Morning LL,

WCR Sara is doing good, but I suspect a possible UTI. Her #'s have been a little high lately for her. She did get a dosecrease and I was thinking that it was'nt sticking. Than yesterday someone pee'd on my bathroom rug. It was sticky. I don't know if Sara's #'s would produce pee that is sticky? It could be one of my other cats. But the reason I suspect her is because her #'s have been a little higher and thats where she used to urinate [no box in there] just before I found out that she was diabetic. Also I have seen her now that I think of it down stairs where the litter boxes are more often.

She has a vet apt. this thursday.

Would Sara's #'s produce sticky urine?

Is that characteristic of a UTI if they are diabetic?

Thoughts?

Have a great sunday.

Sara is staying well below renal threshold (somewhere around 250) so she should not be dumping glucose in her urine. Any stickiness is presumably not caused by her diabetes, but you really should talk to your vet; I have no idea what else could cause it. Diabetic cats are prone to UTI because of glucose in the urine, so again I would think that really shouldn't apply to Sara. A vet exam to get a sterile urine sample is a good idea!

I don't know about sticky urine other than it may be that it has partially dried. With a UTI brewing, that's the soonest the vet can get you in? See if you can catch some urine in a ladle and pour some over a paper towel (or put a piece of tissue/paper towel beneath Sara when she's peeing). You might want to check to make sure there's no blood in her urine. If so, there's pretty much a 100% chance she has a UTI.

Moonie has had sticky pee sometimes, dont think it had to do with a UTI, btu anything can happen..
Hope Sara is just fine--Nice numbers today!!

I wouldn't think she would be spilling glucose, but it seems like a good idea to get her checked ASAP. A UTI could explain her numbers.

Can you BG test your civvies? If anybody is spilling glucose, that would be good to know.

Thanks everyone for your advice. It was pretty much dried and maybe thats explains the stickiness. Sara had a apt thursday for a checkup before this came about, but I will see what I can do.

I was hoping that it would'nt be any of my civies. I have one that freaks out even if I put frontline on him. I'll have to see what I can do. So I was hoping that it might be a possibility that it was Sara. She's so easy. The reason I immediately thought of her was because thats where she had been going before I knew it was her and found out she was sick.

She acting fine Pat. And Sienne I'll get a sample and check for any blood.

Let you know when I find anything out.
