Hi all it's been awhile since I posted & alot has happened.

Panzer gave me a bit of a scare this morning when I saw a 70@+2.5 AMPS. I fed him his regular snack of 1/4 can of FF even though I knew it was going to be an active cycle. He very rarely is higher than his preshot # until +3 or +4. Here lately he has been high, I believe he was bouncing but I'm not sure. Anyways I immediately called my best friend Laura to see if she could help me with one of my bigger houses that I had to clean today. She was busy but was able to get here by a little after +5 which gave me time to keep testing him. When I tested him @+4.5 & got the 55 he was showing signs of being lethargic, so I immediately gave him 2tsps of MC & retested him @+5 which brought him up to 59. I left shortly after that & we speed cleaned so I could get back to him & she could make it to her next appointment. I think he would possibly have dipped below 50 if I had not stayed with him & given him MC.

I had him on 3 units for quite some time & every time I would think I needed to increase he would drop right back down in the greens. I did finally increase him on 6-10 to 3.25 units & he's been up & down & I was thinking about increasing & then this morning happened.

I wasn't able to get enough houses quick enough to keep Laura working with me full-time. She needed more $ & I was struggling to pay her even with the extra houses. I ended up picking up 6 houses & had 12 which was 1 to many for me by myself so I dropped one. I've got 11 now & Laura has had 2 jobs that she didn't like & is going through the process of getting hired on to a sister company of Eli Lilly/covance which is right here in my hometown so I won't be able to get her help once she starts working there.

I wasn't able to take urine in 10 days after Panzer was finished with his antibiotic because I was broke & I still am. He may have another UTI now, sometimes he does the pain meow before peeing but not all the time. As soon as I get my rent paid if he's still periodically doing it I will take urine in to be tested. I really don't like that they don't do urinalysis at my vet but if I take him to the other vet, they won't do anything for him until he has his rabies vaccine, which I'm trying to steer clear of. I feel like I'm stuck in between a rock & a hard place. I either stay with my vet now that doesn't require him to have the vaccine but also doesn't have higher technology that Panzer needs. I don't know what to do???

He's also been very, very talkative here lately which is not normal for him & I know that could be a sign of CKD & he's past due for bloodwork which I will be saving $ for after my July rent is paid. He's eating 50% Weruva & 50% Fancy feast, sometimes turning his nose up to the weruva but eating it with fortiflora. I'm trying to get him on the lower phosphorus but it's not working out to well.

Ugg life just really sucks right now!

As you probably know, I am not a huge fan of over-vaccinating my (strictly indoor) cats. I believe in getting them their kitten shots of rabies and the FVRCP series (two shots, three weeks apart). I NEVER vaccinate for leukemia or any of the other shots that are sometimes offered. I also do not do annual rabies vaccinations on my cats and my vet is fine with this. She knows where I stand on it. However, if I ever have to board animals there, the cat would have to be up to date on rabies, FVRCP and Bordatella -- unless the cat is ill and then she will make an exception and will board them in a separate area and will not require the vaccine. She's done this for me several times for cats with IBD, CKD, SCL, etc. and has boarded them away from other boarded cats because she also does not like to vaccinate sick animals. Having said all that... (sorry, it got long) I recently had to take my cat to University of Georgia to have radiation treatment to squamous cell carcinoma on his nose. He absolutely had to have a rabies vaccine or they would not see us. So, I had my vet order the Merial PUREVAX rabies vaccine, which is the non-adjuvanted vaccine. I believe they are safer that the traditional adjuvanted rabies vaccine. There's a lot more I could say here, but it would get waaaaayyyy too long if I were to go into the reasons why and how the vaccines are made. I guess this is my long-winded way of saying that, if you end up having to have Panzer vaccinated for rabies, then I would definitely feel more comfortable going with the PUREVAX. They may need to order it (my vet did, but some vets stock it.) It costs a little more, but is definitely worth it for peace of mind. Actually, it was Dr. Lisa Pierson who put me on to the PUREVAX vaccines years ago when I had a telephone consult with her about one of my cats. She recommended them... but she also recommended not "over vaccinating" my cats (which I was glad to hear.) She said a lot of interesting things about vaccines on that phone call. A really nice woman, Dr. Lisa. I believe all of the information about where she stands on vaccines is on her catinfo.org site.

And I can't believe Panzer was on antibiotics again for a UTI. I haven't checked in with you for a while. And... refresh my memory... is he getting Cosequin sprinkled on his food?

Thank you for the info Suzanne. Panzer had the PUREVAX about 2yrs ago at the vets that refused to take him on as a patient( the same vet I fired after they pulled all of his teeth except his 2 canines)unless he had it, I needed insulin (prozinc at the time) so I had no choice. He didn't seem to have any side effects from it, so I may look into it. I fired that vet because they told me to continue with the dry food & to mush it up with water so he could eat it until his mouth healed. They also told me there was no need to test as much as I was to only test before insulin & keep giving him 6 units! I didn't listen because I knew better. He was immediately dropped down to 3units & kept getting reduction after reduction.

I haven’t fired the high tech vet that Panzer & Spook were seeing or gotten there records. So I can always go back there. They send me emails & texts all the time saying Spooks & Panzer are due for there annual check ups, there rabies vaccine & bloodwork, so far I just ignore them. I just worry because I lost 2 cats to tumors from vaccines, but it was from the feline leukemia vaccine that did them in. I really need to get Panzer's UTIs under control because I know having them is not good on his kidneys. I worry so much about losing him, so much so that I told Laura & my daughter that when his time comes, I am really going to need them because it will absolutely crush me & I may hurt myself. I don't like feeling that way but I can't imagine life without him :(

He's just had the 2 UTIs since we've been back with my old vet but that's 2 to many. Yes he gets cosequin sprinkled on his food one time a day & I also have been keeping up on the Thunder ease diffuser. He also gets D Mannose every day as well.

Another question I have is I've been noticing Panzer's 3rd eye lid some. What does this mean? Is it something bad ?

It won't let me add anymore #s to the thread title he is 211@+5. Looks like the MC is kicking in as well. I feel so bad that he's so high, but it's better than to low!

False alarm I will be watching & testing though...he gives some Rollercoaster cycles sometimes up until next shot sometimes. I fed the normal slippery elm @+4 PMPS, he's awful sleepy

I think the bounce is over fingers & paws crossed...he bounced for 7 cycles. I changed the injection site from the left side to the right side for AMPS & will continue on that side, I've noticed that, that makes a difference sometimes.
