Re: 6/18 Lucian AMPS 454,+6/248

As tiny as that R dose is, I guess I should be grateful it hasn't happened before. :o I'll give it to him later and get him down where he should be.

As soon as we're back on track, I'm going to switch him to Lev and see how he does. Met with Heather today and she gave me a couple Lev pens to see if he does any better on it, she knows I had no way to get it. Keeping fingers crossed it will do better than the Lantus. Several members have suggested it, but without help, I couldn't. Don't know if DCIN can help with that or not, since he was written for Lantus. If the Lev works, maybe I can trade a couple Lantus pens for Lev to someone else that has changed to Lantus. There's a thought! :-D

As bad as I hate him being high today, at least I could go meet Heather and Lu Ann and have lunch and RELAX. I love being able to meet other board members. :-D So nice to put a face with the name. Didn't have to run thru Petsmart like it was a marathon and speed home, for fear of him dropping too low. :thumbup

debbie, you may not have to give him R later. he's been clearing his bounces pretty fast.

what you don't want to do is give R as the bounce is about to break. you're at a point now where it's worth your while to find out how long it'll take him to clear a bounce without R in the picture.

if you gave an R fur shot at PM+10... the lantus has pulled him down a lot already... almost too much. a drop like that can end up setting him up for another bounce.

i probably sound like a broken record at this point, but i'll say it again...
it's up to you, but please consider putting the R away for the moment in order to get a good handle on what's going on with him... a picture not influenced by R.

just my thoughts...

Re: 6/18 Lucian AMPS 454,+6/248

ok, whatever you think. I think he'll go back to what he was before the R. But I also was going to do without the R when I put him on Lev too, since I want to see what the Lev can do on it's own. We've already seen that the Lantus can't handle his high numbers, it's been 6 months.

I'll forgo the R and we'll see what he does for a couple days before trying the Lev. I just really don't like his 600+ numbers.

Re: 6/18 Lucian AMPS 454,+6/248

i doubt it'll take more than a couple of days without R to see how his body reacts. i'm *hoping* he's begun to learn lower numbers aren't so bad. there is some indication (bounces clearing faster) that he's finally getting with the program.

i have no idea how lucian will react to lev. some kitties do respond better to lev than lantus, but we've also seen kitties who respond better to lantus than lev. generally speaking, we've found lantus better able to pull higher numbers down than lev. most of the early lev users found it necessary to incorporate the use of R since lev usually doesn't kick in (onset) until around +4. with most lev kitties, not much happens during those first 4 hours until you can work up to the point where you have some good overlap/carryover from cycle to cycle, but ECID. the only way to find out if lev will work better for lucian is to try it. :-D

Still coming down, will be interesting to see what he does in the next couple hrs.

Instead of LC, I gave him CF tuna at +9, in hopes of any spike being insulin and not food. Or not much from food.

As for the Lev, I'm willing to try anything, because whatever I've been doing doesn't work.

We'll give it a few days and see what happens.

lol! i think my interpretation of lucian's spreadsheet my be somewhat different than yours. i'm seeing progress!!!!!!!!

as a matter of fact, i was thinking the timing for starting a new insulin was kind of unfortunate in a way. to me it seems like he's finally getting somewhere, but i wasn't going to say anything about switching because i didn't want to get in the way of your plans. besides, i do think lev is a good insulin or i wouldn't use it for alex.

There he goes!

I haven't switched yet, he's still on Lantus and will be until we figure out what he's doing.

ok, hold it right there, lucian!
let's see how long it takes him to come back down. that's what we're looking for at this point. we want to know if lantus alone can bring him right back to greens. if not, it's back to R... or switch to lev.

I didn't give the R, I was too busy looking for a tornado! (besides, you said not to)

At 6:12, a tornado was spotted over Wake Forest (where I live) and the weather got crazy! I tried to call my son and found out that my MagicJack expired in the last hour and had to go online and pay for that before I could use the phone. I was buggin!!! I kept thinking, I'm gonna die and I can't reach anyone cause my cheapa$$ magicjack won't work!!

Funny now, it wasn't then! :o

I expect him to be very high by pmps, another 45 min.

PMPS 278??? call me surprised!! :o

Could tuna effect him like that? Jump up almost 100 points? Could he be allergic maybe? I know all food, even carb free has SOME effect, but I don't understand it doing that.

I need to get more turkey. I checked today and they don't have it in the can any more, so I got to find raw that I can afford, not $8 for 2 wings! I'll keep looking, I like to have that for when I don't want him to have any carbs, like at the end of a cycle and he loves cooked turkey. Refuses to eat chicken. @-)

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!
love that PMPS! go lucian!

i don't think tuna would cause a jump like that, but who knows! i think it's more likely it's just the lantus you're seeing. one of the quirks of lantus is a second dip at the end of the cycle... not to be confused with nadir. the nadir is always the lowest point in the cycle.

let's see what he can do tonight! i have a few appointments, but will be checking back here. i'm very curious to see what he does with this.

ps - happy to hear you're ok. those tornadoes can be downright scary!
