I hope it's okay that I post in this group, the Tresiba group is quiet these days. It looks like our 5 units of Tresiba is working for Chuck. I did a curve yesterday and I'm not sure if it was luck or the insulin depot, but his numbers have never been this good. I'm going to keep him at 5 for now and keep feeding smaller meals throughout the day. Will probably test at +4, +8, +12 today. Happy Friday!

Prior to this week I was sporadically testing chuck's blood sugar and was finding he was high pretty frequently, but when I did a curve yesterday he was mostly blue. Each time I checked I gave him either a freeze dried minnow treat or a few pieces of low carb kibble. Since I've never seen him so close to in range, I figured it was either due to a better injection technique or something related to his "good boy BG check" snacks. Today I checked at +2.5 and +6 and he's elevated compared to yesterday. I haven't changed anything other than the frequency of checks/snacks. Could these elevated levels be attributed to him not snacking as frequently? Or it could it just be he's a little higher today. Am I overthinking this? lol.

How often do you all feed/give snacks to your diabetic kitties? Do you notice a difference when there are fewer snacks given? For context, Chuck is not well controlled yet. Prior to yesterday he had been high 400s consistently. I also can't leave dry food out because he inhales it. Prior to his diagnosis he was good about free feeding and boy do I miss those days!
 
King Chuck is in higher numbers today because he's bouncing. He's not used to that lovely stretch of blue he had yesterday or that he dipped to overnight.

The treats or kibble would not lower his numbers. I suspect the more frequent testing has shown numbers that might have been hidden before hand.

I tended to give regular scheduled meals - the main meal plus a couple others before nadir. Then would give a bit more food if Neko was in lower numbers (below 100) for each test. A tsp or two of low carb food when they are in greens can help them surf, or maintain those numbers.
 
I'm not sure if posting here is going to work or not, as people here do not have familiarity with Tresiba and may not be able to help with dosing. The purpose of the insulin specific groups is to help people with the how each particular insulin works. Note that Lantus and Levemir have very similar action, so have been combined to the same ISG.

Thank you for the tip!! Thursday was the first time I've ever seen him below 200 consistently so the bounce makes sense. There were thunderstorms stressing him out yesterday too. AMPS today was 258, taking a deep breath and going to keep doing what we're doing
