I had a rough night. But I think because I checked her so often Cassie had a good night! I kept her in the 200s last night but stopped testing after +6 because I needed some sleep. Her AMPS was 319, that sounds like a good number! Not scary high like 500 but not super low like 99. Will check her at +3 to see how she's going! :)

You might try getting a +2.....sometimes it can act like a crystal ball!

If the +2 is about the same as the PS, it's usually a pretty normal Lantus cycle....gradually down to nadir and gradually up to the next PS.

If the +2 is higher than the PS (more than just meter variance), it usually signifies a bounce is starting and it's probably OK to take a pokie break.

If the +2 is lower than the PS, that's your "early warning" that you should plan on getting at least one more test later in the cycle.

Hope Cassie lets you get some sleep tonight!

So last night I fed her twice, once after her +4 and once after her +6, since her +6 was still at 215 and I was worried it might drop lower. Do you think I needed to feed her twice, or just once at that +4? That'd be nice if I didn't have to check her every two hours the entire night!! (unless of course her blood sugar went down REALLY low like to 40, then I would have to monitor a LOT. I was just thinking to prevent it by feeding twice to be safe!)

Looking forward to some sleep tonight!! Please little Cassie!! :cat:

PS: Today I tested her +3 and it was 385 after her AMPS was 319, so I figured I wouldn't poke her til PMPS, following that rule of thumb. Is that a good idea?

For last night, you were probably fine with just the +4 feeding. She was pretty flat from +4 to +6, and not likely to drop after she flattened out. Think of the picture of a curve or smile. Once they are flat or on their way up, they are safe for that cycle.

And yes, today was a good day to conserve strips and catch a nap.

What does it mean when her PMPS is lower than what her +3 was? Is that a good sign? I feel happy today that her numbers weren't black. :)

Their numbers bobble around quite a bit during a bounce. She was pretty much just flat and pink today - all within meter variance. Not black is indeed good!

+2 is down to 320. I think that's close enough to her PMPS of 358 that I don't have to worry tonight. So i'm going to try to get a full night of rest. :)
