Prayers for Claudia, Darren and Comet. She has been evacuated due to the Calgary floods and is staying with her brother-in-law.

It has been forever since I opened a condo. I finally got a computer at home since my other one died, but for some reason, I can't sign in to FDMB. I have to figure out what is going on. Meanwhile, I am at work so I can update what has been happening.

Simon is doing pretty well. His appetite had really gone bad, but he is doing much better and eating the majority of his fuds. I think his arthritis is really bothering him and the adequan shots don't seem to be helping as much anymore. Vet suggested acupuncture in conjunction with the adequan. I'm thinking about it but money is tight right now, so I'm not sure if I will be able to swing it.

As most of you know, I adopted a shelter cat, Missy, a few weeks ago. Immediately when I got home, she started crying out alot when she was eating. I brought her back to the vet at the shelter and he said her teeth were ok. I brought her back home and she continued being in pain. I brought her again to the shelter and saw a different vet that is a cat specialist. She took one look at Missy's mouth and said she will probably need multiple extractions. I can't believe the first vet was so stupid!! Because the shelter stands behind all pre-existing problems, Missy was able to go see another vet for a dental and I didn't have to pay anything :-D . I really liked the vet and Missy had a dental done on Thursday. She had 3 teeth extracted and all her toothies cleaned. The main problem is that she also diagnosed Missy as having a mild to moderate case of stomatitis. I really don't know anything about that disease but I have been reading up on it. Right now, Missy is on antibiotics and then will have a round of prednisone after that. I will see the vet again in a month. She mentioned that if the problem continues, Missy may have to have more teeth out and even possibly ALL her teeth. Poor baby! Shelter will continue to pay for all treatments. She is doing pretty well right now and is eating and not crying out. She is also on bupe so that helps.

Sorry this is such a long post but there has been so much going on!! I am supposed to be going out of town tomorrow for a family reunion up in the North Carolina mountains. I am really nervous about leaving, but DH will be in charge at home. He is unable to go because of all the problems with his mother, sister, and nephew right now. Things are just so stressful that I can't begin to tell you about everything. It reads like a soap opera. I'll tell you more later.

Lots of love to everyone here on LL. I may not be able to post again until I get back from my trip. I'll try to post from my phone.

Re: 6/22 Simon AMPS 202

Georgia, so good hearing from you and thanks for updating us on Claudia, Darren and Comet. My thoughts and prayers are with them. Glad Simon is doing better but sorry the Adequan doesn't seem to be enough. Good luck with the acupuncture if you're able to do it. One of the Vets in Maggie's clinic suggesteed it might be an help for her. She's on Dasequin and is helping. So sorry on all the issues with Missy and great that the Shelter is paying her medical bills. Sending Simon and Missy healing vines and hugs for you.

I've been thinking about you guys and am so glad to see a Simon condo. I'm glad he's feeling better! Poor Missy...and poor you! My goodness. I'm glad her dental seems to have helped, and that the shelter is paying for her bills. I don't know much about stomatitis (aside from the fact that I personally suffer from mouth ulcers and can tell you they are excruciatingly painful), but I have heard that full mouth extractions can help. Hopefully it won't come to that. Do she and Simon get along? I hope they are happy together!!

Hi Georgia,
I, too, have been looking for you on the board and am glad to hear that Simon is doing better. I hope his arthritis will improve. Poor Missy. I hope the vets can get her healed and well again so that she can enjoy her new life with you. She is a brave kitty and has been through an awful lot.

If you are in touch with Claudia, please tell her that we are hoping that the floods will subside and that she, Darren and Comet will be home again soon (and that there will be minimal damage to their house).

Have a safe trip to your family reunion. I hope that all the family issues and problems will get resolved and that you, DH, and the kitties will be able to relax soon.

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Hi Georgia, good to hear from you! I'm glad Simon is doing better. :-D :-D Eat yer fuds, Simon! Poor Missy, that does sound miserable. I'm glad the shelter is paying for everything. Sending tons of vines for her and Simon. Hugs to you, Georgia. Thank you for the update on Claudia. I hope her house is ok.
Liz
