; +3 49 Vet visit

Hi, Ann, I'm sorry Mags needs an enema today.
It's amazing, though, that she's only needed one since MC diagnosis! That means you are so good at keeping on top of things. I'm not surprised, though ~ you are such a good mama :-D .

I hope the visit goes well. I'm sure the KTSS crew is poised and waiting to help her out after she gets home.
Poor girl. Give her extra scritches for me today.

Re: 6/25 Maggie AMPS 146; +3 49; +4 63 Vet visit

+4 63

Well, the FF T&G Classic brought her up to 63, but I'd like to see her in the 80's as I'm not sure how long they will keep her, and she won't be getting any food. I found some FF Turkey & Gublets Grilled with Gravy, so that should bring her up, bad phosphorus though. Mags has a good appy and acting ok.

Thanks Amy and Josie for the visits and vines. Thanks Josie, I thought I was keeping on top of things, but I guess every once in a while she needs more help..

Elsa, forgot to ask for extra coffee, thanks.

Re: 6/25 Maggie AMPS 146; +3 49; +4 63 Vet visit

Hi guys .. sending good easy vetty thoughts maggie's way! It's impressive how well you've been able to control her meds since diagnosis .. I'm sure the kitties will all be over later to help maggie feel like her old self! have a great day!

Re: 6/25 Maggie AMPS 146; +3 49; +4 63 Vet visit

Morning Ann ~O) ~O) ~O)

Wow on this morning. Maggie wants to get down to business. Yikes on that +3, better with the +4. I will hope that the vetty visit goes well today, good labs etc. it is good that they can also examine her, etc. Sorry for the enema, but if it helps get things moving again, then necessary I suppose. It is hard to believe that it has been a year since the megacolon dx. I had to smile at the mention of Maggie's thick file. Mannie's was that way too: thick. lots of pages, lots of notes. :-D You have done so well in managing that aspect of her care. Good vetty, good poo vines for you Maggie.

have a great day Ann. I hope you will be able to get out for a walk, unwind etc, after the vet visit today.

Auntie Ann I am almost there! I gots lots of good brews for you today, in to go cups so you can travel. I will bring some for the vetty people too. I likes them. They are good to Mags. ~~ Elsa, Lil BIT, kitteh barista

Re: 6/25 Maggie AMPS 146; +3 49; +4 63 Vet visit

Oh my Maggie! Surf it girl. Good vetty vines coming your way and lots of "get the poo out" vines as well. At least you already had an appt. That is helpful. Gosh it is hard to believe it has been a year. Time flies huh? Hope you have a great day Ann!

Re: 6/25 Maggie AMPS 146; +3 49; +4 63 Vet visit

Hi Ann,
Oh no, Maggie hasn't pooped...
But I'm sure she'll feel better after an enema today.
Sending vetty vines from me too.

Re: 6/25 Maggie AMPS 146; +3 49; +4 63 Vet visit

Sending happy vetty vines for Miss Maggie today! Glad to see her coming up before you guys left for the vet. Hope she got up just a little more before you had to leave her. Expecting good vet reports! Happy Tuesday, Ann!

Re: 6/25 Maggie AMPS 146; +3 49; +4 63 Vet visit

More poo vines sent your way, don't get to stressed there maggie

Re: 6/25 Maggie AMPS 146; +3 49; +4 63 Vet visit

Hi Ann. Looks like Maggie wants to put her best foot forward for her vet visit. Wishing you and Maggie the best at the vets.

Have a great day.

Re: 6/25 Maggie AMPS 146; +3 49; +4 63 Vet visit

Hmmmm, Ms Maggie's BG values don't seem to care she hasn't pooped!  :? Paws crossed for a good visit and a smooth-like-butter clean out.

Re: 6/25 Maggie AMPS 146; +3 49; +4 63 Vet visit

Also sending good poopy vines for Maggie! Nice numbers for her, hope she stays up for her vetty visit. LIke the "smooth as butter" clean out. Hope your stay is a quick one Maggie :-D

Re: 6/25 Maggie AMPS 146; +3 49; +4 63 Vet visit

Thanks for all the visits and the prezzie and Vetty vines!
You guys are super, Devon, Michelle, Melissa, Mariko, Deborah, Mtncat, John, Anne (Zener), and Jane (Cleo).

Mags had a good exam. The Vet did a manual exam and could feel some poo ready to come out but needing some help with an enema. The Vet said I'm doing everything right insofar as the Miralax and Cisapride. I can go up on the dose in a week after her enema and just experiment with more Miralax. The Cisapride stays the same. This just happens every once in a while she needs some help. He mentioned possible increasing the Sub Q fluids.
I had to leave her there until she does her thing, and I'll pick her up later.
Her b/p was really good averaging at 155. It could be a little lower but not bad for her under the circumstances. She didn't seem too stressed there and was walking around on the table.
She had some FF Grilled turkey & giblets, so I'm sure she came up enough. I'm surprised at her numbers with being constipated, too

Re: 6/25 Maggie AMPS 146; +3 49; +4 63 Vet visit

Good news on the vetty visit. You really do keep on top of this w/ Mags. They do like to shake us up when we need to do do things though! I guess she finally got the surf lessons straight!

One thought, ask your vet about psyllium husk. I never thought too much of it but we were giving it to Emma to bulk up her too soft poos. I read up more and it draws water into the stool, not just the colon. I've been giving Tess just a little (1/8 tsp) twice a day and her stools have become softer. Before they were very hard little pellets. I don't know if it would help for Maggie's situation or not though, You could ask.

Re: 6/25 Maggie AMPS 146; +3 49; +4 63 Vet visit

Thanks Ann on the psyllium husk. I'll check with him when he calls on her b/w results. Mags had some of those hard pellets a few days ago.

Re: 6/25 Maggie AMPS 146; +3 49; +4 63 Vet visit

More good vetty vines for Maggie while she is still there.

I agree with Ann (& Tess) on the psyllium husks. We use it and it really helps our kitties stay regular. Be sure to get the 100% pure psyllium. We get ours at WalMart.

Re: 6/25 Maggie AMPS 146; +3 49; +4 63 Vet visit

Great Maggie report. Hopefully the enema will do the trick and she'll be home soon....

Re: 6/25 Maggie AMPS 146; +3 49; +4 63 Vet visit

Hi Ann, sounds like a pretty good vetty visit, hooray  Hopefully she does her business soon and can come home to her Mommabean. Excellent numbers today too.

Have a great afternoon,
Kathie

Re: 6/25 Maggie AMPS 146; +3 49; +4 63 Vet visit

Hi Ann

I hope Miss Mags get her 'entrance' cleaned out, and feels good after. I can hear her saying "Whew, that's better!" :-D

Nice numbers for your sweet girl, again today.

Re: 6/25 Maggie AMPS 146; +3 49; +4 63

Thanks Barb, Mtncat, Kathie, Amy and Melissa for the extra Maggie vines.

I just had an update from one of the Vet Techs. Mags is all cleaned out, and it was all soft like, diarrhea poo, no hard poo as we had all thought! A stool softener like the psyllium husk would not be helpful at this time, but thanks Ann and Melissa for telling me about it, as things can change with Mags. It has been very loose the past few weeks, so they'll leave it to me to experiment with the Miralax. They gave her an X-ray, no charge, to make sure she's all cleaned out. After the enema, she just wanted to lay on her side in the litter pan.
She's getting a bath and sani cut right now, so I'll pick her up at 3 pm. She'll be an hour off with her shot, but no biggie. They said she was very upset with the enema and did some screaming. Poor baby, that's a sensitive area and she probably feels like her privacy has been invaded.

Re: 6/25 Maggie AMPS 146; +3 49; +4 63

Poor, sweet Maggie...what a rough day. I'm glad she's cleaned out, and I'm sure she'll be very happy to be back home. I know you'll pamper the stuffin' out of her tonight, and I'm sure the KTSS is already on the way.

Re: 6/25 Maggie AMPS 146; +3 49; +4 63

Detective Poo, checking in from Vancouver. Phew! I am so glad to see Mags is moving things along but sorry it took so much help. I know you are relieved, Ann.

Re: 6/25 Maggie AMPS 146; +3 49; +4 63

I'm glad everything went well with the enema. I'm sure Maggie will feel better now.

PMPS 357

Thanks Amy for checking back in on Mags. Carla, yes Mags is one Happy Camper.
Detective Poo, how nice of you to check in on Mags from Vancouver. It was a rough day for Mags. Hope the flight went well.

Mags is home and very happy jumping onto the bed and wanting din din served in bed. I tested twice as I could not believe this number. I did have a big drop of blood, and it tested 357. The second time she tested 383, so I took the lower. I'm also an hour late with her shot. I still need to do fluids.

Mags had the sweetest Vet tech and has had her many times. She was not happy getting the enema and cried and hissed at them. They were really surprised as this wasn't Maggie's personality. One of the Vet Techs said he thought her back was painful. She does have some fusion in her spine the Manx build. I'll have to go back and review my notes. Mags would not let them bathe or do a sani cut, so they let it go not wanting to stress her out more. The Vet Tech partially bathed Mags as best as she could and placed a towel in her carrier. Mags is happy to be home, and in a good mood with me.

Oh, poor baby girl. What a day.
I'm glad she's happy to be home with you and waiting for dinner-in-bed.
Eek on the 357, but with that level of stress, I don't blame her.
(I think my BG level went up just reading about her ordeal.)
I hope you have a good night, Ann.
Give Maggie extra love from me.

Re: 6/25 Maggie AMPS 146; +3 49; +4 63; PMPS 357 Home from

Poor Mags! But glad to poo was soft and not hard; little bum-bum is probably sore. Sending happy appy & happy bum vines to sweet Maggie :-D

Re: 6/25 Maggie AMPS 146; +3 49; +4 63; PMPS 357 Home from

I'm glad she's home and happy. Too bad they couldn't do the sani-cut, but it was very wise of them to not cause her any more stress. No doubt that number is just the result of today's events...I am sure she'll be back on track in no time.

Re: 6/25 Maggie AMPS 146; +3 49; +4 63; PMPS 357 Home from

also...if her back is bothering her a bit, maybe that's why she pees over the edge of the box, too!

Re: 6/25 Maggie AMPS 146; +3 49; +4 63; PMPS 357 Home from

Thanks Amy, Kat and Josie for the well wishes for Mags. I think it was wise of them not to do the bath and sani cut, too with Mags so stressed. This number is definitely enema stress and Vetty.
I think that's it, Amy, as to why she pees out of the box with all four legs in!
She's overdue on fluids, and the fluids will lower her bg. I hate to see her do a deep dive. I think I'll wait an hour.

Re: 6/25 Magie PMPS 357; +2 126

+3 126
Do you believe it!! I guess Mags really settled down after her stressful visit. I did give fluids though which lowers the bg's!

Re: 6/25 Magie PMPS 357; +2 126

Glad your sweetie is home, lapping up some loving! Big drop, leaving that stress behind :-D Hugs from us to Magie :YMHUG:

Hi Jane, thanks for checking on Mags. She sure settled down.

Amy, I wasn't expecting such a drop so soon. A little Cowboy Cookout should get her surfng.
