A great way to start off our Monday. I don't have as much flexibility to work from home this week, but I'll have to see if I can run home at lunch to see if I can catch nadir.

AMPS (7:00am) - 269
+10 - 420
PMPS (7:00pm) - 459

Unbelievable. I wasn't able to come home at lunch to check for nadir. But when we did get home at 5:00, we found that Casper has turned into houdini kitty. She managed to open a box of cookies and ate some while we were gone. I guess I'm not that surprised that her +10 reading is 420. But I'm also rather ticked off at her.

Should I shoot early?

I would stick to your regular shot time. Early shots require considerable flexibility with your schedule and if you're working, this will be a problem.

I went ahead and waited until our regular shoot time. Ugghh. I so disheartened by this evenings numbers. I guess the positive in the whole thing is that Casper is acting as if there is no issue - running around and begging for food. And the last time we were this high, she came down and had a nice day. Crossing my fingers.

I think it's likely that Casper saw some blue during the morning cycle and what you're seeing is a bounce. When BG drops into ranges that the liver isn't used to, it has a protective response. The liver dumps out stored glucose along with counterregulatory hormones which then shoot BG levels way up. It can take up to 72 hours for this to clear, although some cats will clear the bounce fairly quickly. Not to worry -- it's all part of the process.
