Champ's last condo was a bit ago so I'm not going to dig back to try to find it, especially since he's just coasting along like normal, healthy and sweet as can be!! He had such a great day yesterday and I'm hoping it continues.

I've been surviving on three hours of sleep for the past three nights because of work. When you're self employed, work tends to be feast or famine....you're either swamped or there's nothing to do. Because of that, I take all the work I can get whenever it's available so I don't have to stress as much when things slow down. I think today I'll take a nice LOOOOONG nap since it should be a much less hectic day. Fingers crossed!!!

I just found out a couple days ago that my brother-in-law was just offered, and took, a job in Texas. My parents live there and my sister and brother-in-law bought a house there about three years ago, going to visit my parents and their house ( :-D ) a few times a year. They've been waiting for the right job to come along so they could afford to move out there and it looks like now is the time. My sister is my best friend. I've never lived away from her before. I'm going to miss her like crazy!!! My brother-in-law is one of those guys that, when you call for help, he's right there asking what he can do. I don't know what I'll do without him when something goes belly up in the house, or with my car, or out in the yard, etc., etc. He's saved me more times than I can count. He's just one helluva guy and I love him!!! They're leaving in two to three weeks and, boy, it's going to be hard!!

Back to cat stuff, I bought some syringes at ADW, a brand I hadn't bought before, to see how I liked them. They're called Sure Comfort. DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT buy these syringes. They are so bad, they should be pulled from the market. I've attached a picture of two syringes. The one on the left is a Monoject and the one on the right is the Sure Comfort. You can clearly see the difference in the two. The Monoject has their markings exactly even from zero to 0.5, 0.5 to 1, etc. The Sure Comfort, on the other hand, has twice as much space between zero and 1 than it does between 1 and 2, 2 and 3, and 3 and 4, and then another huge space between 4 and 5, another huge space between 5 and 6, and then repeats the cycle. I actually counted out the drops and was surprised to find the difference in the amount of drops from the Monoject to the Sure Comfort, when measuring from zero to 1 unit, were within about a half a drop of each other, mainly because there is no "hub" on the Sure Comfort so no extra insulin "hiding" up there. However, the markings for the zero line are so off from syringe to syringe that I got 5 drops from zero to 0.5 with one syringe and 11 drops from zero to 0.5 with another. THAT'S RIDICULOUS!!!!! These syringes are going back. I ended up having to buy some Relion's from Walmart because I didn't have time to reorder the Monoject's from ADW and get them in time before I ran out. The Relion's are very accurate from syringe to syringe and getting any bubbles out is so easy with them, but are just so hard to get to your exact dose without squirting your insulin out!!! The plunger tends to stick no matter how you try to gently twist. Oh well...at least I know Champ isn't getting overdosed or underdosed on a cycle by cycle basis now!!!

I hope everyone has a great day!! I'll get to condo's later on today when I've completed my work and have taken a much needed nap!!!

Re: 6/20 Champ AMPS 197 - info on Sure Comfort syringes

Hi guys .. I'm so happy to hear that champ is doing so well .. and I'm glad to hear you are getting what sounds like a much needed resting day! Sorry to hear about your DS and DBIL moving away .. It will be hard at first, but it will all work out .. and I'm sure they are excited, but also sad about being away from you as well! How crazy on those syringes being so bad! I'm glad you were able to use the relion in the meantime and hope your new order or syringes comes in quick .. have a great day!

Re: 6/20 Champ AMPS 197 - info on Sure Comfort syringes

Good grief on the syringes! I've come to the realization that most syringes suck and none are perfect, good thing Leo has become a big gulper and a little more or little less insulin isn't going to be that big of a deal. But what is everyone else supposed to do?

Sorry to hear about your sis moving, looks like you and Champ will have to go visit in Texas!

Nice AMPS Champers, have a good day you two. :-D

Re: 6/20 Champ AMPS 197 - info on Sure Comfort syringes

Great to hear from you. I know on the syringes, if it isn't one problem it's another. this morning i only got 5 drops from .5 instead of my usual 7. I double checked it, but it does waste insulin. I wonder if MJ will ever make the .1u increment syringe they talked to Marje about?

Bummer on your DS and DBIL moving away. It's nice to have backup close by.

Glad you could get some rest today. We miss you!

Re: 6/20 Champ AMPS 197 - info on Sure Comfort syringes

Hi Patty & Champ,

Sorry to hear of your sister's upcoming move. Maybe you should move, too, since you are self-employed

It's wonderful to read that Champ is doing well. Thanks for the info. on the syringes. I'm really down on the newest lots of Monojects because the needle doesn't come all the way down into the hub. But I guess the Sure Comforts make the MJs look good! Following Marje's lead, I now use digital calipers to help get an accurate dose on the Monojects. I'm still learning how to do this!

Happy Summer Solstice!

Ella & Rusty

Re: 6/20 Champ AMPS 197 - info on Sure Comfort syringes

Hi Patty, thanks for the warning on these syringes. I once bought some animal syringes from ADW, and they were horrible. This last batch of MJ's seem okay except for a few rotten ones here and there! I feel so bad for you with your DS moving out of state. My best friend (who was also like a sister) moved away quite a while ago, so I understand what you're feeling. Glad to hear Champ is doing well. Hugs.

Re: 6/20 Champ AMPS 197 - info on Sure Comfort syringes

Good grief on the syringes! They are making us all crazy. We have the calipers Marje suggested and have not yet started to use that, but are working on it. I was interested to read about the sure comfort syringes because I had not seen those before (or complaints) and was waiting to see before ordering. So, thanks for saving us the money. Glad that the Champ is being a BG champ! :-D

Re: 6/20 Champ AMPS 197 - info on Sure Comfort syringes

Wow on the syringes. I saw those online and almost bought them last week. Glad I didn't! So sorry to hear about DS and DBIL. That will be really really hard. Now YOU just need to move to Texas!!! Then you would be closer to meeeee. That would be all you need. Thinking of you and hoping that the move for them goes well.

Good old Champ just plugs along. He is looking great and what is better is that he is such a sweet guy. That is great that you have so much work. I suppose I would be the same way if I worked for myself.

ONE WEEK!!!!!

Re: 6/20 Champ AMPS 197 - info on Sure Comfort syringes

Hi Patty, I never visited your post, but you gave me some good advice on the Adequan a month or so back from Amy's pm. So thank you again for the help. I'm about to start Daphne on it soon.

Champ looks great, I was looking at his SS the other night making sure the Adequan will be safe for the BGs, and it looks like Champ is doing well on it.

So sorry to read about your DS and DBL moving. I only live 15 min. from my DS and I still have trouble seeing her,…life just gets busy. I do have a new grand nephew and he lives there also, and I really miss him so much. I was going to see him tomorrow, but it's going to be so hot, I may not leave home. Don't forget you will have video chatting, I know its not the same, but at least when I don't get to see the baby, I can see him on the computer.

Thanks for the syringe info, and thanks again for the Adequan help!
