Well y'all, we made it 14 days OTJ! We are partying tomorrow because today is father's day and our family was on the road home from Austin. I've just retrieved Simon from my mom's house and his BG was 69 when we arrived home. He's a cool, cool, kitty, keeping that BG in line even when traveling by car and visiting his grandmother!
His abscess is much, much better. There is a scab or area of dead skin that is going to slough (vet warned me) but there isn't any swelling or pus anymore. Simon will continue to go in his fenced back yard but won't be allowed out after dark anymore. The only ongoing consequence the vet warned about is that Simon could have caught FIV if he had been bitten by a cat. But we don't know anything for sure! It could have just been our civvie, although I don't really think that's likely.
See you all tomorrow!
