Still yucky BGs so dosecrease tonight! Otherwise, Zener is doing fine. Bean had minor heart attack last night when I opened the new box of syringes and they are 1ml instead of the usual 0.3ml. We had a few spares in the emergency box so it was fine.

I ordered some gabapentin powder in capsules. We may try sprinkling on the food or mixing in water and syringing. I don't think that will help the taste though. This morning, I immediately syringes about a ml of water and that worked much better, no gagging and just a little drooling. Poor Zener, his is such a good sport about it all.

OT: bean is getting a dental today. :-x Hopefully, no extractions. :lol:

Hey Zener, you supporting Japan and England in today's matches? Lots of other good teams to support in the World Cup today and they've all got yellow, blue or green in their flags. Time to head on down for a bit. Good luck on the dosecrease tonight Liz.

Ugh on the syringes. :-x I always keep a spare squirreled away in a different spot, maybe I should make it two or three.

Good luck on the dental, I should book one of those too but kitties come first.

Work that dosecrease, Z!!! Yikes on the syringes!!! Good thing you noticed right away and had spares. We had a family friend who someone didn't notice he had the wrong syringes and accidently overdosed his kitty. Fortunately he realized it the second he pushed the plunger and rushed his kitty off to the vet and all was well, but it was quite a scare!

I hope the powder works better for Zener, but at least the water syringe after the gaba helped a little. Poor guy. Our kitties really are such good sports....they know we're helping them so they do their best to help us, even though we're not always graceful about it.

Good luck with the dosecrease tonight. Good thing you noticed about the syringes before you used them. Lucky you had some extras. I hope your dental went well.

I hope Zener is eating good today.

If the gabapentin tastes bad, wouldn't it be easier to give it to him in capsules wrapped in pill pocket or something?
I worry that sprinkling it may make him not want to eat his food.
If one dose is less than one capsule, the powder can be transferred into smaller empty gelcaps, no?
Or a compounding pharmacy can make tablets out of powder.
Just throwing in some ideas in case he doesn't like the powder sprinkled on his food. :smile:
