6/2 Ruby AMBG 106/PMBG 179 Home again.

Found this old pic of Ruby when she was about three in my mother's garden. My sweetie was always so calm outside, I could let her go without holding the leash and she would pace around cautiously, sniffing and looking around.

I like that little harness. Where did you get that? I guess that was a long time ago so you probably don't remember. Paws crossed for the endoscopy today. I hope it goes well and it's not too hard on Ruby. Did you have to fast her last night?

I think I got the harness at Petco. I liked the cowgirl kerchief pattern. :cat:

Yes, I made sure Ruby ate shortly before midnight and then took away the bowl. She did NOT like the fact that I went about my business getting ready this morning and did not feed her.

What a good girl to let you use a harness and leash. Pretty kitty. Prayers that everything goes well for your girl and nothing serious is found.

Just dropped my sweet baby girl off for her endoscopy. Decided not to give insulin this morning even though she was higher than last night so as to have one less thing to worry about today. Hope this procedure gives us the information we need. Hugs to everyone. :bighug:

Hi Katherine, been thinking about you two all day, sending prayers for Ruby. Recovery sounds so human Beany ish:) I’m anxious to hear the results, can’t imagine how anxious you must be. Sending big hugs and hopes for good/manageable results. Ruby is a beauty. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
 
It's after 6 here...I hope the news is good when you get her home!

Cute leash!! Luci just falls down when I put the leash on her...she just doesn't like it at all!
 
RUBY IS HOME! She was great in the car, did not cry, and actively tried to break out of the carrier. I brought her into the apartment, let her out of the carrier and she ran to her (empty) bowl. I had to bribe her with treats to get her to sit still for her test before I fed. I went slowly, feeding her .5 ounces at a time over the course of a half an hour so she wouldn't barf.

The results of her biopsy will be available in about 5 days. The IM said that she definitely saw that her duodenum was inflamed, "angry" and "friable" (I had to ask her what that means, as it obviously wasn't about potatoes!), but the pathology report should have more information. If the histology is inconclusive, tissue samples will be sent for PARR testing. They also preserved samples for future Lymphopro testing.

Relieved that experience is over. Am going to hold off on giving insulin until she calms down a bit to see where her pancreas takes her.

Aaaawww! Ruby is home and hungry. So great to hear! I am smiling at this computer! And what's up with the Lymphopro testing? You say it has been suspended? Why? I do know about PARR testing. Love on that girl tonight! I hope she will be bird watching in the morning.

I got the first report from a junior pathologist, which wasn't 100% one way or the other, so we went to a senior pathologist first. Same result though she suspected I was dealing with IBD and emerging SCL. :rolleyes: Then PARR - those results take longer but confirmed it. My new word of that day was epitheliotropic. :bookworm:

My favourite harness was the Kitty Holster. So easy for me to take on and off, not so much the cat. Neko flew to Denver and back in it. They have a boutique line too!

Katherine, you must be emotionally exhausted. Enjoy Ruby and that this procedure is behind you. You have all of us praying that the Duodenum ( I looked it up as I am sure you did :bookworm:) inflammation can be treated with antibiotics or whatever they do to treat intestinal inflammation- Malox (does anyone remember that?). Hope you can relax this evening or go to bed and and get some good sleep. Sending loving prayers and giant hugs :bighug::bighug::bighug:

The lab that ran the Lymphopro test dissolved earlier this year, so the doctors who developed it are trying to find a new home for it.

Now that Ruby's had her fill to eat (she was trying really hard to break into Olive's feeder after her own food was gone), she's been lying on the bed and letting us give her belly rubs. She seems to be doing very well. You can't even tell that she was in the hospital all day. And she doesn't smell like scented kitty litter. Hallelujah!

I gave Ruby a good rub down with a warm moist washcloth and dried her off with a piece of clothing I wore two days ago from the laundry hamper. She purred the whole time. Olive didn’t really interact with her much tonight but I’m sure they will be fine tomorrow.

I hear her trying to break into Olive’s feeder. Time for another scoop of food!

LymphoPro Feline Dx will be run out of TAMU moving forward. It will take approx 6-9 months... if all goes well...to get it up and running again. Dr Steiner(who co developed the test and is at TAMU) confirmed with me that they will Re market it to all the vets once it is officially ready to go. In the meantime, I inquired about the ability for biopsies done now or the near future, to be prepared and preserved & run once the LymphoPro is running again. As per Dr Steiner, theoretically it should be able to be done without an issue. An IM who is doing the biopsy would need to reach out to Dr Steiner directly to discuss it prior to doing the biopsy & proceed from there.

I LOVE the Kitty Holster as well! @Wendy&Neko the boutique line and custom lines are super cute:)!! I would definitely recommend ordering direct from them for a fun selection & they put the cats name on them if you want them to :bighug:! Also, there is a company on Etsy out of Ukraine called AllCatsGood that makes a similar item but in additional fabric selections.

Thanks, Amy. That is so interesting. I have had two cats now with SCL suspected and I was not willing to do a laparotomy on either or them (endoscopy was a possibility but it was in the muscularis on Julius.) We treated anyway (Leukeran/Presnisolone) and had great QOL for years with my Maverick. Julius never got to that point and was on pred for IBD/possible SCL when he died of other causes. So I am very interested in knowing about this test. TAMU seems like a great "home" for this test. May I ask what you do for a living? You are so knowledgeable about all of this stuff that I am assuming you work in the veterinary field in some capacity. Sorry I don't know this already (I'm sure others around here do) so I thought I would ask. Your information is so helpful @Tomlin . Thanks!
