Well, friends, here we are. Day 14. I gotta be honest, I kept waiting for him to shoot back up... I'm still not sure I've fully processed that this is really happening... what am I gonna do now that I'm not pricking his ear?! :joyful: Hoping it sticks and we get to really soak up these next few years with our Zenny boy.

@tiffmaxee, @Bandit's Mom -- you two are forces of nature. This board is lucky to have you.

@Summer and Susie, @PerfumedCatMom, @carfurby, @JaxBenji, you are my rocks.

I owe a debt is gratitude to everyone here for the kind words and the support. This is an incredible little corner of the internet and I hope it stays around forever... I don't know what I would have done without you! I'd like to drop in from time to time and just say hi. ❤️ I promise I'll bring cat pictures. :woot:

Emily, you are a sweetheart. I'm so very happy for you and your family for having taken Zen to the Falls. I agree that this is a very special place. Happy day 14! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hurray! Happy Day 14! Congratulations too all of you :bighug::bighug::bighug: Thank YOU for being so open and for helping Zen (and, let's be honest, I have loved your organization too :joyful:) :bighug:

Congratulations!!!! You did it Zen!
Once he is through the trial successfully, you enter a new phase. Your cat is still diabetic but has now become diet-controlled. Continue feeding low carb food in the manner successful for your kitty. If you decide to change her feeding schedule, let your meter be your guide to the best times to feed. Avoid medications with sugar in them and steroid medications unless they are medically essential. Continue testing blood glucose weekly for the first month and then monthly forever. It's a good idea to weigh her monthly. Weight should remain stable. If she seems "off" or sick, or is showing signs of diabetes (excessive drinking, eating, urinating, weight loss), test her blood glucose right away. Keep the teeth and gums clean and healthy; dental issues can bring a cat out of remission. If you see rising blood glucose numbers, it's time for a visit to the vet!

I am so, so happy for you Emily! Thank you for mentioning me but I really had nothing to do with the speedy and successful progress you made in getting Zen into remission. I hope this doesn't mean that we will not hear from you in the future. I hope you and your husband can plan a really nice vacation now. Please stay with us, occasionally, and continue to offer your guidance, experience and support to those of us who are still lost along the way. God Bless you, sweet lady, and may God bless your Zen for many years to come. IT IS PARTY TIME!
