Yesterday's Condo

Well, a flat blue kitty beats the heck out of a flat yellow kitty! I didn't expect a bounce, since Cinco slid down to green from a low PMPS, but I was hoping for a little more action this morning. I know, I shouldn't be complaining after FINALLY getting some green numbers - first ones in over a week. Greedy bean.

DH overslept this morning, so shot later than he should have, but we're flexible tonight, so all should be well.

There was no late night serenade. Don't know why, but I'm very grateful, as I was pretty tired when I finally got myself to bed. I'm always so wired when we get home late and it takes me forever to wind down enough to go to bed. I was planning to sleep in this am, but see below. Went btb after that, though. ;-) :-D I-)

They sure take good care of their patients at the UC Davis Veterinary Hospital. The student assigned to Sasha called me last night around 8 pm to tell me that Sasha had eaten well, gotten lots of snuggles and was settled in for the night. She called again this morning (at 7:50 am @-) !) to tell me she was doing fine and that the CT scan is scheduled for 12:30 pm. Vet students must have the same kind of killer hours as Med students! So now I'm just waiting for that call. nailbite_smile nailbite_smile nailbite_smile

I have TONS to get done around the house, after being out and about almost every day for the past week, so hopefully the time will pass quickly.

Sending healing vines to all in need, and hugs to all their beans. Cheers to the kitties on OTJ trials - Pixie, Juno and Boomer - how cool is it to have three at once? :RAHCAT :RAHCAT :RAHCAT

Re: 6/17 Cinco AMPS 184 +3 182

Hey Cinco!! We sure had fun splashing around last night....and today we've got our beans confused again! Ain't life great? ~ China

Hope the news from UC Davis is good news, Tricia! Sounds like they're taking excellent care of Sasha while they have her!

YEAH for some BTB time too! Sounds like you needed it!

Re: 6/17 Cinco AMPS 184 +3 182 +6 206

Time is passing quickly and I'm not getting much done! No call yet. Nails won't last much longer - they were short to begin with.

Don't know what Cinco and China said to each other, but it mustn't have been good, as they both took off in opposite directions! C'mon you two, kiss and make up!

Since we love to talk poo here, I thought I'd update you on Cinco. Since I started adding bf squash to his breakfast every day, he's getting more regular - he's leaving me a gift every other day lately, and they aren't as dry as they were before. I guess that means it's helping. He hasn't announced it the last couple of times, so I've been taken by surprise. I wonder if it's making him feel better, and that's why he's been a little more active, or is the increased activity making him go more?? Another unanswerable question. So very catlike. confused_cat

ETA: Harvey just ran by me. He's doing the lb to lb dash again. I followed him just now and he peed a little tiny bit. Then it was off to another box where he did nothing. Still running back and forth. Possible UTI again? Just what I need!

Re: 6/17 Cinco AMPS 184 +3 182 +6 206

I hope you hear something about Sasha soon. It's so hard to wait. That's good the bf squash seems to be helping Cinco.

Re: 6/17 Cinco AMPS 184 +3 182 +6 206

Continued prayers for Sasha, and calming vines for you!! Oh, and I just saw that Harvey is possibly having pee issues....tons of prayers for him, too.

Interesting about the BF...maybe he is feeling better from the regular poos!!

Re: 6/17 Cinco AMPS 184 +3 182 +6 206

Yoo Hoo!! Cinco!! All is forgiven...after all, you're only a man!...come on and splash with me!! ~ China

Have you heard anything yet on Sasha, Tricia?

Re: 6/17 Cinco PMPS 191 Sasha Update

Thank you all for your concern, prayers and vines. I'm sorry to be so late with an update, but right after they called me with the results of the CT scan, I spoke to Harvey's vet and she wanted me to bring him right in. That's a 1.5 hour drive each way. I got the call that Sasha was out of surgery on the drive home, but we had to do Cinco's shot and feed everyone and I had to run to the grocery store, so here I finally am in front of the computer.

The CT scan showed that the suspicious tissue reached deep into the leg muscle, so the surgeon and the oncologist determined that, despite their hope to avoid it, amputation was the only option. They said we could wait and think about it for a day or two, but we saw no reason to delay. They were very adamant that this was the best chance Sasha has to recover and enjoy some more quality time with us. We gave our approval (although I had to repeat myself a couple of times as I was too choked up to be intelligible). Sasha came through the surgery well, and "everything went as expected". They did have to take quite a bit of the muscle out. One interesting note from the CT scan: they could see part of her skull on the scan, and discovered that she has fluid in her inner ear (they didn't say which one, or I just missed it). They think that is probably the source of her tremors. It would need surgery to remove it, and they didn't want to keep her under that much longer. They say it isn't necessary to do anything about it now. They will only act on it if it causes issues later. It's nice to at least know about that.

It will be at least a week before we get the biopsy results, and that will determine whether or not she'll need radiation. We are praying she will not need it. She has been through enough. They will call me tomorrow to let me know how she's doing and when I can bring her home.

Harvey's vet ran bloodwork and despite his peeing in the carrier on the way there :o , they were able to squeeze enough urine out of his bladder to do a urinalysis. The vet said it had "debris" in it, so she's pretty sure it's a UTI. She also said he was very gassy, and that could have contributed to his discomfort  . It was exactly the same situation as his last UTI, so we're pretty sure that's what's going on. She sent us home with Cosequin (as it is an anti-inflammatory), Onsior (an NSAID) and Zeniquin (AB). She said it wouldn't hurt to start the AB right away, and if they have to run a culture, they can change which AB after they get the results, but that's the one that worked last time. Harvey was pretty quiet on the drive home, thankfully. He had cried the whole way there.

Cinco, meanwhile, gave me a nice high blue PMPS. Again, lower than his +6. I don't get it. China, I'm hoping he took your comments to heart and will be accepting your invitation soon.

Again, I thank everyone for the support and ask for more prayers and vines for Sasha's recovery and her adaptation to being 3-legged. Also, please pray that she does not need radiation. Thanks!

Re: 6/17 Cinco PMPS 191

Oh Tricia! The news you didn't want to hear, but good for you for taking the bull by the horns and just getting it done and over with.

You're such a good bean that I'm sure Sasha will do wonderfully under your excellent care

Lots of prayers sent for a quick and uneventful healing....and of course no cancer findings on the biopsy.

I know the next week is going to be hard on you, but hopefully it will pass quickly. :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Re: 6/17 Cinco PMPS 191

'Oh Tricia, I am sorry for all that you are going through right now. You are giving them the best care possible. Sending prayers That Sasha doesn't need radiation and recover quickly.

Re: 6/17 Cinco PMPS 191 =3 151 Sasha Update

((((Tricia)))) -

I can't imagine how emotionally drained you must be right now. Maybe it's a blessing that the CT scan made the decision clear for the vets. No having to weigh the options - a clear cut answer. I'm sure Sasha will do great in your care. Thousands of healing vines coming for you and Sasha.

Re: 6/17 Cinco PMPS 191 =3 151 Sasha Update

Oh Tricia - what a day for you. :YMHUG: :YMHUG: I hope Sasha gets used to her tripod status quickly and the biopsy provides good news.

And Harvey too. I was thinking "oh oh" when I read about the LB visits. That signals a cystitis flair in my civie Theo - manageable but good that you got right on it. Theo's last urinalysis had debris, but no bacteria. Cosequin also helps the bladder walls, so Theo gets it daily now. Healing vines out for Harvey too.

I hope Cinco behaves himself and keeps a nice blue surf going tonight. The bf squash has really helped my civies dry poos too.

Re: 6/17 Cinco PMPS 191 =3 151 Sasha Update

Tricia, I'm so sorry that you all are facing so much right now. I pray that the amputation will be he beginning of healing and there will be no need for Sasha to have radiation. I think I told you that my friend had a cat that had to have his leg amputated and no further treatment was needed. He adapted quickly and lived a normal, long, life. That is my wish for your Sasha. At least the decision was clear cut. I think you did the best thing by acting immediately. You must be drained. I hope Cinco surfs nicely and you are able to get some sleep. Sasha and the others need you to stay well so you can take care of them.

Re: 6/17 Cinco PMPS 191 =3 151 +6 77 +7 85

Didn't see that coming!

Thanks, Elise, Wendy, Jen, Catherine and Chris.

I'm still somewhat in shock. It's very hard to picture my active little Aby hobbled like this. Please keep those prayers coming. We can use them.

I'm glad Sasha made it through the surgery okay, but I'm sorry they had to do the surgery. I hope she recovers quickly and won't need radiation.

I hope Harvey gets over his UTI quickly.

Sending prayers and hugs. :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

I am so sorry for the news about Sasha....we are sending tons of prayers, and I have no doubt that, since she has the best bean on the planet, you will be enjoying many, many years with her. I would have done the same thing...she was already there, ready to go....why wait? Remember the videos you watched a few weeks ago of other tripods...remember how happy and well adjusted those babies were. Sasha will be active and feisty before you know it. These kitties...sometimes they are so much more resilient than us beans!!!

Sending extra prayers for Harvey, too. I hope the ABs work quickly and he doesn't have any of the yucky side effects.

And, a boatload of hugs and calming vines for you, Tricia. You have a very full plate right now....remember your LL family is here for you!! And I see Cinco is doing his part by giving you a lovely green surf. Good boy, Cinco!!

:YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

More hugs to you Tricia :YMHUG: and prayers coming for Sasha to have a fast recovery and live a long happy life, also sending prayers for Harvey's UTI to be gone soon. And more :YMHUG:

(((Tricia))) what a day for you and your furbabies  . I hope you managed to get some sleep. I'm so sorry that you have to go through all this, but I'm glad the surgery went well and I'm sending out many vines for a quick recovery and no radiation needed! I pray she will be able to show you soon just how resilient she can be. I'm glad they pinpointed what was causing the tremors. Also many vines for Harvey and hopes he will get the UTI all gone soon. You and DH are such great beans, I just can't imagine how stressed and exhausted you are feeling :YMHUG: :YMHUG: . My heart is with you right now. Hugs and vines aplenty are being sent! I'm glad that Cinco gave you a nice lagoon visit  , hopefully he didn't keep you up too late @-) . Take care of yourself.
