Good Morning, Everyone,

Looks like Rusty has bounced a little from the lower numbers of the last few days, but hopefully he'll be back on track later today. He woke me up this morning with kisses on my eyelids. Then we had a good test, shot, breakfast (2 sittings) of Wellness turkey, a play with the new "Cat Charmer" toy and some of the toy mice, and now Rusty is sitting next to his dish. I cut down the size of his portions just a tad, so that we can get some of those extra ounces off. It's raining, so we won't be going outside this morning.

Instead of the bike ride I was going to lead but postponed because of the weather, I'm going to have lots of fun cleaning the house today! (It does need it). I hope everyone will have a good day, too!!!

Thanks, my friends, for the KTSS spa treatment at the Green Lagoon. The vetty smell was all gone by the time I got home. My mamabean says I won't lose any weight if I keep eating Tess's new pastry creations!

Morning guys! Rusty - dude, nice start today. maybe the land of the greens for you later on?

Sorry for the weather, and that you had to cancel your bike ride. I don't blame you, not always a ton of fun riding in the rains. You enjoy that housecleaning OK? I should too.... nah.... maybe later!

I am glad all went well at the vets yesterday. Wow on the weight gain. Mannie needs to shed a few pounds too. We try, but it just does not happen. Aiyee! Good luck - maybe the smaller portions will do the trick!

Rusty! Dude - your beans put you on a diet???  It's OK, we will figure out a way for you to still chow down on Tess's pastry creations! See you later? ~~ Mannie

Kisses on your eyelids -the best alarm clock ever!

I'm sure you're very enthused over cleaning the house today  Hope it goes quickly and you manage to have some real fun today

Ahhhh kitty kisses. What a great way to wake up and what great AMPS for Rusty today!

Biking or cleaning. I would pick biking, but the cleaning will be very rewarding as well. At least for about an hour before it is all dirtied up again. Hope you have a relaxing cleaning day!!!

Re: 6/23 Rusty AMPS 136

One thing that might be a clincher on the gas anesthesia - ask to see how it is administered.

I saw them do Buster once, who IS (was!!) very fractious at the vet.

They stuffed him into a tupperware container that he barely fit into -- his head was bent all funny to cram him into this plastic box. Rusty being even larger -- would have a tougher time I think.

They then seal the lid and start pumping in the gas until his eyes shut.

It looked AWFUL.

So -- I bought a mask/muzzle to go with his "catsack" and had a couple sessions with Dawn Allen, animal communicator.

The last 2-3 times that Buster needed bloodwork -- we've been able to do with NO SEDATION. I put a muzzle on him and hold his front end while the vet draws the blood from a hind leg (a tech holds the leg to get the vein to fill).

Re: 6/23 Rusty AMPS 136

Yes they do pump the gas into a cat box of ome type--My old vet gave ours light shots, which rendered them loopy & swaggering for hours after, but at least they got checked.
So glad he is well & vet visit is all over!!
House cleaning, Oh how I hate it!! I have a cleaning person every 2 weeks, it IS GREAT!!
Hope your day is good & productive--Big Hugs & Lubs to all of you from all of :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG: us~~!!

Wow on the gas anesthesia! Thanks Phoebe and Roni. I think that's what Stu had, but never saw him get it. He was always staggering around for about an hour after he got home, even though he was only under for a short time. I will tell the vet that I don't want Rusty anesthetized for bloodwork unless it is impossible to get the samples without it. I guess I have to have these various blood tests done so that I can have a wellness baseline. Stu had never had blood tests until he was obviously sick. I don't want to repeat that experience.

Rusty had a nice time outside in the late afternoon. A storm front was moving in and it was quite exciting with the wind blowing through the trees. Shadow didn't show up. I got the housecleaning done. Hooray! Today I also got the replacement strips for the Freestyle Lite from Abbott. The box of strips that was defective was a box of 50, but they sent me a box of 100!

Off now to begin putting dinner together (Tuscan tuna, bean salad from Marcella Hazan's Italian cookbook). Rusty will get a little piece of tuna (he doesn't usually care for fish, but he likes that canned tuna in olive oil; I wash off some of the olive oil).

Back later,

Ella & Rusty
