Good morning, LL!
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!!!
Ripley is doing great today!
All 5 Ps are in place (even the 12th P, tearing up paper to let me know I was taking too long preparing her breffis   ).
There is one P I'd like toacknowledge brag about: Purring. Ripley was purring up a storm earlier. And she's never been much of a purrer. She's rather clumsy at it ~ I can tell she tries, but her motor seems to be a little lopsided. She'll attempt a few purrs, then take a deep breath (a defeated sigh?) and stop.
But there have been 2 times she's purred like a real kitty in the last couple of days: this morning as she and I were snuggling on the couch in between her Pepcid treat and her feeding time (we usually snuggle during these 45 mins. in the AMs ~ it's often my favorite part of the day), and yesterday when my DH walked into the room.
And that leads me back to those big blue words up there.
Though we don't have our own kiddos, my DH and I have several furkids, a few feathered kids, and a pond kid. I've always known Will was an animal lover ~ and likewise, they are drawn to him. (I was drawn to him when I first found out he had a cat ~ instant points in my book!) He has a special calmness that they all pick up on; I've seen stressed kitties just melt in his arms. Even our timid turtle will try to follow him around (even though her pond is in a fenced-in enclosure to keep raccoons out). Animals simply enjoy being near him.
Well, Ripples and I were snuggled on the bed the other night, watching TV, and Will came home from work. He popped in to say hi, and Ripley started purring, real purrs. When he left the room, she stopped. I called him to come back, and she started purring again. We were both surprised and amazed, as we know it is so rare to hear her motor running so loudly and effortlessly.
She loves him. (She loves me, too, but that's because I'm her mama and she's my baby. Will came into her life when she was about 6 yrs old.)
I think she also respects him.
He was the one who showed us (me and her) how to be calm during those first few weeks of testing her ears. He was the one who swooped in and held her when I was too upset and frustrated and scared to continue poking her ears, then reassured me that I can do this. He takes care of her on his days off without any complaints. He is concerned about her health and well-being, but never worried.
He takes care of all our kiddos in a way that's gentle, real, grounding, and compassionate.
He's such a good DaddyBean.
Happy Father's Day to all dads out there.
Sending many vines to Zeus today. (And also to Topper, Pepper, and Chyna.)
Thank you for the visits last night, Deborah, and Marje. Deborah, you had such kind words for Ripples; and Marje, well, you made me blush. You're both so sweet.
