Hello!

AMBG is 80

I would say that I got more sleep last night but yeah it was fairly similar to my usual schedule lately. :) At least I feel a bit more rested since I didn't have to worry about the insulin. Let's hope that Cain's pancreas is healed enough to do this trial. :D

I'm still having internet issues, though I'm not sure if it's my modem or the cell towers at this point. I have to call AT&T back up and see if they're still having outage issues.

Cain had his breakfast already, well second one since he woke me up this morning looking for food. I need to remember to give his b12 on the next feeding. I was too tired this morning to remember when I was giving them their food.

Thanks all for the visits this morning!

Have a good day everyone!

Re: 6/25 Cain AMBG 80 OTJ Trial Day 1

This is weird not testing.

Oh! I have a question. I'm not sure if it got answered last night, but do I keep the don't feed for two hours before a "PS" test? I'm guessing probably not but I don't want to mess it up.

Re: 6/25 Cain AMBG 80 OTJ Trial Day 1

I pretty much kept the same testing schedule during the OTJ trial, but I didn't get many daytime BGs anyway since I wasn't home. I'd test AMBG and PMBG at least, and maybe the +3s, so you can catch any wonky BG increases and start insulin again if needed.

Go Cain! :-D

It's a good idea not to feed soon before an ambg or pmbg, but remember you're not on such a strict 12 hour schedule now. If you need to feed a bit early, just test first. BTW, it can be useful to get a few spot checks after meals since typically food will bring the bg down with the pancreas working. Also several small meals or snacks during the day are helpful.

Re: 6/25 Cain AMBG 80 OTJ Trial Day 1

Well I suddenly decided to test Brownie since she was on my lap and I've seen her drink out of the water bowl more. She gave me a 49 which means it's probably the hyperthyroid acting up again. I changed the application of the gel about a week ago to the upper ear from mid to lower ear that I was applying earlier. I've had to do this before but it takes a few weeks to see a response I believe. Well it did before when she was losing too much weight. She is due for her yearly vet visit which I need to save up for. If I have to do another T4 test.... erg. That's more than the Lantus.

And I tested Cain for the heck of it. He gave me a 68. :-D Boy was I spoiled with Cain being an orange tabby. With Brownie, it was hard to see if her ear was bleeding cause her ear tips are black. I'm not sure how y'all do all the ear testing with black cats.

Ok I'll keep to a fairly similar feeding schedule. And some testing in there. But not like I use to. Like at night. I'm getting some sleep. But I can test before bed rather than a +2 since I am a night owl anyways.

HAPPY DAY 1!!!!!!! YAHOO!!!
Keep it down Cain!!!!
Sending wellness vines to Brownie. I don't know anything about hyperthyroid, but i hope she gets good test results.
Enjoy your night.. sleep, sleep sleep.

Re: 6/25 Cain AMBG 80 OTJ Trial Day 1

Looking good on Day One! Go Cain.

I also use either good overhead light or a flashlight on the black ears. BTW, vets can do just the T4 test by itself instead of the entire blood panel. It's a bit cheaper, although if Brownie is older, a yearly blood panel is probably a good idea.

I think this is the start of day 2. :)

PMBG is 76.

Thanks for all the visits! Really appreciate it. :-D Aww look at Gobbles in his harness. :D

@Wendy - Yeah I think they did T4 and a whole panel last time I got it done. Cost about $200. She's uh... 14 years old I believe. (Drat I'm losing track. Thankfully, the vet keeps track.) Same as Cain. Same litter. :)

And Brownie's having very soft poop. Is there something I can give her to help with that?

Make sure if you use pumpkin - it's pure, no spices or sugar. There was a discussion in Maggie's condo today about additives for hard poops.
