Good Saturday Morning, Everyone,

Rusty vomited at bedtime last night (he eagerly gobbled up his FF T&G bedtime treat and then barfed it and some of his bedtime food). In retrospect, I think he was under the weather yesterday. Edward said he slept all day. He was eager for breakfast this morning, but then retreated to his basket. Last night I tried to give him 1/2 of a Pepcid A/C wrapped in an allergy pill pocket, but it was refused and I didn't want to stress him, so just let him go to bed. This morning he sounds like he is trying to get up a hairball. I hope that's all it is. Anyway, test was good (very good), shot good, good lb contributions, breakfast has been eaten. And that's where we are. Is the Pepcid dose 1/2 tablet or 1/4 tablet? (can't remember what has been said about it and I have never given it).

We have an exciting day planned: a trip to the landfill; mowing the grass; visit to the farmers' market (which has just begun--yay for the farmers' market). Rusty will probably look forward to a visit from Shadow, but he hasn't appeared yet.

Everyone have a good day. Healing vines to all kitties and beans who can use some,

Ella & Rusty

Re: 6/18 Rusty AMPS 104

Sorry that Rusty isn't feeling well......Pepcid is 1/4 of a 10 mg tablet (this is what our vet told us to try with Zoe). Nice AMPS...for not feeling well. Enjoy your day....the Farmers Market sounds wonderful.

Re: 6/18 Rusty AMPS 104

Morning guys!

nice start for Rusty today - great amps! So so sorry for the pukus - Hope it is just a hairball. Maybe he just ate too fast last night?

on the pepcid - I believe that it is 1/4 tablet. I think that is what I have read, but I too have not had to give it before.

Your day does indeed sound exciting! I'm not too sure on the landfill part, or the grass mowing, but the rest sounds great! Enjoy your day. :-D :-D

Hey Rusty - what's up? You wanna get together? Had Shadow shown up? Maybe sometime I can come and play with your guys too... ~~ Mannie

Re: 6/18 Rusty AMPS 104

Good Morning Ella. What a gorgeous start to Rusty's day. I hope his new little friend appears, so I can hear the story tonight. :-D
I can't wait for our farmer's market to start next week. It's something new for our local area. Yay!

Enjoy this beautiful day, with your hubby and kitty.

Re: 6/18 Rusty AMPS 104

For not feeling so well, that really is a very nice number to start the day. I sure hope Rusty gets back to feeling better very soon..
I have to agree with Michelle, the landfill and the mowing..... Not so much, but the farmers market sounds delightful. Since I've been away for a spell, could you please tell me how your cellar is doing? or is it something we still really don't wish to discuss? Also, I would like to hear the story about Shadow as well.
Seems as if I've missed out on quite a bit.
I hope that you have a wonderful Saturday as well :-D

I want to thank you for very kind words on the 9th.. Red monster was one of his most favorite things in the world to play, and now he can play all the time if he chooses..

Again, have a great day and get lots of goodies at the market :-D

Re: 6/18 Rusty AMPS 104

Ella: This is a nice number for his little upset tummy and not feeling well. I hope the pepcid works and he starts feeling better soon. Poor Rusty! Sending him healing vines.

I envy your farmer's market and it sounds like a delightful day ahead. We have markets but the produce is so so and most of it is not produce...it's crafts, honey, etc.

Have a great day.

Re: 6/18 Rusty AMPS 104

Poor Rusty and not feeling well, maybe he needs his bean to rub his tummy for a bit and it will help him to feel better. Poor little dude.

Sounds like you have a wonderful Caturday planned, except for the landfill part.

Re: 6/18 Rusty AMPS 104

Hey Rusty get rid of that hairball, you'll feel so much better. I hope that's all it is Ella, I'm glad Tess is short haired and likes to be brushed. I haven't been to a Farmer's Market in age, our big one is on Thursday evening, right at shot time. :YMSIGH:

Rusty, Mannie says you need KTSS for your tummy. We can come, we'd love to see Shadow. He sounds nice, not like that nasty Mr. Orinch that taunts me! cat(2)_steam -- Tess

Re: 6/18 Rusty AMPS 104, +5.5 84

Rusty ...KTSS for you coming right up!!! It's too hot here even with the pool so let's go where it is sunny and cool. Tobey is flexing his paws to give you a good massage!! See you soon. And Tobey said Aunt Ellabean should prepare for some very good Tobey purrs and headbutts....he loves her!!! He can help her haul mud, too. Tell her not to forget to watch his video on my condo today and she can see his big muscles!!

Re: 6/18 Rusty AMPS 104, +5.5 84

Hi Guys,
It was a hairball: Hairballus Normallus (not Giganticus). Rusty is fine and acting completely himself. At the moment he is taking his "down time" in his basket. Thank you all for your concern.
Shadow isn't around today so his bean may have gone out and left him indoors. Maybe later. (Squirrel: Shadow is the kitty across the street, a "teenager" kitten; he calls on Rusty every day and they are "watching" each other, have rubbed noses and chased each other. Shadow wants to be Rusty's friend. The cellar is 99% recovered, but is still under the water table, I believe. Got rid of the last of the mud the other day!). We now have about 30 sponges drying outside.

The visit to the landfill has been accomplished and the mowing will begin later (if I still want to do it; it needs it, but I love to see the wildflowers and tall grasses growing in our "Northern lawn"). The farmers' market was really nice. It is a very small one (only about 12 farmers, bakers, and maple syrup makers), but the produce is just picked and delicious. We got some garlic scapes (a real treat; the hard-neck garlic produces long scapes that make wonder stir-frying at this time of year), some snow peas, and some field-salad greens. Also some granulated maple sugar. Then, on the way back from the landfill the farmers who set up by the railroad tracks were there and we got some more scrumptious strawberries (these farm ladies come all the way from the Syracuse area and have been doing this for years).

All for now. I may go out on my bike instead of mowing the "lawn".

So glad Rusty is feeling better! It certainly is hairball season, that's for sure. Awesome numbers!!!

Re: 6/18 Rusty AMPS 104, +5.5 84, +9 93

Glad Rusty is feeling better and that it was just a hairball. What a lovely gift, but so nice to see when they aren't feeling the best. Great numbers today for Rusty. Too bad Shadow didn't come to visit. I know Rusty looks forward to that.

Sounds like you had a fun but busy day planned!

Re: 6/18 Rusty AMPS 104, +5.5 84, +9 93, PMPS 101

Hi again,
I didn't mow the grass and I didn't go out on my bike, either. I sat outside with Rusty and Shadow! They touched noses again. Rusty chased Shadow and muttered at him. Shadow frisked about, jumped up in the air several times, and took off through the flower bed. I think he thought Rusty would follow, but Rusty stayed put on the brick walk. We spent another 1/2 hour outside and then he came in. He is such a fine kitty!

Good day of numbers for Rusty. Even the PMPS is virtually green. I was going to have the vet do a baseline blood workup when we go for our appointment on Wednesday, but I think I'll put it off until the fall and just have him look at the tiny scabs near his ears and clip his nails. The vet's office called today to change the appointment to early morning because they would want to anesthetize him for the blood work. I don't like the idea of this at this time! (for obvious reasons). They also said not to give him his shot that morning and no food, either. Since we are just getting back on track after losing regulation for a week, I'm not sanguine about the whole thing. So, since there is no pressing reason for this to be done at this time, I think I'll just hold off for a while.
Does anyone have any comments about any of this?

Wishing you all a good evening,

Ella & Rusty

Re: 6/18 Rusty AMPS 104, +5.5 84, +9 93, PMPS 101

Rusty looking good today! Sounds so flukey as my old vet used to come over & sedate Moonie & Copper, but dont recall about no insulin? Maybe the anesthesia will lower his bg's & they are being careful--
Hey, with what's been going on, maybe waiting would be more to your liking & safe feelings..
You know me, Go with your gut feelings!
We will be thinking of you tomorrow in Park Slope where we first met you!!
23 blocks of street fair :o  :o  nailbite_smile --Should be very interesting!
Big Hugs to you & Ed, enjoy the nice weather & your sweet Rusty..Lub you all from us!!

Re: 6/18 Rusty AMPS 104, +5.5 84, +9 93, PMPS 101

Hmmm - agree with going minimal on the vet appt since he is obviously feeling better.

He did not need to be anesthetized for bloodwork when he visited the vet here.

Also -- tomorrow I'll be driving a leg in a rescue relay.

An "urgent" email hit my mailbox yesterday "Rusty needs a ride from Novi to Jackson on Sunday"

Needless to say - it caught my eye -- Novi is just a couple miles from where I live, and Jackson is where my parents live -- and it is Father's Day tomorrow.

This Rusty is a 1 yo yellow lab but I'll be thinking about a different Rusty while I'm taking him to Jackson.

Hi again,

Thanks for your thoughts, Roni and Phoebe. Hey Phoebe, have a good relay with the doggie Rusty! I'll be sure to tell Rusty that you are thinking about him and give him a few scritches for you.

I'm a little behind with condos, but sorry to hear Rusty wasn't feeling well. I hope he's feeling better soon. I may have missed something, but why would the Vet need to anesthetize Rusty for bloodwork? Usually bloodwork is done first to see if kitty is safe to go under anesthesia?? Have a good night.

Re: 6/18 Rusty AMPS 104, +5.5 84, +9 93, PMPS 101

Ella,

Neither of the vet practices who saw Rusty when I fostered him ever sedated him for bloodwork. Did they have trouble with him, or are they just being cautious.

If there was trouble at the vet's, would you like me to try and talk to Rusty? Need to hone my animal communication skills, and he should be a good subject :-D

Let me know.

Claudia

Re: 6/18 Rusty AMPS 104, +5.5 84, +9 93, PMPS 101

Hi guys - nice pmps for Rusty YAY!

FWIW - I too find it interesting that they have to sedate Rusty for blood work. I wonder on the reason. In all the years that I have had blood dawn never have the vets done that. I wonder if they think Rusty would be difficult to handle? I think that if there is no urgent need to have it done then I would wait too.

Have a great night guys - the offerings at the market sound so good. Isn't it great to go and get fresh local produce like that -awesome!

I am glad hat Rusty is feeling better. :-D

Thanks Guys,
I think that our vet thinks Rusty might be unruly (Stu was a handful and he put him under a light dose when he did bloodwork). I don't know. In any event, I'm not going to have the bloodwork done now. The only reason I was considering it was so that I would have a baseline for future comparison. I'll talk to the vet on Wednesday and ask him about the reason for anesthesia. The last time we were there (for the rabies vaccination in March) Rusty was not happy to have his temperature taken, nails clipped, etc. and may have struggled.

Claudia, how/where would you communicate with Rusty? Perhaps when we meet this summer to return your travel crates?

Ni ni everyone,

Ella & Rusty

I got the X-Alp Enduro II to ride in....will try them tomorrow morning...bright and early. I need to get back into the pool and start alternating swimming and biking.

Should have had Claudia talk to Curry when she was having her spat w/Sid. ;-)

Have a good evening and a good paddle tomorrow.
