I'm still having trouble with the bubbles. I tried drawing out more insulin. I tapped it to the top. I drew in more air. Then when I pushed it out insulin came out but not the bubble. When I tried it with water last night I wasn't getting air bubbles. I need to figure this out because otherwise Max is getting different amounts of insulin each time. :? I'm also a little confused with his numbers. With a 210 last night I thought perhaps he was going to bounce and perhaps he did or will this morning. However his 163 this morning means he "might not". So I didn't do anything different this cycle.

Re: 6/18 Max AMPS 163

Hi guys .. ugh, bubbles are the worst! I sure hope you can get it figured out .. The amps this morning looks good, fingers crossed max has a nice surf today! Have a great day guys!

Re: 6/18 Max AMPS 163

Peyton and I wanted to come say "HEY" to our friend Max :)
I was having trouble with bubbles but Chris taught me how to get them out. Now my problem is fur shot :( Going to try not to let that happen again. Looks like Max will have a good day!

Re: 6/18 Max AMPS 163+1=183

I read what Chris wrote to you about bubbles but I still am having problems. Never happened before, sigh. I like these needles better but this is driving me crazy which is very easy to do right now!!!

Re: 6/18 Max AMPS 163

Hi Elise,

Long time no talk - I've been watching what you and Max have been doing and I've noticed a lot of very late nights, along with Julie and Peyton. I hope things are calming down a bit and that you're getting a little more sleep. I wish I could help with the air bubbles but I think what you're doing is a great idea. Hopefully, you'll find the trick that works for you.

P.S. I just want to compliment you on the great work you were doing helping some of our distressed, little kitties, particularly over the weekend. I was following along, reading your posts and I found them to be calming, supportive and informative. Atta girl, Elise - you and the many, countless others who continue to support worried CG and their sugar babies are what makes FDMB such a great, positive experience. If we have three kitties currently undergoing OTJ Trials then it's because of you wonderful people. Thank you!

Anne

Re: 6/18 Max AMPS 163+1=184+3.5=117

Hi Ann. Your post made my day. It's not that long ago that I was a newbie here. I still feel that way in some respects. So if I can help in any way, I try. I appreciate your comments. Thank you.

Re: 6/18 Max AMPS 163+1=184+3.5=117

Looks like Max is going to give you some blues and probably some greens! Hopefully he slides down nice and slow!

I have trouble with bubbles sometimes too. One thing that helps me is to press the plunger in as I'm sticking it in the vial, and pulling back quickly. The pressure will try to pull the plunger back in the vial, but that seems to have helped me with bubbles.

Re: 6/18 Max AMPS 163+1=184+3.5=117

Thanks, Jen. I'll try that tonight!! I do always push the plunger in all the way first but I've been trying to draw it out slowly. Which syringes are you using? I forget. I also am noticing that there is still a tiny drop left in the syringe after I inject. Every type of syringe is different. These slide really easily. One interesting thing I noticed is when I open them up, they are all at 2.5 units. I wonder why? I just got back from spin class and am checking my posts and other condos. I hope Eddie did well last night .

I just saw your condo. Great job in keeping Eddie over 50. Looks like the dosecrease is working nicely. :RAHCAT

Re: 6/18 Max AMPS 163+1=184+3.5=117

Hi Elise! I use UltiCare syringes from ADW. I ordered a whole ton of them to get free shipping while we were still using ProZinc and shooting with U100 needles and doing the conversions. I'm generally fairly pleased with them. I do have to push the plunger around to lube them up, as they don't push real smoothly when they're "dry." Eyeballing them, they appear to be pretty consistent in the markings, although I haven't looked at them real closely. I did get calipers but haven't tried them out yet. And Eddie sure is on a green streak this morning! He finally did let me go in to work, so I have my fingers crossed that he'll stay green. Going to try to get his condo up shortly here. :-D Glad you got a chance to get out and go to spin class. Looking forward to seeing what Max does for you today.

Re: 6/18 Max AMPS 163+1=184+3.5=117+4.5=75

Anne is spot on in her post. You have helped Peyton and I so much and calmed when I thought my heart was going to pop out of my chest. I will forever greatful for all you have taught me and the rest of the FD family :)

Re: 6/18 Max AMPS 163+1=184+3.5=117+4.5=75+5.75=60

you deserve all the kudos, elise. you do have a wonderful way with people and i, too, have noticed how much you're helping new people. thank you!

i'm not sure what else to suggest on the bubbles. are you using a new pen? if so, maybe it's that rather than the syringes. i've heard some people have success with drawing the dose slowly and some like to do it quickly. i just did it at an "average" speed. whatever works!

and isn't max looking awesome today. it's probably because you left the computer open and he realized things might get shook up in his world! hahahahaha

maybe (antijinx) he's going to stop bouncing on his own. most do - maybe even though you're having trouble with the dose, you've hit a sweet spot and it's holding him down. mr greenie is very happy with Max today!

Re: 6/18 Max AMPS 163+1=184+3.5=117+4.5=75+5.75=60+6.5=58

Sure would be nice to know the reason, wouldn't it Julie? Sure can't tell by how he is acting that's for sure!! Yea, I left the computer open when I ran out to class and then again when I went to get info from my car.

As for the bubbles, I'm using a vial. It's strange that I never had these issues before now though. i can get them up to the top but when I bring in more air and let out a little juice, the bubble remains. I'll try it with even more than 3 units tonight and see if repeating the process helps at all. It doesn't bother him but it's hard to know how much juice he is getting.

Re: 6/18 Max AMPS 163+1=184+3.5=117+4.5=75+5.75=60+6.5=58

not to mention how aggravating that would be!

are you putting the needle into the insulin top, then flipping the whole thing upside down (vial on top) before releasing the plunger? Have you rewatched the video to see if there's anything in your technique that could be tweaked?

i do think some syringes are just worse than others, regardless of what you're doing. maybe the plunger isn't sealing the barrel as well as others, but i know you've had several in a row that are making bubbles.

Re: 6/18 Max AMPS 163+1=184+3.5=117+4.5=75+5.75=60+6.5=58

I haven't had any problems with bubbles so to speak so I really can't offer any ideas, sorry.
Max is looking pretty good today, way to go!!!

Thanks for visiting our condo!

Re: 6/18Max AMPS163+1=184+3.5=117+4.5=75+5.75=60+6.5=58+7.7=

I watched the video again and can refine I think. It wasn't an issue in the past. I'll let you know how it goes.

Out of room in the subject line so here's a recap and addition:
AMPS 163
+1/184
+3.5/117 fed lc
+4.5/75
5.75/60 fed mc
6.5/58 fed mc
7.75/68
8.5/96

Now Max gets a break until PMPS. I hope we don't see a bounce but won't be surprised if we do.

UPDATE: Still a big bubble. I got it to the top but not out,

Re: 6/18Max AMPS163 +6.5=58+7.7=68 PMPS 101+1=128

Woohoo! So nice to see Max keep it to the blue and green floors. I so much prefer bi-color days to tri-color (or worse). :-D

I use BD's which are notorious for bubbles. That's all we can get in Canada though so we are all practiced on getting rid of bubbles. If I get a bubble to the top, I draw down the plunger a teeny bit, do a small tap on the top so the bubble centres under the needle (instead of at the side), then with the needle pointed up I push up the plunger. I always draw in about an extra half unit so I can get rid of the bubbles.

Re: 6/18Max AMPS163 +6.5=58+7.7=68 PMPS 101+1=128+2=107

Thanks, Wendy. Maybe I pulled the plunge down to far in an attempt to get the bubble out. I will figure this one out too, I hope sooner rather than later. Yes, bicolor days are nice. He's supposed to surf nicely now. I hope he read the manual.

Re: 6/18Max PMPS 101+1=128+2=107+3.5=61 or 47?

I just tested Max and I wasn't sure if there was enough blood the first time which said 61. The second test was 47. I have no idea which is right. I fed him some MC with a little HC on it. The question as to whether I need to take him down I guess depends on how he does the rest of the night?

Re: 6/18Max PMPS 101+1=128+2=107+3.5=61 or 47?

No advice on the bubble issue here, but I just wanted to chime in and tell you that I think it is awesome the way you jump in and help the newbies out when they are having issues. You are a very steadying, comforting person, Elise, and I think we are all lucky to have you in LL.

Max is looking good, despite the concerns you have with the dose. I think you might be on to something.

Have a good night, Elise.

Re: 6/18Max PMPS 101+1=128+2=107+3.5=61/47?+4.25=56

Gosh you guys, thanks for the compliments. You're going to give me a big head!!

Okay, Max. Time to come up a bit and surf. Why didn't you read the play book which says you will not dive but surf when I shoot low numbers?

So I'm feeding him small amounts of MC/HC for now.

Fed gravy at 4.75
