Hugs go out to Sandy today. Sandy sending signs helps refill my heart.

Healing vines go out to Sue (samwise) and her husband. Please be kind to the leg breaking rabbits. Your post made my stomach do flipflops though.

Julie the baby chickadees chirping when mom and dad came in your video made my day!!!! LOVE! I never see them with worms - just the seeds and tons of them here. I love watching them. I have to set up birdhouses around the yard now. I heard you aren't supposed to put a ledge in front of a birdhouse so that predators don't stay and wait. I have to read up on buying the right ones.

Went to the gym. My neck is still achy from Tuesdays therapy session. It is a BEAUTIFUL day to get our kayaks out for the first time. Or clean the outside of my car. I haven't washed it in a year ohmygod_smile

I haven't been able to visit more than one or two condo's lately so I'm behind on tons. Please share news and updates for us.

a friend of ours from church owns the local Wild Birds Unlimited and several years ago i did a focus on environmental stuff (care of the Creation) with my youth groups - he helped the kids make birdhouses. I have one i'd bought from his store, but the house that's up is one that kids made from his plans - and it's got weirdo paint on it. but the birds like it. did you notice the fencing up in front of the house?

you're right - no ledge. and you want a specific size opening and inner dimensions depending upon what birds you want to attract. the chickadees are apparently very territorial, so even though i have another house hanging in our back, this is the only one in use - they come back year after year to it. the first year i hung it up it was one of those random things - it had been out in a tree that had come down and i just randomly hung it from the christmas light hook for a place to just set it down. then the birds nested in there and it's been there for years now. crazy. i'd never have thought they would come right up to the house like that.

the only bad thing is that it's right by the front door and i used to always have flowers and chairs on the porch, but now i'm afraid watering on the porch will drive them off, so no flowers for the moment. well, one basket of fuschias for the hummers but that's all.
