gave punkin a full can of FF at +3 last night to see if he'd be a little less hunger-crazed this morning - maybe it was a little better, but not much. He made 3 circuits of the coffee table while waiting for the testing equip to get ready! breakfast gone, CPC status intact for him and anya both (thanks punkin!), i didn't catch a bath since i went out to feed the birds, but he's already back asleep.

his appt with the veterinary dentist is in 1.5 hours. she'll look at his jaw and we'll go from there.

i imagine his amps this morning is a bit of a bounce from the 138 last night. i shot 5u instead of 11 because of the potential for anesthetic today.

thanks! i have my list - no metacam, no convenia, 1/2 size smaller tube.

i am a little nervous for him. poor guy needs a break and a little good luck! can't believe this mouth stuff has been going on since march.

alrighty - not a perfect report, but at least we're not doing anything for now.

the vet dentist said that the site is slightly red, but not much. she pointed out that he has alveolar something around his upper teeth - the same kind of resorption issue that was on his lower teeth that were removed. it's not too bad, his teeth aren't loose and aren't causing him any pain. she said the problem with removing upper teeth is then you have the lower teeth hitting the upper gums and a new problem arises.

so . . . the outcome was a wait and see. she said looking at the "whole cat" punkin looks good, she was surprised he was 13, he doesn't seem to be in any pain, and because i wasn't eager for surgery she said let's give it 6 months or see him sooner if he shows any pain or troubles eating and we'll re-evaluate then.

i'm a-ok with that.

poor punkin was sooooo anxious. he was panting in the car both there and back, and while he was in the exam room. i put him in the carrier to actually go into the vet's office since it was a new place and he went kinda crazy trying to break out, digging around under the lining and trying to dig through the sides. then when i opened the zipper to pet him he tried to push his face through and got his upper tooth caught in the zipper fabric. once i got him out and held him he was calm, so then i just lugged the stupid carrier around on my arm.

when the vet went to take a look at him he put his hands on her shoulders to get picked up. he's such a cuddler. i'm glad to be done with that and glad he's not going to have anything done today.

unfortunately i shot the 1/2 dose so it'll probably take a while to recover from that.

Yay for no surgery! Willie gets so stressed out in the car too, so I feel ya there!! Glad you guys are home and can relax. I'm sure he'll be back to good numbers in no time!!

You did go to de vetty, Punkin? Well, get reddy... big partee tonite, an' we'll get dat vetty smell off on de bus!! Plus, when we get to Gracie's, Tobey will gibs u de bestest massage!! Can't wait... see ya soon! --Willie

Good news for you two today! Vet visits are so stressful for kitties. I bet Punkin's glad to have it all over with!

Oh poor Punkin, getting his tooth caught in his carrier and all! Glad to see he's getting some R&R after such an exciting day!

I'm glad everything is okay for now. We sure didn't need any more bad news here today!! Poor little Punkin!! I hate hearing how scared he was, poor thing! At least he calms when you hold him....his mama will protect him!!!

i was mentally prepared for a pmps of 400 or so, and there it was. 202.

don't know how we got 202 after a less than half dose shot this morning, but i'm not gonna complain. i returned to the regular dose and will check him a little early, just in case there's some unusual effect from it.

i even gave it a half hour early because i was so sure that he would be high and he was staring at me with his psycho-babble into my eyes "FEED ME NOW STUPID BEAN." Once we tested him we just kept on with the process.

Yay for a good report! I am sorry, Mr. Punkin, but no one likes going to see a doctor.... but... its for your heart health! (think of the Cheerios commercial with the kid that tries to steal his dads Cheerios and the dad is like "it's for my heart health" all super serious... I say this to Willy whenever he is grumpy about have his BG checked)

Anyways! Not bad numbers for only half a dose + stress!!! Both of those things were working against you!

Great report, and lovely PMPS! So sorry it was a stressful visit for Punkin. I know how you and he feel...I hate seeing my kitties so stressed. Glad to hear it's behind you now!

what a nice condo today. :smile: It's great to see a good vet report and a good PMPS too!

Big doses make big sheds, so you might be able to get away with the BCS shot with no adverse effects (or you could see adverse effects a day or two from now, but maybe not). The huge shed thing has saved me many times, when I've either forgotten to shoot or decided to skip for one reason or another. That's one advantage of having an acro cat. ;-)

I conked out early last night so missed his 138!! Way to go Punkin!!

So glad to hear a good vet report in terms of no surgery. But poor boy with those teefies!!! I'm sure you are relieved to be able to wait and watch.

Hey Julie, I am so glad to read this good news of Punkin's dentist visit. The big guy deserved a break! Sorry that he got his tooth caught in the carrier. The good PMPS is a nice way to finish off the dental day!

p.s. Rusty has no upper front teeth, only lower, and doesn't seem to be bothered by this at all (his teeth were apparently a mess and he had to have 8 or 9 extractions last summer). If indeed Punkin does have to have the upper teeth out in the future, I'm sure he will be OK, too.

Wow! I'm impressed that Punkin's PMPS is 202 too, especially after the adventure she had at the vet! Way to go Punkin!
 
Yay for the good news! I was worried about how the little Punkster did today, poor guy getting his teeth stuck in the carrier. And so sweet that he tried hugging the vet.....awwww, he's such a cuddly boy.

YAY for a good vet report. I am glad that you are ok with it all. It's all good news. Sorry that he got his tooth caught in the carrier - a very talented guy! :-D Punkin has got to tell Mannie that vets are OK people and giving them hugs is good.
