Hi,
'Re whole cat report'.
Alice has been on Lantus for almost 10 weeks - it was a new vial which has been kept in the fridge. The month prior to this she had Canninsulin (dreadful stuff but did save her life when had DKA!).
Alice was reducing the amount of Lantus she needed until she only needed a drop but at the same time she would shoot very high bgs so was unlikely to be a bounce and just didn't make sense. The vet thought her own pancreas was 'pulsing' sometimes but that seemed unlikely to me as it was always before her shot that she was so high. In the night I was constantly checking her for lows. She has now gone into reverse and is much less sensitive to the insulin although today at last she has gone into the teens again. Now I guess I will have to be diligent & check her for lows again. She has had high BGs for several days now and been very lethargic and drinking much more. She has been peeing and pooing quite a lot (4 times in a day).
Today she seems a little better. She has been awake more. Still lethargic but with encouragement I was able to get her to chase a mouse on a stick for a short time - not a lot of energy though. She ate more than I remember her ever doing this morning! Not so keen tonight but numbers looking better(now hoping not too low in night!). She probably needs her teeth cleaning. Wish I's asked for it whilst she was under sedation recently. Her breath does smell sometimes but seems to be ok again at the moment.
