Because I suck, that's why. Poor girl - she maintained the 200s till at least +8 when I checked before going to bed (after waking up on the couch). Stupid fur shot...
Well, this morning's better have gotten in her. Like I said - I definitely got the needle in her last night - must have somehow come out the other side. But I didn't smell the insulin on her immediately after when I smelled her fur. It wasn't till I got home after my walk that I smelled it on her.
Her appetite was fairly lousy this morning, but I think I got nearly all of her breakfast (2 Tbsp FF) in her. So - she's starting the day with a fairly full tummy. Hanging out on the papasan cushion next to Blue's cage with me.
I had to tighten the E collar on Blue today. It was getting looser and when I checked this morning (it looked like it was sliding down his back!) he could have easily wriggled out of it. I think after keeping it fairly tight on him for the last week, he may have given up on even trying to get out of it - so even when it loosened, he didn't try. But I'm not taking chances while I'm at work. Of course, now I'm watching him, wondering if it's too tight (I can fit at least 2 fingers in it). Poor guy - one more week of this, hopefully. Today - this afternoon, really - is 2 weeks since his surgery. He no longer heads to the left when he walks - he can adjust for the missing leg. Not sure how he figured that out in the cage, but he did. The incision is covered in white peach fuzz - makes it look soft focus. I wonder what will happen the first time he tries to jump up on the couch. I've stopped him from trying so far - he seems convinced he'll make it up there, just like always. I have another set of pet steps (the first set is next to the bed) that I picked up at a yard sale and I need to disinfect them and then we can put that near the couch. Not sure how he'll manage the steps at first, but hopefully he'll pick that up as fast as everything else so far.
