feeling lucky today...
shot a bcs of 1 unit since I wasn't going to be here for a few hours....
and of course, she didn't eat.... just a nibble of her raw shrimp .... and left most of them on the dish....
great...
now she doesn't even want those....
guess I'll have to get the ham out....
maybe buy a crab leg or two today.... see if she'll eat that.....

i opened mauri venison but she quickly ran away.... so gotta open something else.....

Is raw shrimp even okay for her? I've heard a little on the news about not eating it unless it's from the U.S. I don't mean to further complicate your life but if it is not from the U.S. I would cook it.

Appy vines for Shadow. I know how hard it is when they won't eat. :bighug:

So Sorry Shadow doesn't want to eat. FD is hard enough when they do want to eat . Sending eating vines and prayers that Shadow will eat. Sending a big hug to you.:bighug:
Take Care,
Peg and Toby

Thank you everyone!
I think she's not feeling good....I may try to get into the vet... they can probably get me in by the end of the week.
Let them feel her, trim her, see if we should increase some meds....

she did come back and eat the mauri venison....
it seems she doesn't want to eat sitting on my recliner with me any more... or on her tower.... places where I test or shoot.
I try to hold her, scratch her chin, but she doesn't want to sit with me. She leaves.

found a food she's never had before at all.... granger's pheasant.... for dogs and cats... bought a can....
ingredients are only pheasant, liver, guar gum. that's it.... obviously not a complete food... but she ate about 2 Tablespoons...
i also found a nature's variety chicken and duck stew to try...

the vet thinks it's okay for her to eat the raw shrimp... she preferred them raw to cooked....
i've actually bought her usa shrimp before at whole foods.... and she won't eat those....
the foreign ones have more smell... unfortunately.... so she wants them.

she's eating enough that I'm not having to syringe feed yet.... but if this continues... I may be there soon.
and she doesn't feel like she's lost any weight....

on a good note... a friend of mine is also a diabetic and uses lantus.
She gets a large vial every month... apparently it says to discard after 30 days....
I told her that we are able to use it for months....
and she does keep hers refrigerated.
she's going to start giving me her vial after her 30 days of use.... Thank You!

but here's the interesting part she told....
she says if she uses it past the 30 days that she can tell that it's lost some potency....
there's something our kitties can't tell us...

Interesting on the Lantus, I wonder if that's more of a "self-fulfilling prophecy" type phenomenon. She's been told it won't last longer, so she looks for signs that its not? Would be interesting to look at data on a tightly controlled cat and compare data from the first 30 days of a vial to data from the rest of its lifespan. Nice score, though!

Hope the vet has some answers to help Shadow's appetite. You've said she's really sensitive to her shots, right? Poor thing.

Daily contribution of appy vines going your way. Good luck getting Shadow in for a vetty visit.

Interesting on the Lantus. I think a lot of us use our pens/cartridges longer than 30 days, and don't see a lot of difference when we start a new one.

I thought that was an interesting perspective.
it could be her "feeling " it because she read it/believes it....

I give her the benefit of the doubt since I believe I feel different with certain drugs .... generic vs brand.
I feel a definite difference in my anti-inflammatory, migraine and anti-depressant if I take a generic. ( not as good at all! )
I could be biased since I was in pharmacy school for a few years and we had a class on the differences between the two.
Generics are not always equal.... especially in therapeutic comparisons.
They don't want the public to know that too deeply.... as most financial management healthcare wants you to have the cheapest option.
