What lovely numbers !!! Jupiter is laying on the cat perch in front of the window. He loves watching out the window for the birds – and if there is a bird very closeby he will sit there and meow at it. Good appy today.

Sorry I have not visited many condos lately – will try to catch up on some condos later. Hope you all have a great day!

Hmm any suggestions on when to test next? I was not feeling well today and forgot to pick up food for the 2 hours prior to shot time. I got him to eat a little at shot time with a FF appetizer on top.

I am nervous about his numbers still dropping but am trying to test as little as possible while still keeping him safe

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I would test at +1 and at +2 just like you did the other night when he had a PS of 68.

How often you test all depends on the numbers, but that's what I would start this cycle out with.

He ate a good dinner?

He didnt eat very much at shot time, but its possible thats because he had eaten a little before that... since I forgot to pick up the food

As long as you have lots of strips and some HC or syrup if needed.

I am just trying to be as conservative with strips as possible - but of course I want to make sure he stays in safe numbers. I just cant afford to buy more strips right now.

+1 - 66... and I put him infront of his plate of food where he free feeds. He is eating a little LC


I know these numbers are safe - I just get so nervous for some reason... especially when I am having a hard time getting him to eat... or when hes still dropping and the onset hasnt even happened yet

How many strips do you have? It looks like this might be an active cycle.
Does he like HC? Do you have any MC? Would he eat one of those?

I have some HC and he loves the gravy. I have some FF gravy lovers and some friskies shreds in gravy. I think the FF is around 20% and the friskies around 15%... and I have some 9% friskies food. his normal food is FF pate around 4-6%

Oh what a relief, he is at 64! he did eat some LC... now as long as the insulin kicking in at +2 doesnt drop him lower, he should be good tonight. should I wait 1 or 2 hours to test again?

I would test in 30 minutes, but I test a lot when I can. It's up to you. As long as he ate some food, I think you can wait one hour. You really want him to surf and not go lower, so keep offering him food. Does he like to be spoon fed? J.D. does for some reason. He wasn't all that interested in his leftovers from his meal, so I took a plastic spoon and offered it to him in spoonfuls and he eats it off the spoon.

Whenever I need him to keep eating... I just open up a fresh can each time... I open it infront of him.... and put a few spoonfuls on a plate.... or when he doesnt eat at shot time... I just put a little spoonful of a FF appetizer on top or some of the juice from the appetizer and he gobbles it right up

Jamie, Hope Jupiter keep surfin' for you! Great numbers - the "pop" of the can seems to make my guys eat better too. I am grateful that Cleo is just chillin' out on the patio. Easy for me to get her to test when she is there.

I am having a really hard time getting him to eat tonight... Im thinking its just because its so hot in the house... its 88 degrees in our house right now and the cats all act hot and miserable and have much less of an appetite.

last night when he went low, he was eating soooo much LC food, and I think thats what kept his numbers above 50... i mean he ate more then hes ever eaten before.... but now tonight he really isnt eating much at all

I see he is at 62 at +2.5. Please test again in 30 minutes. I am going to lay down, but will set an alarm.
I would appreciate if you keep you ss up to date, in case I get up and just refresh it to check on you, and then go btb.

Hoping for a nice smoooooth surf for Jupiter tonight.

thanks... i will test in 30 mins from last test

i am usually fine when he goes low... but it makes me nervous when he isnt eating well and thats why i was so worried tonight... but he just ate a pretty decent amount after last test so i am feeling a little better about his numbers

+4 was 76. Looks like he will keep surfing. I know he likes to drop a little later in the cycle so I am going to test a few more times during the night. So glad he ate earlier. Gonna have to get a few more FF appetizers - thats the only way I could get him to eat anything tonight after PM shot. I think with this really hot weather his appetite is very poor.

+5 - 78 .... okay well since he is surfing now... I think I am going to nap for a few hours... will wake up in a few hours to check on him and test again since sometimes he likes to go lower late in the cycle... any suggestions on when to test next?

He's pretty flat...what do you think about a +6.5 test....space it out just a bit?

Ok...I'm headed for bed, too. If he's up quite a bit, maybe grab a +10. Try to sleep.
