Hello All,

Picked up Marvin's new meds today. The compound Pharmacist was really nice, wanted to know more about how I found out about a research in the UK, for this. He also was curious about that other expensive drug that works, so going to send him the name. I was surprised they prepared each dose in a syringe, so I didn't have to do it. nice, he did mis quote the meds, but gave it to me at the lower price this time, 20.00 difference, so not a big deal especially since the doses are pre-filled in syringes. You should have seen Marvin's reaction when I feed him the first dose, it was so funny, surprise shake head, shake head, lick lips "what the ^&* did she sqirt in my mouth".

I skipped his morning shot, I forgot the alarm this morning. Good thing it's a long weekend here. It would have been almost 4 hours later. What is the right thing to do in these situation? As I wouldn't have been able to go back to his normal schedule slowly enough.

I was also curious, cause I notice on some peoples SS that there are two dose number (35, 5R). Assuming this is a mix of long acting and fast acting insulin. Didn't realize you could do that. How does that work?, should I be investigating that? Saw on @Bronx's dad and I think on @Wendy&Neko SS

R = regular insulin, used sometimes with high dose cats, but in the beginning, you have to be able to test hourly for the first 4 hours or so, and need someone with experience to guide you.

Good luck with the cabergoline. The other drug is paseriotide, or Signifor, preferably the LAR or long acting version that is an once a month dose. When I investigated two years ago, it had been approved for use i Canada, but just recently and my vet could not find out how to get it.

I am in Portland racing today, so an R discussion will have to wait until I get back next week.

If you are four hours late, just skip and continue next cycle.

thanks, I guess the best time to test it out would be when I am on vacation. Will wait a bit just in case this trail drug, does help.

R is a good tool to have to drop BG to a # the Lantus/Lev can "grab onto". Must be started in very, very small doses since some cats can drop too low on a tiny bit, even high dose kitties. And you don't want R and Lev nadirs to overlap. But too much R will cause too large of a drop resulting in bad bounces causing using more R which is not a good cycle to be in. I learned the hard way.

Good luck with the Cabergoline & keep us updated. I am very interested in seeing how Marvin does on it. Do you know the dosage you started with?
