I am posting late this morning, but did do the tests and 1 unit dose. I also got a AMPS +11 which was 250

I tested each time and went back to bed til the next one

If the +2 is much higher than the PS, it's likely to be a quiet cycle.
If the +2 is similar to the PS, it's likely to be a normal, active cycle.
If the +2 is much less than the PS, it's likely to be a very active cycle with possibly an early drop

What does quiet cycle and active cycle mean?

Here's to nice blues and greens for all the kitties today

Re: 6/15 Poe AMPS 262 +2 308 and ?

Morning. ~O) ~O)
quiet and active refer to the numbers for the cycle.
quiet means you probably won't see any lows ( but there's no certainty there)

and active means you are very likely going to have to test more frequently and monitor. The cycle could go low and sometimes can earn
a dose reduction. Especially kitties who have a pattern of dropping from 300's to 50's in just a few hours.

The +2 is very helpful to see the possibilities.

As you collect more data, you will start seeing Poe's pattern.
Some cats like Sienne's do dramatic drops .... and some cats like mine or Cain.... tend to just surf with flat cycles.....
Looking at others spreadsheets and their condos helps you see and learn some of that.

Hope you have a great Caturday!

I don't know that I'd always agree that if the +2 is higher that it's going to be a quiet cycle. It could depend on whether you're using Lantus or Levemir (Lev typically has a later nadir) and when your cat's nadir typically falls. And, of course, we're dealing with cats who often do not like to do what's expected of them. In other words, just because you get a high +2, don't always assume you are safe to not test.

Thanks for the clarifications. I think I'm too early in the sugardance to determine Poe's nadir yet. Looking at his ss, though, it seems he is rather flat for the most part, but I never consider this to be written in stone. Just when I think I can "see" something, it changes anyway.

I'm watching him especially close this weekend because I upped his dose at last night's BG/PS. I'm just trying to prevent any possibility of a hypo when I have to leave for work Mon - Fri because I never know if I can sneak home to check him.

Thanks again :-D

Hi Karen,
I just wanted to visit and say hi.
I'm also a newbie here, and have a lot to learn, and struggling!
And I also have to work (supposed to work) Mon - Fri, so I think I know what you're going through.
Luckily we get lots of wonderful support here, so hopefully we both will be able to keep your Poe and my Lucy safe AND take care of our work, without them digging into each other's schedule too much!
