Good morning,

Yesterday's condo

Yesterday
AMPS=148 (0.75u); +2=171; +9.25=180
PMPS=175 (0.75u); +2=171; +4.25=198; +6=198; +9.5=160

Today
AMPS=175 (0.75u); +2=164; +8.25=144
PMPS=119 (0.75u); +1=128; +2=142

Lucy ate the 1st and the 2nd breakfast pretty good!!!!
She usually takes about 30 minutes and lots of encouragement to finish the 1st breakfast, but she finished within 15 minutes this morning!
Still finger-feeding of course, but finger-feeding is much more enjoyable when she eats like this.
And she seemed like she wanted to eat more, so I fed her the 2nd breakfast (mixed with new food) 5 minutes earlier than usual, and she finished that too.
Now she seems full, so she may not eat the 3rd breakfast (last serving), but that's fine.
I'm OK with the amount she has already eaten.

I've figured out a trick to minimize the chance of her crunching and crushing her capsules before swallowing.
I wrap her capsules with Primal raw food, because she loves it.
As soon as the capsule is in her mouth and she starts to go nomnom, I offer another tiny ball of raw food.
This seems to make her swallow the 1st one with the capsule quicker because she's eager to get to the 2nd one.
Accidents still happen but much less frequently!

Yay for a good appy for Lucy. That's nice you found a way to get her pills in her.

Good luck with your new trick to get the meds in. The only one that likes pill pockets here, is Ginger.

Mariko, that sounds like a great way to "administer" pills!!

Interesting PMPS.
Lucy is still feeling good, and ate the 1st dinner well!
I am increasing the portion of new food from 1tbs to 2 tbs from this evening.
One tbs with the 1st serving, and another tbs with the 2nd serving.
So I'm mentally preparing and telling myself not to be discouraged when I see a bigger food spike from the higher carbs of the new food.
She is not going crazy for it, but she likes it as much as she likes Wellness on a good appy day.
That's not bad... that's actually good for a finicky cat like Lucy.
I thought that the chance of her eating it was 50/50, so I am so far happy with how it's going.

You are very clever indeed to figure out how to get Lucy past the point of biting into the capsule. I've actually learned a lot from reading your condos, and yesterday and today I was able to get Harvey's meds into him by wrapping the gelcap and/or pill in cheese, which I learned from you. He loves American cheese, and just a little bit wrapped around the med gets scarfed down without hesitation. So thank you, Mariko!!

I hope Lucy continues to eat well, and that the new food doesn't spike her BGs.
 
Lucy is looking good lately. I hope the food doesn't cause a spike in her BG. If it does you will adjust her insulin and it will be worth it if she feels better.
