FD food, do you know the # of carbs in any of the following: Primal Nuggets- turkey, duck, pork- Stella and Chewy's - Duck, Duck, Goose, Sea-Licious salmon and cod, - Honest kitchen "Grace"turkey, Nature's Variety Instinct Frozen Raw Rabbit.

I checked Dr. Lisa's chart. Only one there is GRace from Honest Kitchen. Have contacted both Primal and Stella and Chewy's. They do NOT return my calls.Frustrating!:banghead: Hoping someone on the board has had some success in finding this information. Thank you.

I've gotten to talk to someone at S&C every time so that is odd. I've only used the turkey and the chicken so can't help. Both of those are lc and were suggested by a vet to try.

Ok. I'll try them again on Monday. Maybe closed on Sat. Maybe different time zone. Do you know howMANY carbs are in the S&C turkey?

Grace is pretty high in carbs. I have all the numbers for Primal from the company. Let me get the computer up and running and find where I have them and I'll post them shortly.

I'm surprised you haven't heard from Primal. Angie is my POC there and she is great. But, again, I do have the % calories from carbs for Primal and also Honest Kitchen.

Ok..got them. Primal does not make duck for cats. So if you are seeing duck, it’s the canine version. I’m going to give you the numbers for all that I have just in case you decide to feed one of their other flavors. The numbers below are the % calories from carbs based on the as-feds I got directly from the company and converted and I’ve also included the mg Phosphorus/100 kg. These numbers are for frozen or freeze dried.

Beef and Salmon: 6% 219P

Chicken and Salmon: 6% 323P

Pheasant: 2% 201P

Pork: 3% 246P

Rabbit: 5% 557P

Turkey: 1% 203P

Venison: 6.5% 302P

Honest Kitchen Grace (turkey): 10% 225P

Honest Kitchen Prowl (chicken): 20% 175P

I tried to give Gracie the Honest Kitchen and she loved it but it really zoomed her BG. In fact, I couldn’t even use it for low numbers. It sent her straight up. I’m not sure why the carbs are so high but it just didn’t work for her. ECID.

Many thanks! Actually just got a return call from Primal. Don't knowwhat was because Iwas on the phone long distance with my old aunt but they gave me the info.on voice mail. Yes,,the duck is for dogs but my alternative care vet who is orchestrating this transition for our CKD and hyperthyroid kitties said that the canine duck is fine for the kitties if they like it and they do. They aren't crazy about HonestkitchenGrace so I am trying it as a topper sprinkle but not for Marmy.
Our CKD, Sweet P had lost weight and appetite and the transition to about 40/60 FD and wet RoyalCanin D has really helped her to bounce back a little in both appetite and weight. She is also on a quality EFA formulation and herbals for the CKD and her asthma.
Thank you so much for the data. :bighug:
What does BBL mean? ;)

I just got an email from Stella and Chewy's. They say their fd when reconstituted is 1% which is what I've been told every time I ask.

Thank you. I have been gradually adding FD to the diets for all my kitties and Marmy seems to eat it well generally but her BG has barely touched green over the past two weeks, even with an increase from 1unit to 1.2. I am thinking of increasing again. She was doing really well with frequent reductions until I introduced the FD foods. Maybe the high protein makes her stay high. I know that sounds strange but it is the only change her diet has had. I am mystified.

Question. My pharmacist gave me some of the bone broth with tumeric from Honest Kitchen, is this the values from broth or reconstituted food? She said the tumeric is a natural anti inflammatory. But can't find any carb values for it.

It's from the reconstituted food. I doubt turmeric has any carbs. Be aware that bone broth is high in phosphorus so if your kitty has kidney disease, it's not a good choice.
