6/20 Xena AMPS 270, +3.5 241, +7 229 / ** INCREASED TO 4.25 U** PMPS 241, +3 231, +5.5 236

3 per cycle. 1/4 can just b4 her shot, 1/3 can around 2.5-3 hrs after, and 1/3 at about +6. I’ve been testing her b4 I feed her.
I try to keep to that schedule as much as I can.
Makes sense. Thanks so very much. My problem is overnight feeding.

Allie eats a whole can at her AMPS and PMPS  Fancy Feast is smaller cans.
She gets fed 3 per cycle too - 1/2 can +4, 1/2 can +9 (If I feed sooner than +9 she won't leave me alone at dinner and begs, which she never did!).
I'm trying to move my dinner time so I can make hers.
My problem is staying up until to feed her at +9. I'm lacking sleep. Tried the feeders...No way.
She will eat 4-5 cans a day! I'm trying to cut her back now that her numbers are lower and her body can process the food.

I'd like to be on that schedule, but because we have several appointments per week I'm not home at those times.

It’s definitely a challenge. If I wasn’t working from my home office, I’ve been in a lot of trouble.
I have to feed her at 4 AM so that means setting an alarm to get up or sleeping on the couch with the TV on until I feed her, which makes for a terrible sleep schedule. I know they have auto feeders, but I test her when I feed her, so… And I know I probably won’t have to tester as much as I’ve been, but when she starts having lower numbers which I hope happens, I’m going to have to keep an eye on the line, so…
Feline diabetes is a much easier thing to prevent then to treat. Every single time I see somebody buying dry cat food I warn them. I know not many people will take the advice, but if any do, that’s better than nothing. I feel like an idiot for allowing this to happen. Really annoyed with myself.

I used to work from home for years...Guess I still do in a way LOL You are lucky.

Allie seems to be pretty steady in her numbers so I try not to test a lot at times gives her ears a break. I've thought about feeding at 4am but I stay up until 2am get up at 7am check her and lay back down otherwise she will bug me to eat. I don't test enough at night but that could change as her numbers do?

My first sugar cat! I've had cats, dogs, birds, chickens....you get the idea never an animal with diabetes. It is also prevalent in people also, even the younger kids now.

I hear ya...I thought I was feeding my cats good! They were even on a prescription diet! Why do they do that?? When I realized the carbs in the food ...you'd think I would have known better. I feel guilty too.

I try to educate too. When I'm checking out at the store and people see the amount of canned cat food I explain to them my cat is diabetic. I get it.
