Yesterday's Condo

Another late condo. Sorry. I went to visit Sasha today. They are keeping her another day because she developed an ulcer in her left eye. The vet said it is common in cats that have long surgeries because the eyes get very dry and are easily irritated. They have been putting an antibiotic gel in it and an ophthalmologist looked at it today and said it should heal with no issues. They want to see improvement in it before they release her. I spent about half an hour with her, down on the floor, just petting and loving on her. She was happy to see me and purred up a storm. The vet student, Amy, said she's the most popular kitty there, and other students keep offering to do her checks, but Amy says, "no, she's mine". I gave her a good cuddle before I left. She only did a little hopping around for me. Amy said they just took a catheter out of her leg before I came, and that had inhibited her movements, so she wasn't used to being able to move around yet. They will call tomorrow morning after the doctor sees her and let me know when we can go get her. I was very proud of myself that I didn't cry.

Cinco was a flat yellow kitty this morning, so I gave him a pokey break. I'm okay with a low yellow surf, although I'd prefer a mid to low blue one! If he keeps this up for the next couple of days, another dosecrease may be in the cards for Sunday night. We'll see. He did stick his toe in the lagoon yesterday. Just puttin' it out there...

Harvey is being very needy and picky about his food. I'm not sure if he's still feeling off or just feels like he's not getting enough attention. I'm giving him plenty of loving, but I refuse to open three different cans of cat food to get him to eat (for now, anyway). He gets his choice of two and usually ends up eating one after fussing for a while. Little knothead.

Sending healing vines to all in need, and hugs to all their beans. :YMHUG:

I'm glad you were able to visit Sasha today!!! I'm sorry about her eye, but boy do they seem very on top of things there - that has to be a huge comfort! It is great when the techs are so loving, too...good for the pet, good for the owner.

Flat yellow...do you have plans for MamaBean tonight, Cinco? Go easy on her, OK? A nice blue surf - nothing too dramatic!

Harvey - eat up! My civvie Petey is being fussy today, too. I think it's a hairball in the works, but no matter what, it is stressful  .

I hope you can get some R&R tonight, Tricia!

it's so hard having a furkid sick, and especially in the hospital. i hope she's home with you very soon!

That is one flat yellow cycle today! about the flattest yellow cycle ever!

Glad to hear you got to visit Sasha and that they're taking such good care of her!

Soon she'll be home with you where she belongs...if you can get them to give her up! Sounds like she's quite the popular little kitty!

Nice of Cinco to stay so nice and safe...but I hear you....nothing wrong with a nice BLUE flat cat!

Maybe Harvey is missing Sasha and that's got him off his food? Or picking up on your worry and it's affecting his appetite....or he's just being a cat

China came up to meet Cinco today...she threw him a line and is going to try to drag him down with her tonight..Hopefully not quite as quickly as she's going though!

Hey Cinco! I'm just a little kitty and can't pull too hard...You're going to have to paddle a little bit on your own!! ~ China

(((Tricia)))
I am glad you got to visit Sasha today.
I'm sure your presence was very comforting to Sasha.
It sounds like she's in good hands, getting extra attention for being the most popular kitty.

Sending many healing vines to Sasha, and appy vines to Harvey.

Re: 6/19 Cinco PMPS 212 + 3 139

Looks like those flat yellow during the day might have meant something. Steady does it Cinco. No need for drama tonight. Bean's got a lot on her mind right now.

I'm glad you got to visit Sasha today. :YMHUG: The university vet offices really do seem quite good, lots of enthusiasm and caring was my experience.

Thanks so much for visiting, Amy, Julie, Chris and Mariko.

Hey, China! Thanks for dragging me down to the lagoon! My Mamabean really needed a reason to smile, and she's very happy right now. I don't understand what the big deal is. She said you and I need to stay out of trouble. What does that mean? - Cinco.

Thank you, China. I am happy to see a green number, albeit barely green. I don't even mind if there's a PJ party tonight, as I have a lot to do. Tomorrow is my DH's birthday, and I'm baking his favorite cheesecake for him right now. Then I have to wrap some presents. I'll be up a while!

I don't think Harvey was missing Sasha, but I think the disruption in the routine might have affected him. I'm not sure if the NSAId helped, or what, but he ate every bite of his dinner and asked for more! :-D The cheese trick is still working, too. We're on a roll!

The vet student called later this evening and said Sasha is doing well and she fully expects her to be ready to go home tomorrow afternoon. We had garage passes for the Sonoma race track for 5:30-6:30 pm, but looks like I'll have to give them to someone else, as we have somewhere more important to be! We'll go to the track in the morning and watch the first practice and do our "shopping", then it's off to get Sasha. We can watch final practice on TV after we get home. I think we are going to set up the cage we have, which is about 4'x3', in our bedroom, as that is where Sasha normally spends most of her time. There is room for a bed, litter box and dishes in there, and we'll keep her in there most of the time for the next 10 days. Once the stitches are out, she can be as active as she wants. I've already discussed some of her care with Amy, and we will talk to her and the surgeon more about it tomorrow. There will also be written instructions for us. They are so thorough there. I really like having her at UC Davis, because it is a full hospital, and if there is a concern, they just bring in a doctor from the applicable specialty. It's so much better than your average Vet clinic, no matter how good. My baby is in good hands.

Julie, I got the "knothead" comment from my Mom, too! There was no swearing in my house growing up, but there was some name calling! None of it hurtful, of course. I have fond memories of that term and use it affectionately now.

DH just went to bed, and I'm off to wrap his gifts. I'll be testing Cinco again at +6, just to make sure he and China didn't get carried away.

Re: 6/19 Cinco PMPS 212 + 3 139

Hey, Wendy. We were posting at the same time. Didn't mean to ignore you! Yup, that flat day did mean an active evening, but I'm up for it!

Wonderful news about Sasha. I'm glad you got to visit. China heard the threat I think. Not too low so maybe you will get some sleep.

I'm glad Sasha is doing better and you got to spend some time with her. I hope she gets to come home today.

Nice to see Cinco dip his toes in the lagoon.

I hope Harvey's appy gets better.

I'm so glad Sasha can come home today. I'm sure she'll be thrilled to be back with her family, even though it sounds like she has gotten tons of lovin' at the hospital!

Yay glad to hear Sasha is ready to come home today!! Will be keeping her in my thoughts and prayers that she recovers from this surgery and adjusts very quickly.
I am so glad to hear how great your vets office is. It really sounds like every just LOVES Sasha, and it sounds like they are doing a great job taking care of her and keeping you informed.
I'm sure you already know this, but if you have any questions or need any advice that I might be able to help with, please ask.

Happy birthday to your DH!!

Oh, i bet you are so happy and excited that Shasha is coming home today! whoop whoop! Sounds like you will have her all set up and ready to go.
Cinco is looking good too!! Smiles all the way around!!

((Tricia))

You've really had it crazy lately but you are strong and such a trooper. I"m glad Cinco is doing so well and that Harvey does not have a UTI!! Super news. And his bloodwork has improved...even better.

Poor, sweet Sasha but it sounds like she has been getting fabulous care. I know you will be nervous bringing her home but you will be the most awesome nurse. I recently saw a video of Jupiter and I could not believe how fast he ran around and jumped up in the air and all with only three legs. It brought tears to my eyes at how great he looks and plays. So I am praying for Sasha that she will have a similar complete recovery but also that her biopsy comes back negative and she does not have to have radiation.

I hope your DH had a great birthday. Thinking of you today as you bring Sasha home. Extra healing vines for her eye.
