6/22 Kit AMPS 89, +1 113, +3 92, +7 123, PMPS 129, +2 78 , +4 75

Supplement question. Kit has arthritis, and is currently on twice a day transdermal gabapentin. She had been on gaba that could be added to her food, and she stopped eating. Then we went to liquid, and she started hiding under the bed at all times. So the transdermal has been a gods send.

We were using cosequin that we mixed in her food as a supplement ages ago, but again, she stops eating when it's mixed in her food. Pre coming out of remission I had been giving her these supplements
(https://app.chewy.com/QP4opzu5PAb), but wasn't sure if they were okay so had paused. She seems like she's having problems moving, so I wanted to see how problematic they might be to re add in.

I want to touch base with her vet about a shot called solensia that I've heard others have found did great for their cats arthritis, but her vet had her reconstruction surgery yesterday because she had a mastectomy last year after finding breast cancer. I have a backup vet, but Kit does not travel well, and her regular vet thinks she'll be able to maybe Tele health after 2 weeks.

All that to say - thoughts on the supplement listed above?

The product does contain maltodextrin, which is apparently high in carbs than sugar. Other products I used for Neko's arthritis were hyaluronic acid (produce Hyaflex) and Duralactin. The latter can only be used if calcium is not high and kitty doesn't react to dairy. Check with your vet before using.

That is kind of a bummer. I do like the Vetri Science products; they are well-formulated. I just got one of my cats her first Solensia injection on June 15, so too soon for me to tell anything about it, but we will see.

Oo - I hope the shot works - I'm eager to hear how it does. I've heard good things from the (possibly too many) cat groups I'm in on Facebook.

Cosequin also does a treat form, but it has starch in it, so it also seems not great.
