Yesterday on Ruby's Way. :cat:

Making biscuits and "cleaning" mom's arm alarm. ✅
Hungry for yummy lamb breakfast. ✅
Low blue start. ✅

The new dose seemed to keep Ruby in some good numbers yesterday. Let's hope it continues.

Today is Ruby's 12th day on prednisolone.

Sending healing thoughts for all of the sick kitties, especially @Suzanne & Darcy and @Butters & Lyla today. Have a good Tuesday, everyone! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Good morning Katherine. How many more days on prednisolone? Just remember, once she’s off of it, her numbers will most likely return to her low greens. Prayers. Have you taken Olive for a checkup? I know you have so much free time . I just hope today is a good day for all. Today is all we have (until tomorrow). Thinking of you all. Sending giant hugs and prayers :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thanks for the good wishes as always, Adrienne. I don't know how long Ruby will be on the pred. It really depends on her. I'm calm as long as her numbers stay below 200. Olive ate a bit more last night and this morning, but not her usual amount. Her blood work in April showed nothing to be concerned about, so I think the logical next step would be an ultrasound if she does not improve. Sigh.

Hi Katherine, could it be pancreatitis? Has she had the SNAP test? Prayers for improvement. Eat Olive. Eat Dolly. She just had a 53@+2. Does their appetite change in these low numbers? I don’t remember, I don’t remember a lot these days. Ever since my fall my memory fell too. :banghead::banghead: Or it’s just old age . I hope you all have a good day and Olive eats. Have you tried Mirtazapine? I had to give that to Dolly a few times after she came out of remission. I needed to jump start her appetite. I guess you wouldn’t want to give that if it covers up other problems. IDK. You have a lot to deal with. Sending prayers and hugs and hopes that Olive eats. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

I saw this about Olive last night in Adrienne’s condo. I am sorry to hear it. Hopefully she will start eating normally again. Keep is posted! As Ruby’s sister we want to know all about it! Ruby needs her!

Thanks, Suzanne! Yes, they need each other, more than I will ever understand. This is the two of them snuggled last night. I want them to be like this for a long time.

So beautiful! Did you say they were litter mates or did you just adopt them at the same time?
I adopted them at the same time when I saw them together in a cage at Petco. I went there looking for a pair of black cats, but these two sweeties chose me. I met the man who found them, a livery cab driver from Queens who rescued them from a parking lot. Can't be entirely sure they are from the same litter but they have a lot of the same facial features and have always been very close.

So guys, last week I may have mentioned that I interviewed for a full time job. I found out just a few moments ago that I got it and I start in two weeks! I'm really really excited!:woot::woot::woot:

DBF is still WFH, so he can take care of daytime feeding and testing. My schedule will be 10AM-6PM, so I figure my current test/feed/shoot times will still work. My only great misgiving is that I won't be able to watch my kitties as carefully, but perhaps this is the perfect antidote to my current mode of helicopter cat parenting. I also won't be on the forum as much, but I'll be around at night and on weekends for sure.

Congratulations, you certainly can use the me time even if it is work. So happy for you Katherine. I will miss you during the day and hardly expect you to come home and post. We will catch up weekends. This is great news :joyful:.

Thanks, Adrienne. Frank and I have spent 24/7 together since the start of the pandemic and it will be a big change for us to be apart so much but we will adjust. I have some major vet bills to pay and this job will help me do that and be able to take care of my kitties' special needs. So relieved.

So glad we are retired and together most of the time. 37 years and we really like each other, can talk for hours. I am truly blessed. So glad you can get those bills paid and take some stress off of you. So glad you have Frank. I remember how he took care of you, things, while you were recovering. There are always things to be grateful for, sometimes you just have to look at what’s right there in front of you. :) My gratitude button sometimes gets turned off  and I have to remember to reset things and switch them back on. I’m grateful for people like you that have come into my life and share common goals, our precious cats. I’m grateful to you for making me laugh or smile or just care about us and I can care about back.

I'm the same way re: gratitude. I am so grateful to have had this year to spend with Frank, to take care of Ruby and go through the steep learning curve of feline diabetes with nothing else but that to focus on. Super grateful to have you Adrienne as a friend and every one here who keeps me company every day and give me a sense of purpose and community. :bighug:

Yay!! Congrats on the new job!!

Ooooh, congratulations Katherine! I was wondering, but didnt want to ask.

I hear you on mounting vet bills, oops.

Make sure you buy yourself something nice as well to wear to the office, now that you know you can pay it off ;):p

OMG, I've been wearing t-shirts and sweat pants for a year and a half! Now I have to get dressed up again every day. I do need to go shopping! :woot:

A big congratulations Katherine! I just have a strong hunch you will be great at your new job. The kitties might even be glad to have a break!!! I saw a video in community, where cats were celebrating when their people finally went back to work!

Thanks, Jan! This new job is a real step up for me and I think it's a good fit all around so I'm thrilled. :)

Hi Katherine , oh my god Olive and Ruby are just too adorable
Prayers Ruby's numbers come down
How is Olive
Congrats on the new job, I'm so happy for you, get some of those vet bills paid off
I'm happy Frank is still working from home to take care of the kitties
Starting at 10:00 is great, at least you can spend a little time with Olive and Ruby
before heading off to work
How far away is the job from your house

Thanks, Diane! I do love their matching pink noses on my furry faces.

The job is in Chelsea, so it takes about 45 minutes, but that's if there's no traffic in the Lincoln Tunnel .

Congratulations :bighug:!!!! Enjoy shopping for the NON athleisure clothing :D
Thanks,Amy! I am at a total loss right now of where to even shop for non athleisure! I've been so out of it that I don't even know what the cool kids are wearing these days. :)

I've heard people calling the weight they gained while socially distancing the 'quarantine nineteen' which in my case definitely tracks. Sigh.
