Yesterday

Well, darn! Our streak was broken this morning. :( Harvey only ate a bite or two of his t/f/s meal and didn't want his breakfast, despite the choice of two different options. I went ahead and gave him his tummy meds. A few minutes later he ate a couple of bites, but nothing else for an hour. Then he went and ate half of his t/f/s meal and a couple of bites of his breakfast. :) Five minutes later he threw up.:arghh: I didn't see his meds in there, but I imagine they were pretty dissolved by then. Ten minutes later he was eating again. I did give him SEB last night before I went to bed, but apparently that didn't help him at all. Don't know if I'll try it again.

He did make it to the lagoon, but I don't know how long he plans to stay. I think he's just looking for seashells at the water line. o_O

Sooooo, today was Day 31 of the Whole 30 challenge. I made it!! :woot: I had oatmeal for breakfast! :) Made with just water :(, 'cause still no dairy. But it was pretty good. As for the weigh in, (drum roll, please) I lost 12.5 lbs and two inches off my waist. Not quite as much as I had hoped, but more than I was expecting. So now we see how I do during the reintroduction phase. The key is not to go off the deep end and eat too much now. I'm fixing a rice and mushroom side dish with chicken for dinner, and everything else today will be compliant, although I am toying with the idea of having a diet soda. There is no step for reintroducing sweeteners, since a lot of the foods we are adding back in have some kind of sugar in them, so the guidelines are not clear about when you can do it. We had just stocked up on my favorite soda before I decided to do this, and I'd hate for it to go bad, so maybe one a day.

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans. :bighug:

Glad that Harvey started eating for you later. Gosh, the eating thing makes us all feel so helpless.

Great with your 30 day Cleanse! Bet it felt like 60 days! That was a nice amount to lose off your waist in that amount of time. Take a bow Tricia. :joyful:

Nice numbers for Harvey today. Sorry about the vomit. I hope his tummy has settled down. Sending prayers.

Congrats on making in through the 30 days and losing weight and inches.

Come on Harvey, stick around the water line today please! Sorry about the tummy / not eating. It's so stressful when they won't eat on their own. :(

Congrats on surviving the Whole 30! I'm sure it's hard not to dive back into all the foods you missed. I'm counting down the days until I can start my reintroductions (4 more weeks!). In the meantime, I'll live vicariously through you. ;) Please tell me how glorious it is when you get your hands on some cheese. :woot:

Ahhh...that explains why China spent this afternoon on the beach!! She was helping Harvey look for pretty seashells!! Hopefully they'll both go in for a swim tonight.

NICE on the 12.5!...that's almost 1/2lb per day so that's nothing to sneeze at! If you held that for a year, you'd lose 182.5 lbs!! Hope you savored your oatmeal and eat your mushroom rice tonight slowly...enjoy every bite!

Hope Harvey's tummy settles down again....he's been doing so well lately so I'd try not to worry too much just yet...he seems to just need to urp once in awhile.

Yo Harvey!! I finded some really pretty shells for your collection....dey has sparklies in dem!! I be down at da lagoon tonight and hopes I take a swim...I gots all dis sand in my fur!!

That's great that you lost that much in 30 days. Now what's the plan to keep it off? For me that's the hardest part. Does the diet give you a plan to continue after the reintroduction?

Tummy vines for Harvey.

Splashdown! :D

Thanks for the visits, everyone. Harvey was more than ready for dinner when shot time came around. DH was a little late, and Harvey was sitting at his feeding station waiting when he walked in! Where you been, Daddy? Don't you know it's past my dinner time? He ate all his dinner, and has had several snacks. The last little bit from the can is in his dish now. :) I just hope this lasts through breakfast (anti-jinx).

Please tell me how glorious it is when you get your hands on some cheese.
Sorry to disappoint you, Shane, but I may be the only person on the planet that doesn't really like cheese. Maybe because I'm pretty sure it doesn't like me! :blackeye: One of the reasons I did this challenge was to figure out if cheese and/or dairy really does make me feel ill, or if it's something else. I'm fairly sure cheese does, but the other dairy products don't seem to bother me. I am actually kind of tired of the way everyone makes it sound like cheese is so wonderful, and restaurants put cheese on everything, often without putting it on the menu. People look at me strangely when I say, "no cheese, please". Can you tell it's a sore subject? I'm sure when you finally get to your reintroduction, the cheese will taste that much better.

that's almost 1/2 lb per day so that's nothing to sneeze at! If you held that for a year, you'd lose 182.5 lbs
And I'd disappear. I'm overweight, but not THAT much!

Does the diet give you a plan to continue after the reintroduction?
Technically, Elise, it isn't a diet. It's a reset. You eliminate a bunch of foods that can cause inflammation and stomach irritation and all kinds of other stuff, and eat really healthy food for the 30 days and then you reintroduce them one at a time so you can evaluate what foods are a problem for you. It's just a bonus that following the program can help you lose weight. The theory is you also learn a lot about foods and what works for you, and how well you can do without some of that stuff you've been eating. Some people continue to follow it for a long time after. Many make a few modifications and make it their new way of eating. I'm still debating what I'm going to do at the end of the 10 day reintroduction period. I know I don't want to completely eliminate things like pasta and ice cream from my diet, but maybe I can find a way to just eat them occasionally, and follow the plan several days a week. Maybe a "one off, two on" schedule, like the reintroduction period, at least until I lose all my weight (33 more pounds to go). One side benefit is that even though DH hasn't been following the plan, he's been eating the same stuff I have at dinner and has cut back on diet sodas and some of his usual snacks. He refuses to weigh himself, but he says his pants are fitting better, and I've noticed a difference. He's supposed to lose at least 50 lbs., per his doctor. So I may just have to stick with the plan in order to keep him losing! ;)

It is a really healthy way to eat so continuing with a few cheat days sounds like a good plan. Men generally lose weight so much easier than we do. Even if you modify how you follow it I bet you will both lose all the weight you need. Congrats. It's quite an achievement.

I'm glad the Hoover was waiting for food!
