Bella is doing very well this am
Bella’s sister Abby is at vets, took her yesterday about 5:30 for her surgery this am, she is having her right thyroid removed, they gave her a huge cage, lots of room, her blanket, bed, bowls, toys from home. Worried, never had a cat have surgery other than being fixed, need prayers, comes, thoughts, anything from u guys today, will post updates later, thanks my fellow beans:bighug:

Vetty vines for Abby. She will be ok. I have a good feeling :):bighug:. I have never heard of them removing a thyroid - just treatment (meds). Why are they removing it?

Sending mega-vines for Abby!!!! :bighug: :bighug:

How long will she be at the vet's for this? :nailbiting:
They said she could come home today but they said when she gets home she needs to be in a room by herself, I’ve been thinking about that and how I would keep her in my room, I don’t have a bedroom door, live in a mobile home and when I bought it, there was no door, why, I don’t know, I thought I would see how she is and maybe ask if she can stay q more nite there
Thanks Nan

She’s can’t take the doseage she needs to get levels down, vet and @Kris & Teasel both have told me that that’s the way they used to do it all the time before the i131 treatment, she needed 10mg a day and it made her really really sick even tried starting her on smaller doses, I was up to 6mg for the past 2 days and she was puking yesterday morning, wouldn’t eat and she is down to 6lbs

Hmmm.... Do they have people there overnight?

When I used to foster cats in an apartment that didn't have doors between the rooms, I bought some cheapo baby gates that I stacked up to block the doorways. Maybe you could try something like that? Problem is that if Bella and Abby are really bonded, one or both of them might try to climb up and over.

The other thing I used to do with a cat that needed to be separated was I would borrow a large-sized dog crate (the kind that's a big cage, so the kitties can interact with each other while separated). Perhaps the vet would loan you something like that?

Hey that’s an idea I will ask vet, I thought about the baby gates, only problem was that’s where 2 ,kitties hang out during the day so I didn’t know if they would try and get over ,bella is to fat and lazy I think to try it and it would probably scare him anyways, don’t know about Andy he might try it, sammie would be scared of it, I don’t know if someone is there over night, glad u said that. Thanks!

Yes they have someone who comes in at 11pm to 1am every night

They are done with surgery and she is doing fine, the tumor ended up being on the left thyroid not the right, he said it was huge, we have to keep eye on the right one, he wants her to stay over night, he sent it off to make sure it wasn’t cancer. So they will call me tomorrow, they said someone would be there in the middle of the night to check on her.
Thanks for all the well wishes and vines, they worked:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hooray, thank you for letting us know. Healing energy and restful thoughts to Abby, relaxing thoughts to Momma Bean. I know you were worried, and won't rest easy until the fur baby is home. Rest up before your nursing duties increase, Bella's butt, Abby's neck  :)

Well I get a break tonight and tomorrow night, they close at 12 tomorrow and I’m can’t get off till 6, they had said before surgery (yesterday) I could pick her up today but I guess they want to keep an eye on her, I’m taking food this afternoon and guess I will have to get her Thur.

Yeah! I’m glad it all went well. At least the recovery time she will be contained & feeling much better when you do pick her up. I’m so happy they got the tumor & she’ll feel like a new kit!
