Monday's Condo

Sorry I was MIA yesterday. I was running around all day, trying to get everything done. I didn't get to bed until 2:30 am, and had to get up this morning at 5:00!

Cinco has been making his mamabean's heart happy this week. Nice, safe numbers, occasional dips in the lagoon, but nothing to have to watch too closely! Such a good boy!!!! :-D cat_pet_icon I went to Petco and got another giant lb yesterday, after finding he had once again peed over the side of the one that was in the bar area. :o I looked for a storage box, or a mixing tub from Home Depot, but couldn't find one that was just the right size, so gave in and got the giant. So far so good (anti-jinx).

Sasha is also making me happy. I let her loose in our room most of yesterday, and she spent a lot of her time in Mark's closet. It had become her favorite "hiding" place, in the exact spot where Kisa used to "hide". Bittersweet. She was comfy there, and safe. so I let her stay. Last night I was in our bathroom and I heard digging, I went into the bedroom, and Sasha was in the regular litterbox! :o It's a bigger one, with the entry about 4-5" high! She had no trouble getting in, but had a little problem getting out without stepping in her pee. Small issue, bit step! :-D I praised her quite a bit. A few minutes later, she took a flying leap at the kitty condo, which is a "round" one, about 3-3.5 feet high, that Mark made years ago! :o  She used to have no problem jumping right to the top. Her current situation caused her to land about 3/4 of the way up, and she was clinging to the side. She had no clue how to get herself the rest of the way, and let go. :o Plop! I was scared she'd hurt herself, but only her pride was damaged. Gotta admire her courage, but I think we'll try to prevent a repeat performance until the sutures come out next Tuesday!

I was up at the crack of dawn (actually, before dawn @-) ) this morning to head into Sacramento for my toe surgery. All went well. It was done under a local anesthetic, which was interesting, to say the least. I couldn't see anything, as they hung a drape across me, but I could hear it all. My podiatrist had some sort of intern there, observing, so he explained everything he was doing. I would probably have preferred not to hear it, because I kept getting mental images! :? They were playing some great music - favorites from my high school and college days, and we all ended up singing along at some point! That made it much easier to deal with. By the time I got home I was exhausted and my foot started to throb, so I had a sandwich, took my pain meds and have been vegging on the couch ever since. I'm feeling pretty zoned out right now (good drugs), so it's taking me forever to type this, but I wanted to post since I didn't get to yesterday. I can't see well enough to read too many condos, so I'll have to visit later tonight when I am hopefully a little less stoned.

I just wanted to give an update on me and my crowd and say thanks again for all the good wishes. I'm going to crawl upstairs and hang out with Sasha for a while.

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans. :YMHUG: Cheers to the kitties on OTJ trials, too.

Wonderful report on everyone! Good boy, Cinco - way to make MamaBean happy!!!

I am sure it was scary to watch, but I absolutely LOVE that Sasha attempted the condo! She is feeling like herself already...she just needs to learn new ways to accomplish the old things she did - and she WILL do that that. Wahoo for her hunting down the LB, too. You go, Sasha!!

I'm glad all went well with your surgery. I agree, I think I'd rather NOT hear what's going on. I'm thankful I was out for my bunion surgeries! Sending speedy recovery vines to you, too! I hope you and your gang are now able to get in some R&R&R....rest and relaxation and recovery!!

Hi Tricia. What a great condo. Everybody including you doing well, yea!! That's what we all like to see. Take it easy and I hope you aren't in too much pain.

How great that Sasha is feeling so spunky. I'm glad she didn't hurt herself.

Nice numbers for Cinco today. I'm glad your surgery went well. I hope the recovery is fast.

Well done, Cinco, you are doing so well, hanging in good numbers while your mama deals with other things. :-D  I'm glad your surgery is over and done and you are recovering, Tricia. :-D I don't think I would have liked to hear the details of the surgery either but I'm kind of a wimp in that dept. Just ask Anne.  Woohoo for Sasha! She's doing great. She'll learn to adjust. Have a nice evening.
Liz

What a great update Tricia! Cinco is indeed a good boy with nice cycles and high greens. cat_pet_icon

Way to go Sasha - you got gumption girl. With an attitude like that she'll do well. I hope you had a good day with her today.

Healing vines for your toe so you don't need the good meds for too long. My DM had two knee reconstruction surgeries under local and said it was most disconcerting when they started up the power tools. At least you had good music to sing along to.

Good boy Cinco. Great safe numbers especially since your mom is very busy. I am happy to see that Sasha is trying to get things done. I like her spunk. Good report Tricia. I hope you get some rest and your toe heals well.

Good to hear you're home and in the "recuperating" stage Tricia!

Cinco sure is being a good boy too! I made it very clear to China that she was not to lead him into the deep part of the lagoon or they'd both be in big trouble!!

Sasha sounds like she's doing awesome too! What a brave little girl she is! In no time she'll be leaping and jumping anywhere she wants to be! (but take it easy a little while longer little girl..you're still healing!)

Take care and enjoy the drugs while you have them!....LOL

I love this report :-D :-D . Well, other than the sore toe :? . Go Cinco, and go Sasha! I'm so happy both of them are doing well. A nice reward for the stress the beans went through is to see them happy and doing good! A little hair raising for Sasha and her jumping but it's awesome she is so spunky. Paws crossed on the new litterbox ;-)

I think I missed the condo where you said what you were having done to your toe...or forgot  . I have had 5 toe surgeries. Ingrown toenails super bad...I had both big toenails removed to see if that would help, then the sliver of nail on the sides on each toe cut then cauterized on the bottom and finally part of the skin on the top of one toe. I know all about the needles they do for anesthetic around the base, OUCH! I hope that it feels better soon, and the good drugs carry you on through

Many scritches to all your kitties and hugs to you :YMHUG: . I hope you catch some good zzzzz's tonight!

Re: 6/25 Cinco PMPS 187 +3 154 +5 176

Thanks for the visits, Amy, Elise, Carla, Liz,Wendy, Catherine, Chris and Rachel!

Amy, I was completely under for my other two foot surgeries, too. Although I recall they brought me out of it during the first one to tell me to move my toe - which I believe I did.

Liz, I am a wimp, too. I couldn't believe they didn't give me a valium or something to relax me. Luckily, they were talking and joking and singing along to Billy Joel and Elton John, and that helped me a lot!

Wendy, it was weird when I heard the saw going. It seemed like he was just holding it in the air, as I couldn't feel a thing (thank goodness).

Chris, I was enjoying the drugs this afternoon, but I don't think I had enough food in my tummy when I took the last batch, as I've been feeling nauseous for the past hour or so. I'm due to take another dose in about an hour, and then plan to go to bed. My stomach is saying "don't take them", but my head knows that my foot will make me regret it if I don't. I think I'll have to eat some ice cream to make sure it doesn't upset my stomach - a bit of a sacrifice, but I'm tough! ;-)

Rachel, it's lovely to hear from you! I had a "hammer/claw toe". The second toe on my left foot was all out of whack - it bent to the left at the top joint and humped up in the middle. Not only was it very painful on it's own, but that hump was rubbed by every pair of shoes I had until the skin was raw. I lasted until I ran out of shoes I could stand to wear, and then I told my podiatrist to fix it. He cleaned out the joints, shortened the toe and straightened it. There's a wire running through it lengthwise, and that's why I can't put any weight on it - the wire might break. He'll take the wire out in 4-5 weeks. When he was done, both he and the nurse assured me that I was going to be very happy, that the toe was now very pretty. I told them that was nice, but I was more interested in whether or not all that pain would be gone once it was healed! They said yes, so It's all worth it. Your toe issues sound nasty. This same podiatrist did a similar surgery on each of my feet, involving the big toe, 16 years ago. In addition to cleaning out the joints and shortening and straightening the toe, he removed bunions and bone spurs. For those surgeries I was off my fee for six weeks each time. That's when I was under general anesthetic, as mentioned above.

Cinco is being very talkative tonight. I just tested him at +5, even though he appeared to be surfing blue, because he was so noisy. Low BG is not the problem. Not sure what is, but I think I'll go pay some attention to him before I go to bed. Looking forward to getting at least 6 hours of sleep!
