I had occasion to speak to the Relion customer service and thought I'd pass along some interesting info.
I know many of you use Arkray Glucocard 01 test strips from ADW with your Relion Micro or Confirm meters. However, the Relion rep told me that there is a slight difference between the meters and the strips and it's best to not to do that. Now, I understand that Relion would prefer to sell their strips for a higher price and also they don't want any opportunity for liability so they will not recommend or support using the Arkray strips, however similar they might seem, in the Relion meters.
For us, I prefer to eliminate any variables that I can control and on the off chance that there really is a difference, I haven't used the Arkray strips in my Relion. If you are doing this, I'd at least buy one small bottle of Relion strips and run comparisons just to see if there is a difference. Both meters use the glucose oxidase assay methodology.
