Good Morning, Everyone,

Our hearts go out to Sandy and her family. I hope that she will be comforted by the kitties' reports that at the Full Moon celebration the veil parted and all were able to see Tessie Lou and know that she is safely at the Bridge and surrounded by our caring GAs.

The moon was brilliant here last night. I watched it for quite some time, but the eclipse must have been quite late since I didn't see it. Today is a beautiful Adirondack summer day. We are to have sunshine all day and no rain until tomorrow afternoon (when we will be out on a canoe trip!!).

Rusty woke me up with purrs and headbutts this morning. He seems to be coming back down to his normal range. I opened a new box of test strips for the FreeStyle Lite last night at the bedtime test and it took forever for the blood drop to be sipped up into the meter and then ages for the number to register. Same thing happened this morning, so both of these tests may not be entirely accurate. I then tried the meter and strips on myself three times and twice it took so long that the meter timed out. So I called Abbot and they are sending another box of strips. Fortunately I have plenty of boxes and the strip from a different new box that I opened and tested on myself works normally. Rusty will get his first test with this box of strips at +5.

Be back later to visit some condos. I have to water the houseplants and then want to get out on my bike for an hour.

Hey Kitties: that was a wonderful party last night. The desert was beautiful in the light of the Red Moon. Thanks, Gracie, for having the party at your place. The best part of the evening was when the veil parted. We could see Tessie Lou and she sent us loving greetings and told us that she is healed and that all our GAs at the Bridge are welcoming her. She told us to convey her everlasting love to her Family. Sandy, DH, I will miss my friend Tessie Lou, too, but I am thankful that she landed softly at the Bridge and that she will be fine, waiting until you meet again.

Re: 6/16 Rusty AMPS 150, +5.5 173

Hi again,
Looks like the numbers are going up, but who knows. There are too many variables at the moment.

Rusty and Shadow had another meeting this morning. Shadow frisked about and Rusty at one point ran up to him and sniffed his nose (!), but then limited his participation to a brief chase. Mostly he just sat and watched Shadow (who was running and jumping like the kitten he is). Rusty is an adult.

Have to take Edward to the chiropractor now. Am hoping to see some more or less "normal" numbers soon. These are the variables: 1) the aftermath of the trip (but that was days ago), 2) possible fur shot or partial fur shot last night, 3) insulin getting close to its cut-off date, 4), bad test strips last night and this morning, 5) NDW and refilling of the shed (took him up to 1 unit yesterday: this is the 3rd cycle at 1 unit; so far no real improvement in bg), 6) Rusty might have an infection (but he doesn't act like it: good appetite, good lb action, good disposition), 7) his interaction with Shadow is stressful. And let's not forget the full moon!!!

I just took a load of old mud out of the cellar. It looks so much better!!

Re: 6/16 Rusty AMPS 150, +5.5 173

Ella: wow...that's alot of variables to get to the bottom of this!!! Interesting on the strips and great that Abbott will replace them.

I hope you get your bike ride in today and Edward's visit to the chiro goes well. Holy cow on the mud!!!! Hope you have seen the last of the rainy weather that causes that. Tobey has huge muscles now from the bucket brigade!!!

We are so honored to have had the party last night where the kitties could see Tessie Lou and all the other GAs through the veil. It still breaks our hearts to think of her as transitioning at such a young age. But it is hard no matter what age they are.

Enjoy your day. Love the Rusty/Shadow stories!!

Re: 6/16 Rusty AMPS 150, +5.5 173

:YMSIGH: I hope things settle down for Rusty soon, this is so unlike him. I love the Close Encounters of the Shadow Kind! I think I remember that Rusty didn't get along w/ other cats when he was fostered? I hope just occasionally outside visits work out better.

Sorry you waited up for the eclipse, apparently North America was about the only place it wasn't visible. ohmygod_smile

Rusty! Yes that was so beautiful last night. But Tessie Lou looked so healthy and happy. I know the others at the Bridge will take good care of her. -- Tess

Re: 6/16 Rusty AMPS 150, +5.5 173

Wow thats weird about the strips since freestyle usually sips really fast I wish I was using mine instead of this contour I switched to after being given almost 600 free strips well could not turn that down but contour is so slow to sip and it takes more blood I cannot tell you how many strips I wasted at first after being so spoiled to the freestyle I am finally used to the contour but still sometimes make the drop too small I am still a freestyle fan hope you get to the bottom of whats going on with those strips sounds like something is not right with them. Come on down to green Rusty ;-)

Re: 6/16 Rusty AMPS 150, +5.5 173

Aww gee, doesn't Rusty know I need my Rusty/Shadow fix every day? I'm waiting for the day, they are best friends, and play funny chasing games. :-D

I was thinking of you and your celler today, Ella, as it rained here, but thankfully, it was brief. I don't know if you get the same weather, as we're closer to Pa.
Glad Abbot is making good on the expensive strips.
I was disappointed that I wasn't able to stay up/awake, to view the moon. Guess I didn't miss anything.

Glad to see that Abbott is replacing your strips! Hoping that is the reason that Rusty has been running a bit high lately.

And I am envious!! I'd much rather be cooking up a stew for an awesome buddy like Checkers than packing and organizing tonight!   Hope you guys have a wonderful evening!!

Interesting day in the life of Ella. Glad the water and mud problems are lessening. Sorry that Rusty is up in his numbers. Maybe it is the visits from Shadow. Tuffy resented the stray and it sent her numbers up. Now, if he doesn't come she gets upset and when he comes she runs to find me and tell me he is here for dinner. Crazy kitty.

Did you get out for your bike ride? Hope so. Also hope Edward's shoulder is feeling better.

It is good to hear that your cellar is finally getting better.

Rusty is hanging out in the blues, which makes for a calm day.

Hope you have a wonderful evening!!

Wow on Rusty's numbers. you're right - so many variables. I hope the new dose kicks in soon....

Interesting on Shadow - does he upset Rusty?

I am glad that the cellar is improving! YAY!!! There is a light at the end of the tunnel!

Sorry I am so late in visiting. I hope you got your bike ride in.

Rusty: your sentiment and remembrance of the full moon party was very nice. Thank you.

Ni Ni everyone. Yes, I did get out on my bike for a short ride. This afternoon Rusty and I spent a lot of time outside. I was cleaning up the cellar "tools" and Rusty was chillaxing. Shadow wasn't around. I don't think Shadow is raising Rusty's bgs. He doesn't seem perturbed, but we'll keep an eye on him. Over the course of the day Rusty has been coming down in bg.

Tomorrow we're supposed to go on a canoe trip, but the forecast is for thunderstorms, so it will probably be cancelled. Edward is sick in any event. I think he may have the late flu that is going around, poor guy. If the trip goes, I'll do it without Edward in my solo canoe.

Have a good evening, all,

Ella & Rusty

Glad to hear you are back to your normal routine of canoeing, hiking, & all your mountain activities(including the basement-sorry)--It's good to resume normalcy again, maybe someday I will be ble to do it!!

The party was indeed beautiful & the veil did part for all the love transferred between this side & theirs--Cats are ultra sensitives to the other side as it is, and with each other, it's magical--Moonie said they were all so happy & will reunite again at the next full moon party--

Rusty, Moonie may get jealous of that Shadow, but she has at least 2 kitties around here that she Puffs up
her tail for & climbs the screens!!!!--Gee. I gotta do her bgs at that time!!
These silly kitties!--Have a good night--Lubs & HUgs!!
