Wow..the board has been out all day! Chi Chi decided to work the dose increase today too! She never got below 100/green however, so kinda disappointed. :YMSIGH: Hopefully she will start getting lower #s here real soon for me. I hope everyones kitties were safe today!! All the last 24 hours post are gone..poof!!! :o

Hi Laura, Today has been so weird, I was home too, but there was no forum to log into! I thought it was just me, because I posted something early this morning too, but it is all gone! :shock:

Chi-Chi looks great in blues, she may stay in blues for PMPS as well! Good luck with this dose increase, it will get better, don't worry!

that's what i've noticed too! everything's gone!

Laura, at this point i do think you want to try to keep Chi Chi from getting a reduction. If she can get a little time in with this dose, it may be enough to bring down the higher numbers and help reduce her overall range. I was just thinking that your mom's habit of overcarbing might be helpful right now! :lol: You might have her start doing it when Chi Chi looks headed below 100.

do you understand the gist of what i'm suggesting here and in your last night's condo?

Yep!! all of todays post are gone, and even replies to yesterdays post and my test #s are missing.. :?

Julie, the replies on my condo from yesterday are missing, but I get what youre saying. I dont want her below 50, but if she does go below 50, can I wait till she goes 3 times before reducing? or would I have to take the .25?

you can choose one or the other method, but if you choose to go below 50 3 times, then you really need to take the full 0.25u reduction on the 3rd time.

the idea is to not mix & match, ie go below 50 3 times and then shave. That becomes dangerous.

For her, for right now, though - i'd make the goal to prevent her from going below 50. If you can do it fairly easily - if it's a lot of work and a lot of carbing, then she probably needs less insulin. The idea is that being able to give her a little more insulin will help reduce those higher numbers.

Ok! I understand..I might find out pretty quick if she does drop low, and how hard it is to keep her up, and if it is difficult the first time, then I will decide then whether to shave, or reduce..Im sure I will need to be instructed again though when she does..thats just me typically forgetful about reductions/increases :roll:

it's ok! you might want to compare notes with Elise/Max's mom - she's been doing this for a couple of weeks and is having good success with Max's numbers flattening out.

I took a look at max ss and my goodness, she really does alot of testing! I wouldnt be able to do that, and dont think my mom could, but we will do what we can. I am only here all day on Tuesdays, so my job really gets in the way of me being more aggressive with her testing/monitoring..and the rest of my life too!

Soooo disappointed!! 100% fur shot tonight :sad: I changed the place I shoot more towards her back flank, hoping I would be sure she got her insulin. The skin back there is thinner and I thought I would avoid muscle if I shot there...ugh..very wet and smelly insulin, and I think it just went right through the tent. I suppose I still need to test tonite in case theres still some of the previous dose left and she could possibly go low? I was prepared to test frequently tonite and carb her if needed too. This was the first time I know positively she probably got zero insulin. :YMSIGH:

That PMPS was looking good. Sorry about the fur shot. Well done if this is the first time ever for missing all the insulin. I've done that much more often. :roll: :YMSIGH: I'd get maybe one more test tonight just in case, but otherwise it looks like you get a good night's sleep.

Hi Laura. I don't usually test nearly that often but I had to lately to keep Max from earning a reduction. He still managed to go below 50 Saturday morning at a time I never test. I only get one more and he gets a reduction and I don't want that to happen for as long as possible. I won't say it's been easy but at least I'm having success. I' hoping he will be at a good number when I test in a little while. If Chi Chi doesn't dive you would be able to test a lot less than I have been. I'll take a look at her ss. I'm also giving him some mc to keep him up at the first few hours. Sorry about the fur shot. I did it once and Max flew up. It was when I switched syringes and he was getting less insulin too.

Hi Elise! wow, you are doing such a great job with Max, Im impressed(ok..and jealous) of his spreadsheet. I know what you mean about not wanting those "earned" reductions because Chi Chi does not hold reductions well. I work such long hours so I depend on my mom to do alot of testing during the day, and to keep her safe when she drops. I could not do this without her, and in fact she just started testing within the past couple of months, and before that, I had little hope of her being regulated, just getting am/pm test and on my one day off, (and the late night test occasionally). Me and mom are gonna try our best to keep her above 50 and surfing those blues and greens! Keep up the good work and you should be so proud of yourself! Max is a lucky kitty to have such a great momabean :-D and oh, yes, dislike fur shots!

it happens to everyone, laura. don't beat yourself up! she'll go higher tonight, and you'll get to sleep - but she'll get back on track. :YMHUG:

max & chi chi don't have exactly the same situation. you don't need to copy the testing elise does. a person has to work with their own circumstances.
