Do you mean he has BM all over the house and not just in his litter box? And does he go several times a day? Has there been any food change?

If that doesn't help you might need Flagyl (metronidazole). You will need a script for that. It tastes awful, so ask for the pill rather than the syrup/liquid. If you end up giving it, you will need to disguise it in a treat.

Yes all over the house. About 3 - 4 times a day or so. Smaller puddles.

Thanks, Bhooma. Well this exact same thing happened last time his numbers went on a downward trend in a larger curve. His numbers get low. He won't eat at shot time. I give him a little kibble (with chicken, which he's allergic to) to get him to eat before I give him his shot and/or after his shot if I can't monitor him. He's looking and feeling better, and I reduce his buprenorphine a little bit too..... After several weeks of this, he 1) gets diarrhea and 2) his numbers start going up in a larger curve again.

Keep in mind that with the last vet, before diabetes was diagnosed, he had diarrhea for at least a year. She couldn't get it resolved.

I was thinking of giving him a little more cerenia this morning, do you think that would help?
 
Is Squeaky displaying classic signs of nausea, like licking lips, sniffing food and walking away, vomiting? I would get a hold of the S. boulardii if you haven't ever gone down the probiotics route. It seems to be very good for IBD kitties in general to get the therapeutic dose of a half cap twice a day, or if there's diarrhea a quarter cap every few hours. Ruby's have leaving runny poos around the house right now too and this is what I am doing. I also add some slippery elm, as that can soothe the tummy and bind to the stool to firm it up, but if psyllium is all you have then I would try a pinch in his food as well. The antibiotics are sort of a last resort, especially for IBD kitties as it can mess with the GI balance.

No signs of nausea, except he's eating grass when he gets the chance and occasionally vomiting it up. But for him the grass is more like "I'm a wild cat foraging" game. Not necessarily problematic.

I have asked my new vet about the probiotics and she has always said no. "Re: s. bouldardii, Dr. Angie recommended waiting on a probiotic. " That was last September. Hmmm, I actually think I might have some, might try it in a few days if no resolution.

I have slippery elm, I can slip some in his food.

I'm really surprised your vet said no to probiotics. That's usually the first line of defense for IBD, and Ruby's internal medicine doctor recommended it when we weren't sure if she had IBD or small cell lymphoma. Now that I know it's SCL, it's still recommended to help. Curious to know your vet's reasoning. Has Squeaky ever been tested for exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI)?

Wow what an excellent article. I learned a lot. Giving him soft foods, with a little slippery elm bark, and a little extra cerenia and budesonide. If no change I'll try the probiotics tonight.

Bhooma, now the spreadsheet is updated and it's Friday. Do you think, an increase?
