Yesterday http://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=73699&p=799578#p799578 Neko started out with her lowest preshot number yet. Where she went after that was a mystery because I had to leave food out and go to a birthday party. Thanks so much to all who visited yesterday with words of comfort. Now that I've I had to leave my own baby cat under those conditions, I appreciate all the more those who work away from home every day who must worry/wonder how their cat is doing. In response to whatever Neko did during the day, she seemed to be flat pink at night.

It is now cycle 15 at this dose, and it still seems to be having good effect on Neko. Time will tell whether this is the one but it does seem to be settling her swings somewhat and still producing some action. Neko has 4 of her P's this morning. The pee is a mystery, but she's a one a dayer usually and does do some yard patrols so she could be using the larger LB outside. It does make it harder to do ketone checks.

I had a chat with a rower friend after today's paddle. She is a diabetic, on Lantus once a day with R at meals. She is taking 18 units during rowing season and 20 during the winter. Interesting because she is probably 10 times Neko's weight but Neko is now on 7 units twice a day.

Hi Wendy. You must be happy to see blue today. It's my second favorite color. :-D
I too, have a whole lot of respect and admiration, for those who have to leave their kitty every day, especially with a low preshot. It's scary to just have to hope kitty will eat fuds left out.

Have a nice evening. :-D

Hi Wendy and Neko,
Those are good numbers today for Neko.

Thanks for the scapes pesto recipe. We were going to make it tonight, but the afternoon got away from us. Tomorrow! We had hard neck garlic in our garden for several years, but last year nothing came up and we didn't plant last fall. So we are buying the scapes this year.

Nice to see that Neko is settling down on this dose.

Have a good evening,

Ella & Rusty

hi wendy! neko is looking pretty good at this dose - enjoy it! looks like she might be starting to clear her bounce today from those sweet little greens on the 21st. maybe she'll show you those again tonight or tomorrow.

how did the basket-making adventure go?

Good Evening Wendy!

We're so excited to see Neko settling in. I was chuckling last night because Munch and Neko seemed to have the same game plan in mind. Shooting low wouldn't have concerned me if I didn't have to be gone, well not too much, but leaving--You said it well--I have much admiration for those that can't be home.

Did your mom's party go well? Do you do a lot of cakes? Is that a passion of yours? I just got back into baking/decorating cakes. I absolutely love it.

PMPS 407
Darn, haven't seen a red number for 4 cycles now. grr_red But I have to remind myself that she was at 393 this morning, so not really that different in numbers but the bean is psychologically set up to handle pink more than reds. She was at 166 at +8 so that was quite the fast zoom up.

Again, Neko doesn't care about numbers. She went outside after dinner and collected a fine set of needles on her tummy fur and distributed them evenly on the kitchen floor on her way to park herself in front of the autofeeder for +1 and +2 dinner. We have some hemlock trees out back and she either lay on the ground under them or snuck under the fence to the neighbours and collected needles that way.

@Barb, blue is also my second favourite colour now. I don't worry about Neko and eating as she has always been on a seefood diet (see it, eat it). Never been a grazer. I would loved to have known when the frozen hard MC I put out yesterday was eaten, and if she even waited for it to thaw. It was gone by 3:00 when my friend stopped by.

@Ella - Neko seems to be showing a lot more nicer colours on this dose. I'm pretty happy with it so far. I have no advice on what works for garlic. My mother is the gardener in the family and I just follow her advice. This year has been a great year for garlic here and I can hardly wait to pull it up. We usually have enough to last us for 9-10 months before we have to buy again.

@Julie - Neko might have even done greens yesterday if I didn't have to carb her up to because I had to be away for the day. I hoping to see more soon as she does seem to be clearing her bounces faster and she's not bouncing quite as high (antijinx). I made my first bowl as a present for my mother yesterday, she was surprised that it was home made. Now I've just cut blue/green strips for a bowl to hold the BG testing supplies. Addictive!

@Reagan - I've often been the one to make the birthday cakes for our family. This was a larger party than usual so I bought a 12x18 inch pan and did 2.5 times my usual chocolate cake recipe. I'm not much into fancy decorating, but I did take a chocolate making course this winter and would have topped it with truffles if I'd had time. So, I just raided my mother's strawberry patch and put some of those on top.

heehee yes, they are addictive! glad to have gotten you hooked! ;-)

i know what you mean about being psychologically set up for one range of numbers - nothing bums me out more than a red or black number. neko will come back down. :YMHUG:
