day 14 in kit's switch to lantus/relion from prozinc/alphatrak2
day 1 of 3 for refilling the depot from yesterday's AM BCS

hopefully we see some blue in this cycle.

still concerned about kit's weight loss. in general she's eating a bit less, but her appetite seems reasonably good. she did seem more thirsty than usual this morning.

kit’s weight
19jun 10.2 lbs (yesterday)
13jun 10.6 lbs
07 jun 10.6 lbs (first day on lantus)
02 jun 10.8 lbs
16 may 11 lbs

have a great day everybody,

My cats weight seemed to fluctuate until we got a bit better regulation....it might level out as the numbers do but you are doing a good job a keeping track of it.

thanks ari.
it's reassuring to think it might just be "part of the process" rather than to go into a turmoil about it being an additional issue.
we try to weigh kit regularly, so we'll keep at it.

Ari is right - until you get better regulation, it will be harder for Kit to gain weight unless you feed more calories. I tried weighing regularly to make sure I was feeding enough. Has your vet given you a target weight? After regulation, the issue will be more one of trying to keep them from being too "fluffy". I got good at checking calories as well as carbs, in what I was feeding.

we have a little spreadsheet action going to stay on target for calories/carbs. we also consider phosphorus bc bladder crystals.

we've been doing kit's meals by weight to be consistent. the trick is getting her to eat all the meals ;) lately she's been not completely finishing, particularly in the evening. and she's had two small vomits in the morning before amps.

when we last took kit to the vet in mid-march she weighed 11.2 lbs. the vet was good with that weight, but i don't know that she specified a particular target.

i think for us, it's seeing the fairly consistent down direction that draws our attention. it's good to know that the regulation is a factor. all the more reason to learn to shoot those lower numbers

thanks, ^jw
